Beau Dowler

Reckon this guy is alright and could even be capable of being a future FF we need. Reckon we could try and trade Miller & pick 34 or Buckley & 34. What do people think?

Was a fantastic junior who suffered injuries in a pre-draft car accident.

Has overcome those now (although I beleive he's lost his mojo) and now battles with consistancy.

agreed, think you might need to start with 18 though.

34 and miller and 34 and buckley are quite different. imo

As a KP with good potential who has frustrated, you'd think pick 18 is minimum. Look at Brock. He's a one-paced mid who has frustrated and he got pick 11.

I'd be pleased with Dowler. Very pleased if we traded pick 18. I'd even cope with pick 11, assuming the better KP draftees are gone by then.

In other news. How much for Thorp? I used to rate this kid, but Hawks people tell me he is absolutely gaaaaawn.

Pick 34 for Dowler I would take. If a player needs to be added then do so to get the deal done.

No too Pick 18.

Age: 21

Height: 195cm

Weight: 92kg

Pick #6 2005 draft

2009: 13 games

Disp: 14.5

Marks: 5

Goals" 9

Limited opp with hawks forward line and few injuries. Played around the ground getting 24 touches in one game which is good for a bigger size player.

Last few games without buddy playing he was moved perminantly down forward and kicked a bag of 4 then in the last game kicked 3.

IMO he is worth pick 18 for sure.

I was watching him play in the hawks vs richmond game, and when franklin was struggling to make an impact early, Dowler looked very strong and composed. I was impressed. don't know about consistency, but If he came, I wouldn't mind.

He was very good in the round 22 game vs the Dons. Definitely worth pick 18 if he was on the table, and a promising future FF.

...? C'mon I would take Panos 8 days a week. Hes a scared rabbit

I'd jump at Dowler for pick 34. He looked good in Hawthorn's last couple of games. But I reckon pick 18 is too much in this last uncompromised draft. The quality is going to fall away somewhere between 15 and 25 .You'd hope 18 would be on the right side of the line

I wouldn't use Brock at #11 as a benchmark. I reckon that's a great deal for us. Ratten and Riley obviously remember him as a he was 3 or 4 years ago. The game has got quicker since then ... and pace has always been his problem

Hawks wouldn't take pick 34 for him, no way.

The quality is going to fall away much ealier then that.

But it could be the pick that is the final peice of the jigsaw for the Gibson trade

It is interesting that the person overall in charge at Hathorn, Chris Fagan-Hawthorn head of coaching and development ,is one person that the MFC respect very much. To me, if Chris does let Beau go- we should not take him- we should go for our own through the National Draft.Hawthorn FC are made up of many ex Dees- Mark Evans-Football Manager, Leigh Newton etc.. Overall, I think their judgement is sound - I respect them overall..

Prefer Talia, Temel, Panos Vardy etc.. over Beau.Although he is only nearly 20 with possible upside.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
