Fair enough Jimmy.

I will also be watching.....with interest.

But for the record, I will say it again. I agree, CB is not theman to lead this club, but he will be a far better member of the team when we get some hard bodies and class back into the 22.

As a matter of interest, given our "outs" at the moment and indifferent form generally, who would you like to see lead the boys out for the remaining 5 rounds?

SERIOUSLY.

Whilst he has missed the past 2 with a hammy but given he is likely to return this week I would like to see Brad Green lead the team, similar citicism was directed towards Greeny as it is currently beind directed at Cammy a year or two ago, however he has hardened up dramatically and shows great enthusiasm and work rate for the team. I think he has accepted the short comings of his game and worked very hard to improve it and he has done so successfully and should be respected and congratulated on it.

He's a greatly underated player and the man I beleive has earnt the privilidge to captain the MFC for the remainder of the season

Brucey would leave his trackies on for the whole game if he could!!!!

if i was coach id rip those things of his legs and there is no way he would be tossing the coin in them........ another sign of his softness

brucey is the best in the AFL at:

- collecting possesions in junk time

- turning the ball over

-not shepparding

-not tackling

-poor handballing ability

-foot skills hopeless

-front runner

-loose

-soft

-not involved in the game when the game is in the balance but will happily watch his man go in and get the ball and have an influence on the game

-loves pointing the finger when in fact it is his fault that the ball gets cleared from a stoppage by HIS direct opponent.

-Will put his mate under the pump just so he doesnt get tackled

-and noticeably of late and since we have lost our more important hard running and team playing midfielders, cannot kick goals anymore!

I wouldn't say i am a Bruce basher, but the thought crossed my mind on Sunday when i watched the team huddle after the toss "I wonder if all the players would get fired up by any words Bruce would say before the game, and what would he say anyway?" It was just a thought, but i would've thought that the likes of Miller, Green or a McLean would be able to pump the boys up so much more.

Agreed 100% However, I get the feeling he might be trade bait at the end of the year.

I hope not, but he may well be.

I would very surprised if Brad Green was traded, I think he's about the only one from the old firm that is displaying good enough form to warrant another contract and his leadership could be well used amongst the young list.

WHO GREEN? are you joking?

green is three times the player bruce is

Agreed Goose, Bruce isnt a patch on Green across the board in all areas of the game - skills, hardness, leadership, respect, decision making, selflessness, even work rate which is Bruce's strength (in Bruc'es case though its primarily to push forward for an easy uncontested stat but runs hard all the same).

I wonder if you can remember the game Bruce played 3 seasons ago, on the Queens Birthday game against Collingwood. He fixed up Tarrant and also ran forward to kick some very telling goals.

Of course, the Red and Blue bodies he had around him then were a different class to what we have now

For gawd's sake ... if you're going to pick on Bruce at least limit it to some aspect of his play. Given the importance of warming up properly and soft tissue injuries that are worse in cold weather, Bruce keeping his tracky pants on might mean he's the only sensible player out there.

Posted
I think that would be a disaster, he MUST be retained

No argument from me on that. But I have heard his name mentioned from "certain" sources.

Don't forget, this will be the last year where the draft won't be diminished. The only other currency exisitng clubs will have is players who have currency.

Bruce was always the "go to" person for the tough task of manning up on James Hird. More often than not he came out on top.

You summed it perfectly - his game 3 YEARS AGO, couldn't think of another game a little more recently than that?

So all he is is a glorifed tagger, a run with player is that what I am hearing here?

Get off his back Jimmy and let's just support the boys eh?

As I said, our stocks a very low at the moment and we serve nobody any purpose by bagging every player who gets on our goat for some reason or another.

Bring back Paul Prymke or the Girg for that.

As for thinking of a game later than 3 years ago, the team, as a whole has not done much since then.

Support the boys Ivy, hahahaah, as Iva already said I am a long time paid up MFC and MCC Member who resides inter state and probably attended more games this year than supporters living in Melbourne.

I thought our 2 wins this year as a team were pretty exciting and entertaining dont you? Obviously not!

I wont get off his back, he's an overrated front runner and indicative of why you cant find a game that you felt we played well in for at least the past 3 years

my point is he may never be in our top 10 players, but he is a medium back who generally nullifies his opponent. he will be a handy depth player to have on the list, will probably be in our best 25 for most of his career, but will be in and out of the side depending on the form of both himself and others. when we are playing good football his deficiencies will be covered, but as a depth player he is reasonable and will hold his own.

trade him for a 3rd rounder and get another player of similar quality who is 5 years behind? bell is what, 23? unless we are going to get pretty good trade for him (ie 1st or second rounder, or a player), he will keep his spot on the list and prob play close to 150 games for the club.

I reckon that's about as close as it gets. Bell is never going to be a star. But he'll be a good player (even a cult favourite) in a more well-rounded side. The problem is we're at least a couple of years away from being a well rounded side. I think he's ok, but like Bruce, I'm all for a trade. Our long-term future DEPENDS on our recruiting, and if he's only a so-so player who can attract a high draft pick, then that's what we should take. But if he gets any lower than a high third rounder.... forget about it. He's worth more to us now.

He is nowehere near capable of being part of a premiership side - turnovers are killing us and he is one of the main culprits, his decision making is as bad as his skills

His kicking skills are good. His decision making is among he worst I've seen. But you're wrong about the first part. Anyone with his work ethic and hardness could be part of a premiership side. As one of he 16th to 22nd best players, sure, but every side needs depth...

OK Jimmy, you win.

Cameron Bruce is no good. He never was and he never will be.

How's the new screen name working out for ya Y_M? It's a corker by the way...

Bruce is a talented playmaker who needs strong midfield support around him to really show his best. Presently he has none and is maligned by the un-thinking accordingly.

I don't frequently post on here because I'd get more satisfaction headbutting my car door.

Hard to make the play when you can't hit a target by hand or foot.

He is an incredibly hard worker, he runs all day and he can play in a number of positions, but he's gone missing this season and his disposal has continued to decline.

I really love Bruce, his attitude is fantastic and he has never put a foot wrong off the field, but he is struggling and it's not just because of the quality of players surrounding him.

I'm surprised that you, of all people, refuse to see his flaws for what they are and instead choose to make excuses for him.

When things are going bad, it becomes contagious. That is our major issue at the moment.

He certainly is no superstar, but I continue to support him

His disposal has been questionable for 3 years now, and he has often gone missing when the pressure is on and we're struggling.

I support anyone who wears the red and blue, but that doesn't mean I ignore their flaws. Bruce has a number of problems that often make him a liability, and IMHO (and many will disagree) we should try and trade him at the end of the season.

That doesn't make me a Bruce hater/basher, it just means I want to get the best possible value out of him going forward, and I believe we can do that by trading him.

You may be well be right. But in the meantime we need to stick together

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
