The whole philosophy of ALDI is to spend very little money and be extremely efficient. They would never sponsor a sporting team. In fact spending money on sponsorships or advertising could in fact damage their brand as it goes against the budget image that they have successfully created.
-
The good news is that Melbourne are still getting sponsors with another bigger co-sponsor still to come.

Globe and the MFC aren't connected. The guy that runs Globe is Melbourne supporter.

It's a hell of a lot closer than Ballarat and I bet that the surface is far better than at Arden Street. Besides, there is next to no traffic for the players so the actual travel time wouldn't be all that much greater. North would be jealous, and so they should be that Melbourne now have access to a world-class sporting facility (for multiple sports) in a fast-growing area with a city council that extremely supportive and welcoming of the club. Melbourne now have a genuine chance to grow the supporter base and member base of the club and to position themselves amongst the local community. EDIT: Simpson clearly has a short memory because it isn't the first time he has been to Casey Fields.

I can only remember one goal coming from a mark by a leading forward in the forward line. The conditions weren't ideal for this but it's a real worry. There were times when there was literally no one in the forward line. How are midfielders meant to kick to forwards if forwards aren't there?
-
Petterd has just about the best balance and best poise since Jared Rivers.
-
I don't think the forwards were all that bad for the simple reason that for a large proportion of the game no one was playing in the forward line.
-
I really like the look of Bell in the midfield (I called it some time ago) and Petterd was great up forward.
-
I've changed my expectations. Any less than eight wins will be a disappointment. Finish 10th - 7th.

I left halfway through the last quarter (the rain was getting ridiculous) when Melbourne were a couple of goals down and was surprised to learn that they lost by so much as they were just about the better team up until that point. I was really impressed with Jetta, Bennell, Spencer, Jones, Moloney and Garland.

He won't be able to. Hankook tyres have too much traction. It's common knowledge. -
Thank you very much for your efforts faultydet. It is greatly appreciated.

A win is a win as far as I'm concerned and it can only be a good thing.

There is a photo of Jones down the button.

Could Jack Grimes win the rising star?
Straight Sets Simon replied to Neita3000's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree with Freak. Bate, Frawley, Grimes and Jones all have limited or ugly kicking actions. They are not necessarily bad kicks but their actions restrict how good they can be. It's a like a golf swing, some people have terrible looking swings but use it to the best of their ability, for example they may play off 10. But if they want to play off 5 the only way they can do this is by changing their swing. -
The head (I think) of Globe is a mad keen Melbourne supporter and was just helping out with the Youth Summit. Globe is a skate shoe brand and probably wouldn't look to advertise in the AFL envirnoment, but I may be wrong.

Just one more thing that Cameron Schwab mentioned that I thought was really great was that Casey would be referred to as a "campus", in the same way that universities have multiple campuses. That is the MCG would be a campus, bubbledome (?) and Casey would all be campuses of the MFC. It's only a little thing, but to me it turns what sounds like a weakness (not having a single home base) into a strength (having a broad range of bases and facilities).
-
My bad. Getting my dates confused.

Casey is the week after.

You need to clarify that these are only suggestions and won't necessarily be implemented. The day was really good and I'm glad I made the effort to go. The video at the start was really good and it would be great if it could be uploaded for everyone to see. It was just your standard highlights with music but it was very well made and edited. I won't go into too much detail now, but basically everyone was split into three groups and each group spent 30 minutes in a 'Communications' section - looking at how the club communicates with supporters and members, a 'Match day' section - which looked at things such as before and after game functions and events and a 'What's cool' section that focused on the branding of the club and the use of logos and alike.

Exactly. But for some reason supporters get more upset about losing possession deep in their own forward line (where the opposition are under most pressure) from a long kick as a opposed to a chip sideways or a handpass in the middle of the ground.
