New prototype footballer - Immigration

What an exciting prospect. Australia has had an influx of recent immigrants from Africa, Asia, South Pacific Islands, South America and Mars. Soccer, Rugby, Basketball, Cricket and Baseball were revolutionised by multiculturalism. How much improvement at AFL level will our new citizens bring over the next few decades?

Driving home thurs I saw a couple of tall somalian kids with a cricket bat and stumps.

I just hope that they were playing cricket with them! :)

I live in an area where there are quite a lot of african immigrants and quite a lot of them are appartenty getting into footy. I'd say with in about 5-6 years there'll be at least a couple of african kids playing AFL.

give it 15 years, we won't believe how many of them there are..

Good observation. I saw a dozen or so of them the other night, kicking the soccer ball around. Whilst I'm glad it was a ball they were kicking, I wasn't impressed that it was a soccer ball. If I had a old sherrin I would of gone back and given it to them. They're pretty quick too...

Yes. We'll see a few in the AFL by then.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time.
