its nearly all about the forward line and we need one superstar midfielder

It's the other way around. Our midfield is the worst in the AFL by a mile. 3 out of the last 4 weeks they have been disgraceful. Yes our forward line is woeful but our forward line will contain Jurrah, Watts, Wonaeamirri all can kick a ball unlike the clowns we have had there for most of the year in Miller, Newton and Robbo. Our half forward line is more of a problem which is why we need that gun key forward Sylvia has improved dramatically and Bate is our leading goal kicker and with a bit more midfield depth Davey and Green can go through there. Martin and Morton are the keys to our list management. They are playing all over the ground keep them in 1 position. Martin should be CHB with the occasional pinch hit up forward. Morton should be CHF allow him to use his strengths in his marking ability and his engine no CHB should be able to go with him endurence wise he is getting wasted down back.

Our midfield hasn't changed since Bailey took over. They don't kick goals, they don't get enough clearences and they don't get enough inside 50's. It's clear that McLean, Moloney and Jones who are all similar can't all play in the midfield 1 has to go possibly 2. I would seriously consider drafting 2 midfielders with our first 2 picks we need quality midfielders and we simply don't have them.

We don't need ruckman they do nothing it's the most overrated position on the ground it still amazes me why teams still go with 2 ruckman it's like playing with 21 men.

Agreed. When looking at the rebuild, we must consider the types we have drafted over the past 2-3 years, which has primarily been defence and forwards. This means that while our forward line is currently crap, we have the future forward line players on our list, even if they are not palying atm.

Forward line 2 years time- Watts, Jurrah, Maric, Wona, Miller, Sylvia,

To complete our forward line we need 1 more key forward (and possibly another small lightning fast small forward). This could be fulfilled with Butcher.

However ALL the other picks should be focussed on improving our midfield. We started with Blease and Morton, but need 2-3 top picks to be filled by fast and skillful mids

Brilliant piece of play that one!

It was against Weribee, and the leading forward was Brad Miller. It was the highlight of the match for mine, along with LJ's form.

I was impressed with Strauss that day. Sure he didn't get a lot of it, but he used it magnificently on every occassion, and surprisingly showed he is also capable of playing taller too (made a couple of great spoils one-out on Marty Pask).

Yeah it was Miller, just didn't want to throw names out from a 2 week old memory and get them wrong. Superb play.

Hit him completely in stride with a deeeelicious kick.

Strauss' kicking looks to be divine.

Holds it and keeps a similar trajectory to Pendlebury, but looks to have bit more penetration.

I don't see him as a "quarter-back" though, but maybe thats me having a problem with calling it a "quarter-back". If anything I see it as being a lot more like a point guard, and Strauss is a PG in a more up-tempo offense.

He'll be Steve Nash compared to Hodge's Stockton. Ok, maybe more like a Deron Williams to Hodge's Chris Paul.

You might get the idea. You might not.

Ah jeez.

Do you watch football? Can you not see the value that Dean Cox, Darren Jolly, Hamish McIntosh, Aaron Sandilands and Brad Ottens add to their teams? Can you not see the value that Paul Johnson and Mark Jamar don't add to ours?

Cox, Jolly, McIntosh and Sandilands are playing in bottom teams and Ottens has hardly played. It's not the ruckman it's the midfield that win games. At least 95% of the time they just hit it anywhere and just hope that a teammate will get it. They add very little value unless they are doing something around the ground, most just turn it over when they get it or don't get the ball at all.
