It seems as though the good teams have a forward press, obviously the pies but the hawks were monumental in the 3rd yesterday. It begins to make me think, what the hell does Josh Mahoney do all week with the forwards, structures cos we don't have one, pressure, aint seen it. Where is our forward press that keeps the ball in our 50. where is our zone. it makes me wonder.....

It was there in the second Quarter. At present we can't sustain it against the top sides.

would you really say that. In my opinion the wind is what bolstered us in the second quarter. do rememeber the hawks kicked 1.5 against a strong breese. We kicked 5.1. third quarter they had the breese. what else can i say

Watch the second Q again, we ran, thus got back into the game. The side is just not strong enough to keep it up for a full game.

Hawthorn rotated up to 8 players through the midfield. They wore us down...

I've watched the second quarter twice up until trenners goal. from there there things got worse because we went defensive. Yes we ran but we capitalised through foot skills. I wish every quarter was like the second. It was good to watch every hawks supporter in the ground quiet for once.

It will get there Mate..That was a true taste of what this Team will aspire too (Don't forget Jack Watt's contested mark up the other end either).

We saw a little of what is being worked on last night, That 20 minutes was Huge.

I am not making excuses for the 2nd Half at all, it was awful. But those Hawks just wore us out i am sure.

I heard dean Laidley on the radio earlier in the day talking about the new interchange rule. He basically said from the games he had watched that TEAM FATIGUE tended to kick in across the board at around the 10 minute mark of the 3rd Quarter

I shall remember that figure each game i watch this year.

Geez, everybody's getting into these strategies a lot.

It's hard enough to get these strategies down pat with settled struggling sides of mature bodies. I wish all us fans would stop to think just how hard that would be, with a team consisting of young first, second & third year players of whom most are under or around the 50 game mark. And in and out of the team often.

Thats gotta make it even more difficult to settle the strategies and structures, and set plays. It'll come, but after we get these boys playing with confidence first.

When the side becomes more settled, then the time will be on for grandios setups & exotic set plays.

Remember what Todd Viney has just stated, that those things will come slowly, and we have to start getting players settled into the team first, was my take.

Exactly.

But that 20 minutes we all saw in the second Q where it all "clicked" against a top side will be an excellent piece of Video for the players to go through.

It has been done, the boys just gotta get stronger mentally and stronger so they can gut run for longer.

Your right but they we're just struggling and couldn't get up. Playing below themselves. But when we eased the press-ure off our foot, they wriggled free and wrestled us till we relented. When we were down, on the ground, they kicked the crap out of us.

The team needs to get stronger no doubt. We at least now have a world class Gym to do it. Now the Debt is cleared i hope we always can spend a large percentage on FD facilities. Keep up and ahead of the pack.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
