Further to the Robbie Flower/Round 22 Video thread, my brother has in numerous boxes VHS tapes containing the replays of all Melbourne winning games from 1987 to the mid 2000’s.

Included are 1987 Round 22, 87 Elimination vs North, 87 Semi vs Sydney, 87 Channel 2 Friday football show with Tim Lane and John Northey et al, and the as yet un watched 87 Prelim vs Hawthorn.

All are taped from the TV replays, some with ads, many without ads. Most are complete games, but some are individual quarters dependant on what the broadcaster aired.

If anyone has the capability to turn this VHS resource into a digital format he would be very happy to make them available.

Perhaps even someone from the Club might be interested?

Any ideas?

I have the capacity to do some conversion. Prob don't have the time to do all games, but could certainly do selected games. Is there much from the Jakovich/Schwarz era (93/94ish)?

Hi CJ,

Perhaps you could pm me with your details and we could hook up, just out of interest, where are you?

I have a copy of "c'mon demons" on VHS. A lot of people on here wouldn't have even heard of it - it was a great production from the mid-80's of a song featuring the players of that time, and some celebrities that are melbourne people.

I think you will find it on youtube somewhere - it is quite entertaining! For those younger supporters, there will still be a few familiar faces and some that you have never seen before!

Here tis;

edit - pasting the link.

I also have numerous games on VHS many earlier ones (1987-1990) are now in pretty bad shape though due to re-watching them plenty as a kid. I have the capacity to record them to a hard drive and convert to divx however my equipment isnt set up at the moment. Its actually quite simple you just need a composite (Red, white yellow plugs) converter which plugs into your USB drive and a VCR to plug into it. You then just switch it on and leave it recording to your hard drive using a suitable program which would come with the composite converter. Once its recorded you can use a divx converter to convert to divx or xvid (smaller file sizes).

When I get around to converting all these I will upload them somewhere so that the Demon community can share them. What your brother has is a treasure trove and it would be great if someone can convert these and upload them somewhere. Once I set up mine I would gladly offer my time to do the conversions but it isnt feasible at the moment. Maybe in another couple of months time though.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
