  1. Sydney lose Mumford, smith and pick 31 for 20 and 22... Not to sure they're that generous

Its basically Mumford for 20 and Smith and 31 for 22. It frees up a bit more salary for them and they can hit the draft with 3 picks in the top 22. I think theyd consider it, especially if Smith wants to play more midfield time.

  2. They could be doing a Gold coast and are trying to spread the age of their list. Which would be the smarter move. I dont think theyd want more draft picks though? There wouldn't be much point trading your younger guys for picks, would there? If you were Gws that is.

  3. Interestingly- Reasoning for Coll wanting pick 2 is GWS set to over look Tom Boyd as they all but have Franklin over the line.

Quote "News emerging overnight on the trade front via fox footy.

    Collingwood are set to do one of two things;

Trade Heath Shaw to Melbourne, along with their first pick, No 10 to the Dees in return for Melbourne's pick 2 - which Collingwood would be very confident in attaining Tom Boyd at pick 2, with the Giants set to overlook the gun forward with Buddy all but in his way. "

If its true, youd think we could get a much better deal from a WB, ST K, Carlton etc.

  4. I'm with you. Stuff softly, softly. He's going to be the bigger, stronger, fitter, angrier version of Jack Darling who we mourn we missed out on a few years back

We don't need a priority pick. IF Dawes and Clark actually get onto the park Jesse will be playing on the oppositions 3rd tall. Good luck with that. Goodbye bruise free footy

I was about to say he may have a similar debut season to Jack Darling. Agree completely with your post actually, pretty much taken the words from my mouth.

On another B+F note, and yes, i googled it, but only found previous winners etc. But, is there the total player votes for the B+F? I am just interested in Taggert, Barry, Fitzpatrick etc placings.

  5. http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-premiership/the-defending-premiers-fell-in-the-preliminary-final-how-do-you-rate-their-season/story-e6frf3e3-1226727079383

This is Fox sports end of year season review, for Sydney. I found it interesting in the 'Elite' section that they listed; Kurt Tippett, Adam Goodes, Josh Kennedy, Dan Hannebery, Kieren Jack. I agree, all of these guys are elite, but, I felt they missed an obvious choice, in my eyes at least. Jared Mcveigh, probably, in the top 3 most under rated players in the league. Just look at his finals series. Along with that he has outstanding leadership qualities and is just an all around great player. Glad to see he got the nod for a back flank in the All Australian team, much deserved.

  6. I don't think Pods will go. They need him imo, especially while Hawkins is so sore & so reluctant to play sore. but they have many young mids they could lose if they don't open the opportunities to them.

I know Pods looked blunt the other night, & he looked slow, but the other areas are of more immediate urgency to transition their Mids. they don't want to majke the mistake of making too many changes in every department weakening all areas at once.

I suspect they'll retire 3 of the 4 older guys, starting with Hunt.

    there is >

    Corey Enright - 32Yrs

    Paul Chapman - 31Yrs

    Joel Corey - 31Yrs

    Josh Hunt - 31Yrs

    ----------------------

    Steve Johnson - 30Yrs

Really don't think Enright will be moving on anytime soon. Still plays top shelf footy, All aus this year for the 4th time in the last 5 seasons. He is very much capable of another 3, maybe even more years of good football.

  7. Not sure if the SC Paige phantom has been linked on here yet, but Aish seems to be the clear No 2 pick by most in the know. If we keep pick 2 I'd expect we will be calling his name. Also I didn't know that Aish and Toumpas were best mates.

    Pick 2 – MELBOURNE – James Aish

    Club: Norwood

    D.O.B.: 8.11.95

    Height: 184cm

    Weight: 75kg

After debuting as a 16 year old for Norwood’s senior side in the SANFL, James Aish is one of, if not the most classiest ball user in this year’s draft crop. Although nimble, Aish comes from strong football bloodlines in South Australia, ans is the type of player who could be the answer to Melbourne’s midfield woes. There isn’t enough positive things to say about Aish, elite on both sides of his body, elite mark, elite hands, brilliant running game, composure in traffic, a play maker – I could go on forever. Unlike Dom Sheed, Aish has terrific pace and breakaway speed – which is why he is rated so highly. AFL ready for round 1 next year, and also the best friend of Jimmy Toumpas.

That right there is why we will be taking him. "Unlike Dom Sheed, Aish has terrific pace and breakaway speed – which is why he is rated so highly. AFL ready for round 1 next year" That pace, Paige, referred to is something we lack. Although Aish isn't the fastest player ever, he has speed and skills, which is a deadly combination. 75kg also isnt that light for a player in his mold, a running type.. he will max out around 83kg you' think. Any bigger and he's at risk of losing that pace that makes him such a bright prospect.

  8. Hope you are the right side of 30, Chris..

DeeM could use some support in the future...

send me a pm with your first name, email address and mobile, and I will be sure to contact you next time...

    Regards,

    Rollo.

(not a lot of games left in our aging list, I suspect)...

I've just turned 19 earlier this year!

  9. Really like what Jackson had to say in the Jack watts article...

Jackson indicated they are likely to go after midfielders from strong clubs who are seeking opportunities.
"The players who perhaps can't get a game with some very good midfields around the place," Jackson said.

  10. Based on hype, reputation,(the sort of stuff that stems from this site), body language, form (lengthy sequences without going near the ball), then yes. A lot of supporters have a paternal instinct towards such high draft picks, but as a footy observer I was disappointed

    read his profile...http://www.melbournefc.com.au/player-profile/jimmy-toumpas

It goes a little something like this... "The midfielder is a good decision-maker and an elite kick, and has worked hard to come into AFL contention. Surgery on both hips in August ended his season early but the Demons see him as a long-term prospect complementing the inside work of Jack Viney."

  11. So being smashed in a bump makes you tough? And because you wore it you are tough/hard/not a squib? LOL. When he is right in there in the clinches and doesn't duck his head I'll change my opinion.

Joel Selwood, Scott Selwood, Paul Puopolo, Luke Shuey...... there are some more if you want me to go on? players who 'Duck their head'... It's smart football because of the rules.. you just inadvertently proved he is a smart football player.

  12. Crouch at #17 is really a surprise.. had 25 possies on VFL debut this year. You'd think if he's there at #20, we would take him for sure. If we were to take Aish at #2, we would have to take an inside player at #20... Only recently has Jones moved from a back half to the middle, so I'm not sure if he is an inside player? Feel free to add info on this.. But one of crouch.Dunstan or, being an optimist, Freeman were there at #20.. you would think they'd be taken over Jones.

  13. His value is rising by the day- at pick 20 now in Knightmares mock draft- going to us too. Knightmare really does a good job with this kinda stuff. So, 3rd round pick for him definitely out of the question. But, you know what youll get, there will be no 'home sickness' his brothers at the club and a potential captain.. so he will push as hard as any player.

Also, we may be able to leave him in the VFL for a year. With guys like Grimes Terlich and Clisby (assuming he's upgraded as few expect he will be) then we are in no rush to play him straight away.

One more thing. I was reading up on him, and as of late he has shown he can go through the midfield.. I dare say he could very well end up an Atley type and gradually move his way into the midfield.

Oh! I also think it would be a great idea that we all allow him to develop and no one call for him as a spud, to be de-listed etc in his first year, if he is left to develop in the VFL or doesnt have a very strong debut season.

  14. Really ? He's had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus. Would he be any better than Jordie Mac in that role ?

Well, round 1 he kept Rich to just 8 touches. He is a good user of the ball, worth a look IMO

Edit- After Rich had come off a very good pre season.
