  1. I wouldn't mind a thread like this being pinned. Always a handy reference when making the trip down. We have been given some good tips but haven't branched away from the CBD yet.

For the final v blues last year we lucked into a Japanese restaurant called Robata. Could see the MCG from our table and watch as the crowd going past build up. Good food, happy wife, good beer and wine, really good Sake!! Many Dees supporters in there so obviously not a secret, but excellent find to us.

    Possible team

    B: Freeman, Tomlinson, Gregory

    HB: Connelly, Adams, Moniz-Wakefield

    C: Steele, Tholstrup, Moodie

    HF: Sestan, Jefferson, K. Brown

    F: Schache, B. Brown, McAdam

    FOLL: Verrall, White, Hunter

IC: Farris-White, Edwards, Szybkowski, K. Windsor, Shipp

Werridee, there was an article linked on here today say Farris-White will be playing in a development league for the rest of the year.

Just FYI in case you missed missed it.

There is often some very funny posts on dl.

Most of them are intentionally funny.

Some are not - but hilarious nonetheless.

The quoted post is an exemplar of the latter.

Brilliant effort to squeeze in critisisms and backhanded compliments about a plsyer who has, without exaggeration, become a legend of the club in only 100 games.

    100 games means life membership.

Except may already had life membership for being a premiership player. A premiership that we probably don't win without him.

Come a long way since - check notes - a game we just happened to get flogged in?

Nice job highlighting that. Extra points for it being the same opponent we face this week.

If he had the right attitude at Gold Coast?

    That is flat out hilarious.

He was famously competitive and an obvious leader. Which is why Gold Coast made him co captain at 25 , and why he was an absolute gun player in.huge demand before coming to the dees - not some nobody with potential.

If he had the right attitude hs career might be spoken about amongst the likes of Rance and Scarlett?

    More comedy Gold.

Rance and Scarlett are unarguably both legends. 5 and 6 x AA respectively. Premiership player x 1 and x 3 respectively.

But May is 100% on track to be considered in the same league as both.

If he plays two more seasons after this year he'll get close to 300 games.

He's a two time AA, and a real chance of adding a third this year.

And of course, as noted, he is also a premiership player, who famously played with a hammy tear that normally would be a minimum 3 week injury.

    Thanks for the laughs.

But on a serious note, show some @#$$$@! respect for a legend playing his 100th game for the mighty dees.

Think you are being a little harsh there Binman.

I was dragged into an antiques / brick-a-brac store in country Victoria (Maryborough) by my partner today. I wouldn't say that I was kicking and screaming, but I think it's fair to say that she was more keen than my good self.
Anyway, whilst browsing I discovered this book - which I was not only not aware of, but it appears to be a first edition (1958). Needless to say, I wasted no time purchasing it, and can't wait to settle in for a good read.
What it did do, though, is got me wondering if any fellow Demonlanders have made any unexpected discoveries of little gems whilst on their travels.
I'd be interested to know of the treasure trove that we have out there.

    That is awesome!! Great find.

Really? A team managing the load on one of the most promising first year players to have entered the system in years?

To be honest, I took the original post to be about WCE tanking last year to GET Harley Reid.

Yes, first half was a Clanger fest. Not wishing to be naming names, but it was on for young and old. Two of those clangers howlers coming from the most experienced players, resulted in goals. Tigers score was the lowest against Demons since…  . Well Norm Smith was still coaching, but Ronald Dale had recently departed to make his own way in the footy firmament.

“Forty two points!” if Deep Thought was re-programmed to do appearances on the Sunday Footy Show. Not only would Kane Cornes be out of a job, the Velvet Sledgehammer would be speechless.

So subtract those two gift goals and we would be going back to when Methuselah was an orange boy to find the lowest score.

So despite the ‘G being universally cited as having the ideal dimensions for Australian Rules. Giving players the opportunity to execute their skills in “Space… is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how mindboggingly” bad the foot passing was.

Tarax, I had to relook at the poster towards the end, thought #slartibartfast had ambushed your account.

I agree though, the passing was "improbable".

Made the same post in game day thread. My sister had two of my Grandfather's done. I think it was the department of defence. It's a great way to honour loved ones. And many Ww 1 haven't survived over the years.

Dept of Defence, no. Dept of Veterans Affairs is where you apply for originals. (as well as commerative plaques for the deceased vetrans should anyone need them). The replicas are done by private businesses. There are many. We have one in Brisbane we use. But they are all over the country and lots of backyard vendors who do great jobs also.

Looks like Woewodin will fill those big boots.

He stayed with the backs, from the time he left AAMI, till the return.

They have a great backline system and being new to the big men's club, he will need sometime to know the role.

I think he will be the one most likely to play like Hibbo. He is bulking up well and developing a physical presence.

I think he will develop really well into the role. In fact, I think he will thrive just having a role.

High hopes for Woey. Just might need some time.

Two of the most important recruits for Melbourne were Bernie Vince and Jordan Lewis

They were at a time when Melb was crud for years and no gun player wanted to come near the club

We were in a critical part of our building phase with numerous young players and no one with Premiership experience on the field. Vince was a two time B&F winner and a great teacher

In fact there were very few at the club with any Premiership experience until Roos came along. No one knew how to win.

And Lewis, with 4 Premierships was possibly the most important because of his stature in the game. Players hung off every word he said and followed has advice.

These two with Roos (and Peter Jackson) rescued the MFC.

    I will be forever grateful.

Totally agree. I would add Daniel Cross, for the training standards he brought, to those two as well.

    He's absolutely killing Freo...

...and then Yeo takes multiple tacklers on & treats them like they were under 10's.

I don't really like West Coast, but I love watching Fremantle lose for some reason.

Maybe I am still addicted to last year's death ride!!!

Hard to believe tonight’s Lions side is the same side that made us look inept last week. The Cats have played well but gee talk about sloppy and dumb footy in the wet conditions from the Lions, extraordinary.

We will see last week as an anomaly in Brisbane's form. They can't bring that intensity every week. They got up after media scrutiny. They are back to being fractured as a team and will struggle, occasionally putting everything together to pump a side. Like Port over the last few years.
