Looks like they'll have to do it hard with just a couple of Demons after they sort out the interchanges and emergencies.

Correct.

You can already scratch Bennell, Jamar and McKenzie and probably one more as an emergency.

It's a big day for the Scorps who go into their final home and away match undermanned again as a result of Melbourne's huge injury list. Only four Demons out there - PJ, Stef, Valenti and Zomer. As usual, the boys will give it their all. Good luck guys!

Unfortunately, the reserves were really struggling for numbers and the result was a predictable slaughter against the top side.

I'm not sure which is the worst way to lose a game - a thrashing like the one suffered by the ressies or a 1 point loss which is the way Casey seniors went down today. A pretty courageous effort from a team that was yet again undermanned although in the end, it didn't make much difference because the Northern Bullant won their game which meant that either way Casey would finish in the bottom half of the eight. The day was also soured by the report to Pierce Liddle who earlier in the week was invited to the Northern Territory draft screening camp to be held in ealy October.

Casey Scorpions 2.2.14 6.3.39 9.3.57 14.5.89

Box Hill Hawks 5.1.31 7.5.47 12.10.82 13.12.90

Best

Casey Scorpions MacReadie Panozza Chivers Matthews Faulks Wall

Box Hill Hawks Lisle Williams Markovic Whitecross Curnow Tuck

Reported Pierce Liddle (Casey Scorpions) for allegedly charging Edward Curnow (Box Hill Hawks)

Melbourne player stats:-

Paul Johnson 11 kicks 6 handballs 1 mark 2 tackles 28 hit outs

Stefan Martin 3 kicks 9 handballs 4 marks 1 tackle 1 goal

Shane Valenti 6 kicks 10 handballs 4 marks 3 tackles

Trent Zomer 2 kicks 2 handballs 2 marks

You gotta love the Scorps. Fantastic effort from them in the last 6-8 weeks with so few of their MFC players available, and not a significant contribution from any who played against Box Hill by the look of it.

KC, do you have any idea how many Dees have qualified to help you guys out in the finals?

And did Newton not play? He wasn't in the Dees (was he emergency?), he's not on the injury list.

top effort from the boys, and casey i agree, i cant decide which is a worse way to lose, 140 points or 1 point...

my gut tells me 1 point at the death is much worse. but it is good to hear that other results mean this result will not affect the scorps final standing.

go scorps in the finals.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
