Farewell Judd McVee
Not sure why people have this idea. If McVee can get to the Eagles free of charge it probably means they will pay him a premium over say Freo who would have to offer a draft pick. IMO bottom teams should avail themselves of this advantage. I hope he stays but the modern player owes little if anything to a club.

CASEY: Rd 15 vs Coburg
The worrying thing about Casey in recent weeks is that they have failed miserably in implementing the gameplan. You can see that they are instructed to handball at risk but it's constantly coming unstuck. Low kicks are the norm but they're falling short with players not being able to make clean pick ups. I liken the team to a bulldozer rather than a rapier. It is the latter which the modern game demands. We do need a smaller quicker player in the forward area. Anyway we watch in hope. A few weeks back I thought I saw green shoots so who knows

Wildcard Weekend
They must be listening to me.... The AFL is seriously considering introducing a secondary tournament that would run during the premiership season, award millions of dollars in prizemoney and could even offer the winning team a spot in the finals. https://www.theage.com.au/

NON-MFC: Round 17
Why the early start to the game at Docklands? I'd like it if we had some 12:30 games in the winter sunshine. Great time for a cheese board and chardonnay (oaked of course) Edit: I see there's another game at Docklands tonight which is probably the answer

CASEY: Rd 15 vs Coburg
Coburg have been traditional wooden spooners in the VFL often with zero wins or thereabouts for the season. This year is different with six wins and only one spot behind us. With our travelling AFL emergencies not available could be a tough match

Agree First half of next year is the acid test. Would be nice to see some more green shoots this year

Wildcard Weekend
I'd prefer a wild card competition. The prize doesn't need to be a finals place. It could be two million dollars and be played Monday nights between clubs not in the 8 after Round 12. Just like clubs in the EPL with the Europa League clubs could prioritise winning the Wild Card Cup over climbing from 16th to 14th on the ladder. Radical but with half the fans if not more not having an interest in the season something needs to happen

NON-MFC: Round 17
If that happens and it easily could the tenth team will effectively be four games behind the ninth. Amazing with seven rounds to go

NON-MFC: Round 17
Hopefully Oscar to beat Norris on the latter's home track. If it's the other way the WDC is wide open. Storm who are in third place play the Cowboys (12th) in Townsville. As it's State Of Origin week could be an upset. Storm have been hot and cold and have lost a few close ones. And of course there's cricket with Australia playing the Windies and England playing India in a ripper of a series in UK. AFL..... does it matter anymore. I'm more interested in the Tasmanian elections and the Devil's saga. (Tasmanian politics are very boring) Edit... sorry I forgot Wimbledon. With a number of the top seeds dropping is this "the Demon's" year to go deep into the tournament?

Kayo is 4K in 2024
So Stan won the EPL rights (formally announced today) and also announced today a $5 per month price increase. As Stan Sports is an add on to the movie/TV Stan the price is now $32 per month Let the games begin

NON-MFC: Round 16
Just saw the replay in an Age article. He could be "gone". Remember the VFL player who jumped the fence and flattened a spectator in the Army Reserve Cup at the old South Melbourne ground. Those were the days !!!!
