Jeeze, another hardluck supporter. Good choice, we haven't won jackshit since 1954
Yeah. I'd hate to sit through a decade like 1955-64. Strange person.

I don't think a single person has said the idea of a fund raiser is a poor idea .
One troll did.

Yes Yes and YES!
I'll have what he's having!

Congratulations to those that contributed to the club. It's mind boggling that we have to put our hand out each year to be able to pay the full TPP which is a core expense and fundamental to the winning of premierships.
Let's hope we get it right next year.
Doesn't bother me. It is really just another sponsor or a couple of thousand members. Nobody bewails as many sponsors or members as can possibly be lined up. Why shouldn't an inclusive group of members, with no vested interest, be acceptable?

I am saying he is the wrong type of player for us at the moment. We have a long way to go before a player of his type would be effective for us. Extremely poor value in our current situation.
I agree entirely. What evidence is there that this bloke is a team man? Can you seriously see him playing under Brown? Does he look like the sort of bloke to share the limelight with Clark? He is a disruptive influence centred on his own interest. AND he is an overrated footballer.

The club drafts skinny, fragile type players who break down, they are real culture builders.
Strauss is a prime example, 16 games since being drafted in 2008.
Take your MFC culture babble elsewhere you fool.
Stick to your fantasy football. You know nothing about real football. Keeping living your fantasy life, tough guy.

Needs to improve A LOT..
Strauss and Morton are well and truly in my firing line.
ill be zeroing in on Strauss more next year when Morton plays over in the Wafl.
Congratulations. Says all that needs to be said about MFC culture.

Liam, the club and the AFL are really in totally uncharted waters on this one. So many "issues" never encountered before.
I don't think anyone can predict the outcome with any certainty, but I guess those of us wo are on the pessimistic side regarding Liam's long term future playing sublime footy for MFC have reason on our side...........and I sure as hell hope we are proven wrong.
The club can surely only be expected to carry him for so long.....sure support him as long as it takes but in a cut throat professional competition where every man counts it is difficult.
Hopefully the AFL will be supportive of the club if they do decide to carry him into 2013 then things go belly up.
Terrific post!

Out of that back-line I'd prefer Rivers to Garland. Strauss, Nicholson, Watts, Frawley, McDonald or Grimes all have decent pace, and Rivers reads the play better than anyone, which has always made up for his lack of leg speed. Where Rivers gets caught is when he has to play the second tall role, as he's too small and slow. He also doesn't have Garland's "moments". Rivers as the third tall works.
Agree. And yet I seem to remember Garland on the Tip Rat for much of last Saturday - and effectively too, as he has been on a small in the past. Maybe the pressure is on the Nicholson/Strauss/dare I say it Bartram type rather than on Rivers.

Seem to be 3 standard threads that keep reoccurring at the moment.
1. Sylvia Yes or No threads
2. Viney and what pick his worth and
3. Neeld and what he has done right/wrong.
4. Throw in obligatory Moneyball reference.

Sadly, when posters get stuck into the "culture" of this club this single post typifies much of it.

There is no baby.
But it drank its own bathwater.

I am a Spencer supporter but I think that re-signing big Jake also brings a degree of conservatism. We have signed an aging Jamar, we have an injured Gawn and an ill Fitzpatrick.

Groucho wouldn't be ia member of a club that would let him in.

The rules are pretty clear, it's just no one bothers to read them.
And the trouble with umpires is they understand the rules but they don't understand the game.

Roos may look good and smell nice but never forget he coached the most tedious, uninspiring football in living memory. To paraphrase Bill Shankly "If Sydney were playing at the bottom of my garden, I'd draw the curtains".

Why is Joe Daniher never mentioned in the Shiddy wish list? He would be conflicted over his Bummer promise, but surely would like to have another member of the family. And he has to be a first round pick.

Did you have your pants round your ankles at quarter time yesterday? Getting closer.

I'm still chewing over "the proof of the putting is in the eating" (post 14)
It is either an option exercise or golf.

I wish there could be permanent and irrevocable split. We will always be Cinderella monstered by MCC ugly sisters.
This is just wrong on so many levels. Suggest you consult Dick Seddon and see how well "permanent and irrevocable splits" work out. Remember there is no Jim Stynes to galvanise tin rattlers next time around.

Well done WJ. As a fifty plus year supporter of the MFC I never fail to be amazed by some of the knuckle dragging neanderthals who purport to do the same.
But to project one's own lack of character, to attribute motivations other than friendship, understanding and "support", beggars belief.
