  1. Can anyone please elaborate on how our debt went from 2 maybe 3 million, to 5 million suddenly? It's a step i think i missed, and it's perplexed me for a while now!

I would also like to know if anyone knows the answer to this? I couldnt understand how they could say about 2-3 million and then have a closer look and it goes to 5 million! Its not like oh bugger I forgot to add in that other million or two!

  2. Ah experience..yes.. by the time this team comes into its bloom..in 2-4 years there will be no Whelan.. so whats the point.. makes far more sense to get that EXPERIENCE into whomever wil be there

Whats the point...... The guy is a terrific player at the club, one that has given it his heart and soul and is a massive favourite of the fans. He may not be in career best from but he is playing good footy. If a player is not in career best form it does not mean they are worthless, 29 years old or not, just look at Rober Harvey. BTW 29 is not even that bloody old!

You have an opinion but are you honestly this strongly against re-signing Whelan or do you just like to argue, as you're doing on the Brock Mclean thread?

  4. You are a superstar Haydo! I'm honoured to be posting in a thread you have started

Does anyone have any footage of Watts?

I wouldn't have any idea as I havent seen any of the kids in action but from what i've read I'm pretty keen on Watts. A key forward would be ideal and he sounds pretty talented in this department. I like what Hawthorn did when they took 2 key position players with their 2 top 5 picks in the draft (Franklin, Roughhead) and have now set themselves up for 10 years.

  5. Good to see McNamara named congratulations.

Just on a sidenote keep an eye out for Rees Thomas on Port's side. He is named in the back pocket but pretty sure he is playing CHF. He played at Oakleigh Chargers and made the Vic Metro U18 team 3 years ago at CHF. Didn't get a gig in the Port 1's last year but has been shown faith by the new coach Gary Ayres this year and has been playin some very good footy. Im biased as he is a mate but its good to see that persistance can pay off. Pretty sure he wears number 17 but if anyone can give an opinion on him who is at the game would be great.

Shattered to not see Petterd and Newton!

  6. Seniors

    Casey Scorpions 2.2 5.3 8.5 14.7 (91)

    Sandringham 3.2 4.4 6.11 8.11 (59)

    Reserves

    Sandringham 1.2 7.8 9.10 19.14 (128)

    Casey Scorpions 3.2 4.4 8.8 9.10 (64)

Petterd best on in ressies good to see. Also good news Newton is back. Mcnamara in best as well

  7. Oh, Captain f*****g Obvious. No [censored]! The last thing we need right now are people BLEETING what the whole football world knows. What we do need is people who are going to be positive. Not just try and put a positive spin on it. and I think Jimmy is our man. [censored] off if your going to bring your negativity to our fight for our survival!

That is totally uncalled for mate. He is just worried about how dire our situation is. You can talk positive all you like see how far that gets you. What we need is people actually doing something. Combine this with a postive attitude and we might get somewhere. I'm sure calabreseboy is backing Jimmy in, all he is saying is that our situation may be worse than we think and pointing this out can only be a good thing. The more people who come to grips with how deep a hole we are in the more people we have doing whatever they can to get us out of it.

  8. Making the boutique stadium at Casey fields could help generate plenty of Melbourne supporters in that growth corridor if marketed properly. Gaining more support is what I believe will make or break this club. It's the great support the Filth have that allowed them to turn it around and be where they are today.

Transport is definatly a major issue. Setting up Melbourne buses may be a way of reducing this effect. They could run from the G or a major train station. Maybe even the Cranbourne station. I don't know if its at all possible I'm just brainstorming but maybe a sponsership deal with Connex or something where they run a direct line to Cranbourne at a certain time on gameday.

If the supporters embrace the idea and their is sufficient support I think this idea can work. Something needs to be done and atm this idea of playing at a boutique stadium is by far the best I have seen

  9. It's not as easy to do that any more. Clubs are not as willing to give up 1st round draft picks. For instance Hawthorn managed to get two first rounders for John Hay, whlst we got one first rounder for TJ. It isn't that simple

  10. I'd prefer Bruce rather than Embley.

Also would probably prefer Robbie Warnock rather than Ben Cousins. Very hard one to pick tho

With Neitz out and most likely Yze (McDonald mayb as well altho I hope not), we should have a fair bit of space in the Cap. This to go with McNamee signalling his intent to assist in recruiting a big name, we might get someone decent through trading. However I am not sure how we could manage this without giving up high draft picks which I doubt we would want to trade away.

Any way, long way to go and mayb some more wins to change the whole scenario

  11. surely he would be a rookie and cant play until we have a long term injury or cut someone at seasons end?

here is my list of people that should retire or get cut

Neitz, White, McDonald, Wheatley, Whelan, Yze, Hollan, Robertson

Why would you include McDonald in that list? He has won our last 2 B&F's and always has a crack!

I'm not sure how Grimes injury is travelling, but maybe he will be put on the LT injury list so we can promote Valenti

  12. What is the difference between him doing this and say him completing a uni degree, or having business ventures. There is nothing wrong with any of these things. This TV business he is doing may help him in retirement. The players arn't at the club all day everyday. He has time off. Why not fill this time doing something he obviously loves, and can benefit his future. It's not like he's going to go home sit down and think footy.

  13. Sorry to nitpick, but I actually think the complete opposite to this. Trav performed mostly when he WAS needed. He had just about the best game I have ever seen from a Demon in the 2002 SF. He was our best in the 2004 EF. He was among our best in the 2000 GF. He was a fantastic finals player. Unfortunately, there was never a lot of help for Johnno in the Melbourne midfield. It's easy to focus your attention on one player when you know that none of the other on-ballers will hurt you when they get the ball.

    Very true

  14. He said inexplicably walking off.

He may not have trained hard enough, I dont know, I don't attend any pre-season training sessions. I know that he isn't a supreme athlete, but I don't know if he has the capacity to be. I know that no matter how hard I trained, I could never be a super athlete like Crawford, Buckley and Cousins. If you look at James Mcdonalds time on ground every game, he never plays anywhere near a full game. Dane Swan comes off the bench all the time and doesnt play massive minutes. Not all players can go flat chat for all game all year. I wouldn't say I noticed TJ hitting the wall often either.

Trav definatly had his issues with how hard he worked on the ground in games. It would infuriate me as well. His inconsistency stemmed from this I believe as well as soft tissue injuries and the lactose intolarance or wateva you call it he had. I don't disagree with the clubs decision to trade him as it may be the best for both parties. But its a bloody sad day. He did alot for the club and provided so many truely awesom memories!

  15. Accusing Travis of giving up when coming off against Adelaide is dumb. He busted his ass to get us back into that game, and he did so. In the last quater he hit the wall. If you have ever experienced that you would know that you can't give ne more cos u simply don't have it. No matter what you say about guts and determination if you are spent you are spent! And Trav was spent!

Thanks Trav for all the highlights. We all expected so much, and whilst you may not have reached those lofty heights you have provided us with some great memories, the Troy Broadbridge tribute after that goal probably being my favorite.

  16. It was a popular and emotional win in front of 1000 fans and gave Hird yet another send-off in what has been a remarkable final season.

    FOUND IT!

haha pretty poor effort! I'd be filthy on myself if I handed an essay up with a mistake like that let along something that was going to be published in the paper lol

  17. Pretty sure when a player hasn't been delisted, he is still under contract when the national draft takes place. Therefore he isn't eligable. But by the time the pre season draft comes around the contract is over and he is eligable. So in this case Juddy will still be contracted to West Coast when the national draft takes place
