It took only one YouTube sighting two years ago for ex-North Melbourne forward and Buffaloes clubmate Matt Campbell to be convinced of Sambono's ability. Essendon and NT legend Michael Long is another who has given Sambono the tick of approval as an AFL prospect. "I texted (Buffaloes coach) Mark Motlop after the game, asking 'Who's that kid in the No.5? He looks a goer'," Campbell said. Campbell was responsible for bringing Sambono down to Nyah-Nyah West United and has taken on a mentoring role with him. Sambono learned about Victoria's cold weather and being away from home, and Campbell said the young gun would be better for the experience. "I'd hate for a kid this talented not to get a look in, just because an AFL club is worried about what he'd do off-field," Campbell said. "He's not a risk, in terms of a Liam Jurrah. He doesn't drink and he doesn’t take drugs. "He's a great kid and all he wants is a great opportunity." OUCH!!!

I'm sorry you gentlemen are going through such difficult times. I hope you go to church on Sunday mornings and you pray really hard so that you might find deliverance through the success of our football team this season.

Bummer!

It's really an indictment on our poor recruiting and player development going back for a decade before that season. My big disappointment is for Jack Grimes who was a great servant for the club in difficult times. I know there's no sentiment in football these days but the club must have known that his days were numbered and yet they chose not to give him a farewell game in Round 23 when our young side had hit the wall. You can't tell me that we would have done any worse that day with Grimes, Dunn, Garland and Terlich in the 22 that day.

WJ tried that and was bagged by some [censored] who claimed he was trying to shut down debate. Go figure!

Don't tell me the AFL's expanding to Broken Hill?

Thanks for providing Cameron's stats. If he came from NSW he would be learning the words to some calypso songs in preparation for his forthcoming tour. I think it's an indictment that although we're in the middle of the cricket season his last first class game of Shield cricket was almost two months ago. In these circumstances, it makes it harder than ever to break into the test side.
