Im sorry, but the Socceroos are a lot like the Dees....go missing in the crunch games unfortunately A fully fit Cahill and i may have felt different, we will see if he gets on the pitch at all i guess......I really give us no chance this morning. 0-0 is an outside chance.

Yes indeed do that D77. Dont mind having the odd punt in the country, since i live in it these days! I have had a horse go around in the country and its a tough gig!! I used to live in Malmsbury and the Mnt Macedon strappers used to come down to the Malmsbury Hotel and have a beer or 7. They were all over Green Moon the year it won, telling anyone who would listen. The pub went till very late that particular Tuesday evening. So i dont mind a horse tale! https://www.racing.com/horses/dan-zephyr Here is the form of your mates horse. It hasn't done much lately, but has had some red hot patches earlier in its career. It will be a good price anyway. Each way perhaps? Keep us posted.

Last day of the carnival tomorrow. I was on Bring me Roses on Oaks Day and it paid ok for the place. great run winner too good. Gai and Mr Bott have something like a strike rate of 33% this carnival. Anybody have any standouts? The pools are still pretty good. Definately some bargains out there. I got Tosen Stardom at 11/1 yesterday. Back to the 2000m hoping he strikes again. I see Aiden Obriens Taj Mahal at 34s is def overs. Gailo Chop for DK Weir is also overs at 8.00. Can Chautaqua do it one more time after being scratched at the barriers last start? I also like Redkirk Warrior in that race. As for the rest, cant go past Geelong Cup winner Venguer Masque and Gallic Chieftain in the Queen Elizabeth. Other races too hard for me. What do you guys think?

I managed to snag the trifecta, but not for too much unfortunately. I always follow Lloyd, but I went too hard on Almandin who got slaughtered by Dettori and I think the 5.5kgs extra from last year didn't help.....Thank god for Max, silly odds....was always gonna be up there and in fact carried 1 kg less than 2015, I only noticed 1min b4 the race..... Hope everyone had a good day...

Certainly has a devastating sprint doesnt he...
  6. Wadda We Sing replied to Toorak's post in a topic in Other Sports
Really, wow. 73kg! Is that common over there? Seems harsh. Did he have an injury.....?

Max certainly has the points on the board a la 2015 behind Penzance.... Does anyone know if he ran last year? I cant remember....

Cant argue with any of those. Bowman is 0-32 in Melbourne this spring apart from Winx, and has never won a Melbourne Cup. None of that means anything of course, if he wins. I know nothing about Marmelo except his Cup run which was excellent. It wet here this morning but im not sure if Flemington had any rain overnight? Probably the only other one im going to throw into multiples is Wall of Fire. Its a very even field and will be a great race. Almandin still the one to beat. Dettori is a worry, but I trust in Lloyd. Hes by Monsun and Monsuns have won 3 out of the last 4 Melbourne Cups, Pirates of Penzance being the exception. Darren Weir was on late night radio last night (does never sleep!) he said his runners all have the correct amount of miles in the legs and goes by the Bart Cummings racing manual. He has a 1400m training track up here with a rise at both ends so they train running uphill. He said dont worry about Humidor getting the distance, its more his position in the race. He needs to run midfield and relax and not be a leader. Hell be tracking Almandin he said as hes drawn next door. Good luck and good punting.

They have come out and said the TAB system cant handle anymore numbers........ha. Its nearly 50 years since man walked on the moon, but anyway.....

This story was posted earlier in the thread, its a classic and ill be sure to have something on him. D Turf and KB have gone very well and yes are quite entertaining as well as informative. I wish Roy and HG would do a race day!

WST Barman scratched, elevated temperature. Marmelo is now favourite at 8.50 on the TAB.

Interesting....Hartnell, Almandin and Humidor all drawn next to each other in the middle of the field. The odds of that happening alone are huge!! They are my three main runners. Ill be supporting local trainer DK Weir with the lightweight Amelies Star. Who Shot the Barman will get the trip and has hit form. (9yo tho) Single Gaze, Marmello, Rekindling, Boom Time, Max Dynamite, Johannes Vermeer and i have to throw in Tiberian....for the multiples. Ill come up with a few more no doubt. Im also a fan of having the field for a leg in Trifects and FF.. As mentioned on air this morning....and worth noting, that no international horse has won first up in The Melbourne Cup since Vintage Crop.

It was the pick of the day really in hindsight. The jockey said it could have gone around again. Well done on the Quinella and on now to the big race!

Thanks for posting that, i popped it into my quad, otherwise i would have missed it. I owe you a beer!
  15. Wadda We Sing replied to Toorak's post in a topic in Other Sports
Yes i thought so too. A start in next years Melbourne Cup a possibility. Last horse to win Derby and Melbourne Cup was Efficient in 2006-07. I somehow managed to snag the quaddie which paid surprisingly well, considering it had pretty much 3 favs. The tip from the guy in the local pub here in Ballarat was....... follow Weir, drink beer....

Hi Macca, ive been following a few and its the best betting day for sure. Shortest odds i yesterday was 3.60! The big fields tho can make it hard to find a winner, but back at Flemington will make it easier than the track bias winners of recent weeks. Im staying with Ace High in the Darby. Its been winning for me so why get off now? Dont leave out the Waller horse with Shinn on board. Its flying from all reports. You can throw any of them in for your first fours but a good outsider is Eshtiraak. Hayes seems to have them coming from nowhere as of late. As for the rest of the day, i like Hyaam in race 2, Mick Price. Race 3 a good outsider is Conchita, went well last start and is 34/1. Im staying on Nieta here for obvious reasons. Race 4 The Lexus, im on Kellstorm, a Galileo horse and brother to Order of St George, trained by DK Weir gets in well with the wieghts. race 5 is too hard, although catchy goes alright and at 8/1 is good value. Race 6 staying with Gai and Global Glamour, french Emotion was blocked in last start and is over the odds. Race 7 is the Darby. Race 8 is the Weir runner Tosen Stardom, was originally set for the Cox Plate but came here instead. Brained em at Caulfield last start over the same distance. Lucky Hussler is the danger so there is your quinella. As a final thought i have most of the above runners going into Honduras to win against Australia in the first away world cup qualifier at 2.05. With Tim Cahill going down last night, we have no chance at this away venue. So double your odds on any runner...haha.

Wow!! ....Sunline was my favourite horse for ever......so dependable. Dr Turf was just saying on the radio, because of her 132 rating, if she ran in a Melbourne Cup She wuld have to carry 63.5.
  19. Wadda We Sing replied to Toorak's post in a topic in Other Sports
Yeah it would be harder now for them to gang up on her i guess. Thats a pretty good prize for last place! I notice they give Winx a rating of 132.....well it would have to be 132 out of 132 would it? She aint done a real lot wrong!
  20. Wadda We Sing replied to Toorak's post in a topic in Other Sports
Yeah Mr Hayes has certainly come back from nowhere a few years ago. DK Weir continues to impress. Has Humidor and Galileo Chop in the big race. Yes Winx should win by 6 and you can get 6/1 on 10 lengths! Hey Doc getting up in the Manikato last night continues the trend of outsiders getting up in the big races. I think the trend might end to day though. This ones a freak.

wow the Netherlands failed to qualify? But the beat Sweden 2-1 so i thought theyd be ok?...The Orange will be devastated!!..Will be a strange world cup without them.....(and us). I had a friend who went to Honduras, had some interesting stories to tell.....hope the team has a good hotel! Go Iceland!
  22. Wadda We Sing replied to 45HG's post in a topic in Other Sports
Yes, radio is reporting it as well. Would have resigned had we gone through earlier.....First time USA missed out since 1986 as well....bring back Guus.
  23. Wadda We Sing replied to 45HG's post in a topic in Other Sports
Mexico and Costa Rica had qualified, so possibly tanking yes....Honduras is one of the most dangerous cities in the world..
  24. Wadda We Sing replied to 45HG's post in a topic in Other Sports
    No Its Honduras!!! Oh dear.
