Yeah well if that's the case the former is correct and it wasn't via social media. I'm only guessing but maybe straight from his phone while he was out the room. Other than that, no idea.
-
It may very well have been a text message. She may have got the number from his phone. But if I were a betting man, no pun intended, I would bet that it was via a social media account.
-
No. They can be sent privately. Just like we can send private messages on demonland.
-
I take back what I previously said Redleg. This is also my apology to you.
-
It may not have been a phone number per say. She was most likely contacted via instagram, twitter, or facebook messenger. Far easier for someone to contact an unknown that way.

I was reading similar comments during the Bailey and Neeld years. Watts has far greater value than a lottery pick in the 20s.
-
Thank you for the update GNF. I too am a Watts fan. However, I can come to terms if the club wishes to trade him. Although, if they give him up for a bag of chips I think they have rocks in their heads and I'll be infuriated. If it were Essenscum, I know they would force the hand of an opposing club to get a late first round pick (or at the least an early second round pick). I truly hope we don't fold easily.

I did find Lyon frustrating this year when he suggested that any club looking for a new coach should look no further than our own Craig Jennings. I considered it inappropriate behaviour for a so-called "Melbourne man" as it was disrupting and had the potential to weaken the MFC. I understand that is his job, but we would never see K.B doing something similar. In all honesty, I use to love him but he's since soured in my view. I just don't like listening to him on radio. I don't like listening to his "jock-like" attitude and how he treats the young Sam McClure (granted he's an adult and handles himself well). I also don't like how he sits on the fence. Sometimes he seems highly supportive of the MFC, while at other times his criticism can be toxic. I guess a lot of us feel the same with this MFC rollercoaster. In comparison, I look at (listen to) K.B, or previously Jim Stynes and Robbie Flower and it (the rollercoaster) didn't matter. They are/were one-eyed and supportive. They have/had an ability to constantly offer hope whilst uniting the club and fans. I just wish Lyon would use his media position/privilege a little better at times. Now feel free to shoot me down, I know it's coming.

Quoted from KC of Casey in the Jack Trengove win the Casey B & F thread. "The runner up (of the Casey B & F) was promising youngster Bayley Fritsch who also won the VFL's Fothergill–Round Medal for 2017 which is presented to the most promising young talent in the VFL competition." Great to read! I hope we can acquire him in the draft (before another club selects him).

Great to read him win it. Also good news regarding Bayley Fritsch. I hope we can pick him up in the draft (ahead of other clubs).

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
ignition. replied to ignition.'s topic in Melbourne Demons
So did drafting Liam Hulett (pick #45). We may be saying the same for Mitch King (#42) and Dion Johnstone (#64) this time next year. Targeting Balic is not like going after Tom Mitchell or another Clayton Oliver. He does however show far greater potential than his current market value of a late 3rd or 4th round pick (#45 - 60). He was certainly better than Stretch and Bugg when he played against them (granted n = 1). Any upgrade in depth whether it's at the bottom end or top end of the list is beneficial. -
I'm barracking for Richmond, simply because I don't want Adelaide to win. Also don't want Lever to get that "premiership player" next to his name ahead of trade week. However, I prefer the likes of Eddie, Sloane and Tex as people over of Cotchin, Martin and Rance. So from that perspective I won't mind. Ultimately if it's a close game, I'll be happy.
-
Draft based on talent, trade based on needs.
-
Yes, I believe so. A friend of mine runs a dog walking business in the Richmond, Toorak, South Yarra area. One of her clients is his mother. She met Jesse at his mother's house when he was recovering from his cancer-related surgery.
-
I don't understand the constant speculation of Hogan returning to WA. To my understanding his mother lives in Melbourne.

I do recall a few years ago a rare poster here (claiming to be involved in elite sport, maybe a swimmer?) also questioning his operations. I personally don't know enough to comment. But from my dealings he seems incredibly professional - as expected. I also think Rob Jackson who works on strength and condition does a fantastic job. He seems incredibly enthusiastic, well respected, and since his arrival the players look and seem physically stronger.
-
Looked promising in his early days. Worth a look as a rookie if the club doesn't have any particular smokey/ies in mind. The same may be said for Michael Talia who was also delisted.
-
Great to hear. Thank you.

To date, the four delistings and retirement of Lumumba suggests we'll be trading in two players, while drafting the compulsory three (one may include a rookie upgrade). Any additional delistings from the main list, King and Vandenberg the only remaining possibilities, would indicate that we'll be targeting additional players in the trade period. I don't think the club will draft four or more players. Based on current reports, Lever and Balic appear most likely. Here's hoping another is added to the mix.

This year the Dogs have had a problem with player preparation and application. Many consider it a premiership hangover. The Dogs are hanging Stringer out dry. Do they not want him, possibly, but they also seem to be setting an example for the rest of their playing group. I won't be surprised if the entire trade period transpires and the Dogs claim they weren't able to get the right trade done, blocking any low ball offers in the process as he is still in contract. Effectively they'll be giving Stringer a scare and kick up the arse, while setting an example for the rest of their playing group. Ultimately I would love him at the MFC. But if he doesn't come to us, I hope he remains at the Dogs, where in the process, waste Dedoro's time at Essendon.

I disagree. From what I've seen Lennon is an inferior player to Balic. Lennon also appears out of contract this year and I suspect he'll be delisted. The only reason he'll be re-signed would be due to Richmond's initial investment of Pick No.12 in the 2013 National draft. -
Hahahaa All good Redleg. I respect a lot of your posts.

Sorry, I don't want to come across as a smart-a***, but my point is that we all have a slip of the tongue or make a mistake from time to time. Maybe he meant to say "the next three weeks will let us know more". Personally, I don't care if he is or isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. From memory, he's a country boy who grew up on a dairy farm. It's unlikely he's articulate like many of the private school boys that come into the system. What is important is that he can play good football, as well as understand and execute a club's game plan (plus abide by their guidelines).
-
Keep in mind each club must turnover at least three players each year. Three must subsequently be obtained via the National Draft. Rarely a club turns over just three. A club will often draft more than three and trade in additional players, thus the turnover is often between five and eight. This is a key reason why JKH this year, and Trengove and Spencer last year were offered one-year contract extensions. Each club must balance their delistings. Like Jetta a few years ago, JKH may come good, alternatively, he may not. Likewise, Trengove and Spencer were given a similar opportunity this year for which they failed. What our club, or any club, doesn't ever want is to be forced into delisting quality players as a consequence of poor list management. Thus, it is beneficial to stagnant the delistings. Getting rid of Garland now will not provide us any real value (e.g. a free spot on the list which we should be fine acquiring anyway). Instead, it would still chew into the salary cap and place more pressure on the list management for next year.

A direct swap for Jake Stringer thank you.
