Draft Proposal 2008

Ok I have a draft proposal and I know it may sound stupid.

In "real" terms I propose we do nothing.

Keep picks 1, 17, 19 & 35

Anything else is minor trading IMHO

a/ Robert Warnock - we cant out bid Vizy industries lets move on.

b/ Brett Prismal - only if the price is right, cheap & I mean cheap.

Lets only target players that are 110% committed to playing for us, rain hail or shine.

Lets not target players just because they are "on the table".

We are a club that should offer "opportunities" and be prepared to respect our list.

Just a thought.

Would you care to explain your last sentence? What "opportunities" do you have in mind?

Sometimes its not all about the football ability. First we must seek to build a culture. We must seek players who are willing to be part of that culture. I would rather give a young kid a crack at AFL football than chase "re-cycled players" unless that re-cycled player is exclusively committed to us.

Sometimes we can get carried away with making change for change sake, I just get the feeling this is not the year.

Passion is very important on match days. However, lets not let it get in the way of clear thinking on non-match days.

I like what you're saying.. i'd prefer to get players from other clubs in a few years when we are the 'up & coming club' that is seen as a desirable destination, rather than try our guts out now and get the scraps that can't get to their destination of choice.

Its going to take plenty of time to rebuild, lets do it right

Yip 100% with you. Thats exactly my line of thinking.

You beauty.

Now we all must learn ....

1/ Respect is an emotion you must earn.

2/ Patience is a virtue.

3/ Karma is a wonderful thing.

4/ Before you say something stupid remember who is on YOUR side.

5/ Never eat your own.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
