i think Junior showed he's not going to give up his title too easily, smashing Frank Mir and making him look slow and second rate. I feel for Mir......first having to beef up to compete with the likes of Brock Lesnar and then looking way to big and slow against Junior.......might be time.

Cain Velasquez made a mess of Antonio Silva in more ways than one........i think Cain will get his title back at some stage, he's a beast.

really pleased for 2 guys who really needed a win......Nelson because he's soo good in almost every one of his fights, but he just loses too many of them, and Dan Hardy, who i used to hate, but now have a soft spot for him and want to see him continue to add colour to the ufc.

Passenger, Del Rosario has some wicked kicks on him, his legs are huge, and his striking wasn't bad either, but man did he get owned on the ground. ufc is a big step up from strikeforce for most fighters.

loved Jamie Varner's performance against Edson Barboza, it wasn't just a lucky punch here and there......he beat the guy up.

liked the Struve submission and also the Mike Brown V Daniel Pineda match-up......quality fight.

overall a very good card.

That was a short and sweet main card.

On the night everyone I wanted to win did win except Mayhem.

It's a shame Mayhem went in injured, he would've easily beaten that boring hack.

UFC is probably just too professional for Mayhem, I've seen him dominate fights, we didn't see the real Mayhem Miller in the UFC, oh well.

Always liked Hardy, was glad to see him win and do it in style. He's fun to watch in and out of the cage. Looks to have added some new dimensions that he badly needed.

Loved the Miocic v Del Rosario fight, good back and forth, killer instinct finish.

Struve! Love this guy. As soon as he backed up I thought oh sh/t, here we go again. Then pulls out a sick arm bar, I think he's a genius.

BIg Roy Nelson never disappoints. Chuck Liddell called, he wants his right arm back. That was a huge blow.

Will be interesting to see who he gets next. He wants Lesnar lol.

The beast is back. What a bloody mess that was. Velasquez is a killer, would live to see him and JDS both at their best, would be huge. I'd still go JDS, sprawl and brawl might be too good.

JDS, boy did he make Mir look second rate, slow and clumsy. He was just toying with Mir. I called that Mir would dive straight for a foot, almost nabbed it, then it was all over.

JDS is a true champion, great bloke, animal in the octagon, love it.

I'll take Kampmann next week, well I want him to win, not too sure he will though.

Can't wait for Faber v Barao, Faber doesn't quit and Barao is brutal. Could get ugly.

Silva v Sonnen II

Any interest?

Silva v Sonnen II

Any interest?

Hell yeah there is interest. Cannot wait to see Silva and Sonnen 2. I can't see silva losing even though I hope he does. Thank god it's Tito's last fight and I don't think Forrest is far off either. The card is a pretty good one I got Silva winning in a stoppage in the 2nd.

Silva v Sonnen II

Any interest?

Just a little bit.......... If it weren't for my [censored] mates I would be watching this show live.

I think Sonnen will win this fight but I will be rooting (can I say that on here?) for Silva. Cannot wait for this one!

well any of you who have been reading this page long enough, know to get on whoever i don't pick to win a fight, and i certainly didn't let the side down with this card.

i think an old friend of mine was the difference in this fight.........Steven Segal. He is clearly the added advantage that Anderson Silva needed.

i'd also like to thank my [censored] mates for pulling out of this trip, as i would have been slightly disappointed had this been my dream trip to the home of ufc.

i wanted Silva to win this fight, but there is a sadistic part of me that really wanted Sonnen to take it to him for a while. in the first round he did this, and then early in the second Sonnen tried a spinning back fist, missed, threw himself off balance and i don't think he ever recovered this position. Silva then took him apart with knees and accurate striking.........and she was all over. i couldn't help but think.......why would a meat and potatoes guy like Sonnen try such a move against Anderson Silva? anyway, he did, and it was probably the last crack he will get for a while as i doubt he can trash talk his way to another rematch without it sounding manufactured. Silva is the greatest fighter of all time and i really hope to see him in the flesh while he is still in his prime.

The rest of the main card was a bit of a yawn for me, Ortiz Vs Griffin was about what you would expect, and i'd like to say a big thank you to Forrest.

probably not a bad one for me to miss.....

Desperate times call for desperate [censored] to go to desperate measures. You could tell as soon as Anderson stopped the first takedown, his shoulders and whole demeanour changed, got relaxed and into the zone. If Chael was clean in this fight, there was no way he'd have the strength and stamina to keep taking Anderson down for 5 rounds. (A lot of people forget/forgot how good Silva's takedown defence is, and how having the testosterone of 17 men is not just illegal, it's illegal because it makes you insanely strong). I think Chael realised that once Anderson stuffed the early 2nd round attempts, then he felt how hard those strikes are (that look like nothing) and started to panic, and threw that backfist. If that backfist did connect, probably would've knocked Silva clean out, the idiot put everything into that, only Anderson could casually duck that and make you look like more of a tool than you already are.

Then the almost illegal knee from heaven, how sweet it was. I've read people saying he tried to or did throw an illegal strike, yeah, the most accurate striker in history accidentally missed the head and luckily hit the chest, lolz.

I wish it went for longer, but in the end it was the most satisfying UFC win I've ever enjoyed. Good on Chael for building it up to that level.

I was glad Forest won, but then he pulled that lame [censored] at the end and lost me. They're both a couple of knobs. I'm kinda sad to see such a villain go in Tito. Then again he mentioned his surgeries another 47 times after the fight, so he can [censored] off. Hey, did you know Tito had surgery??

Glad Cung Le won, give him Anderson in China, Bruce Lee would love it!

The body shot on that hillbilly freak Cody McKenzie was the 2nd best highlight of the night.

I agree though, apart from the excitement of the main event, the card was a bit of a yawn, prelims were boring too.

Did anyone watch Weidman v Munoz?

Read on if you did

Some very good fights on this card, one of the prelims, Craig vs Natal was just crazy, great fight, great comeback win, it's a shame it wasn't a main card fight.

Te Huna, what an effin' beast. Like a 205lb Overeem. Credit to Beltran for being made of bricks, no wonder he could hang with heavywheights. Loving Te Huna's work, reckon it should be Te Huna v Gustaffson II for a title shot.

I think I made a comment somewhere in this thread about Weidman being a future title holder, think I finally got something right! This kid has all the tools, stand up is good, BJJ is outstanding as is his wrasslin', strength and ground and pound are brutal. Chael should take some notes.

A complete domination of a very good opponent, then one of the coolest elbows I've ever seen and maybe the most brutal late stoppage I've seen.

Nice.

Let's discuss how awesome 149 was.

The end.

Let's discuss how awesome 149 was.

The end.

haha......could not agree more!

i was watching this with my old man and he's not a huge fan of UFC, but i said this main event shapes as a beauty, so he watched it. i think i've lost him forever now.

I think I would've enjoyed the main event had the rest of the card not put me in the worst mood ever.

What a pile of garbage.

Not surprised if your old man is lost to it, that was enough to turn anyone off.

What a debacle the whole UFC 151/152 has become. Jones Vs Belfort. Does anyone give Belfort a chance?

Vitor will win, I put my wallet on it.

The UFC is struggling, too many injuries ruining the few good fights and too many fighters hand picking their own fights.

Pay them well and make them fight who you tell them to, enough of this pick and choose rubbish.

Bones is a rubbish bloke, I hope he gets seriously injured. Rashad was right all along.

Spewing that Aldo v Edgar and Rampage v Glover are now cancelled. So frustrating.

Yeah some UFC fighters are really getting on my nerve and are making me switch off. If being a "New breed" fighter like Jones means cancelling fights and picking and choosing their opposition they are in trouble. Some fighters wonder why Leben, bonner and Griffin are so popular. It's because they know they are fighters not "Martial artists" like Jones always portrays himself to be. I hope Jones gets absolutely smashed.

Lucky I only put part of my wallet on it, and covered the loss with the other part.

Main card was a fizzer yet again, haven't seen the FX prelims as I was in transit, the Facebook prelims were good, and onya Kyle Noke.

I waited for the Vitor flurry that never came, pulling guard almost worked so I can't really question the game plan, but when your major weapon is blasting people across a cage, should probably use it.

I was hoping he would have pulled Jones's arm out of it's socket. I was screaming at the T.V. I could understand the game plan but I thought after the armbar Jones looked off his game/injured and Vitor would have smelt blood and gone after him. Your right Noke was the best thing about that card.

was screaming for that arm to break!

apart from that submission attempt i was pretty disappointed with Vitor though, i really like the guy, but i question his mental toughness at times. he definitely needed to let his hands go at some stage and it just never came......disappointing.

the rest of the card was a bit of a snoozefest, and the little guys are just way too fast, you can't even tell if they land a punch!

was screaming for that arm to break!

LOL

Yeah I think I'm already over the flyweights, give them concrete gloves or something. What is there anyway, 5 of them in the whole UFC? Think there was 6, but Roy Nelson wanted a snack.

I Know those flyweights are too quick for each other. I think one who won a Ultimate fighter was getting talked up for a title shot straight away because there is no one else. You watching the Smashes?

Haven't got Foxtel, seen episode 1, but whoever is uploading it seems to take an eternity so I can't get episode 2 yet.

How was the punch that rocked that circus Romanian bloke in episode 1? LMAO it was like how you hit the button to cross the road.

The current US one is pretty good, shyte fighters but the dumbarses in the house are a bit nutty.

Dan Hardy had another solid win again today against Amir Sadollah and Struve k.o'd Miocic in very impressive fashion.

Anderson Silva is a cartoon. A superhero. I mean what the hell are we watching here? I'm lost for words. A combat artist.

Crazy huh.

My mates now want to go to Vegas in feb but I only want to go if spider is on the card!

I wonder if he would be any chance for Sydney.......they owe us a big one.

Clark just tweeted that he's meeting Tito Ortiz tomorrow. I personally think Ortiz is a bit of a [censored] but still pretty cool.

Julian lane on this weeks episode of tuf loses his marbles, it's hilarious.

And Chaney bit Manley while he was being choked out.

Anyone have much interest in gsp and condit? I can't see condit losing, just gone from strength to strength, a real tacticians fight!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
