  1. It looks like he lowers his arms then releases the ball at about hip height whereas before it was about shoulder height. But he seems to lean back at contact which could mess with the direction of the ball off the boot.
  2. For lots of reasons I really like the idea of this as our base. Just wondering whether our building of even 2 or 3 levels high would block the view to the 'other' side of the track for spectators etc Perhaps the idea is that an oval is in the middle and our infrastructure would be outside the track. One would think if that was the case it would be factored into the build phase and we would know about it. How do others see it working...?
  3. i reckon any number of our players could debut eg Howes, Woewodin etc. In fact I would have Howes in the top two most likely. Sestan as a long shot. Being a regular 22 is another matter.
  4. An article that @mauriesyposted in the Kozzie thread says: "Richardson said the Demons are likely to wait until Wednesday morning, just hours before the supplemental selection period closes, to determine whether former Port Adelaide rookie Trent Burgoyne, the son of Power great Peter, or Old Haileybury backman Kye Turner, win a spot on the club’s rookie list". Not giving much away as that could be read as either will win a spot or neither will. We will know by this tine tomorrow. I don't mind the idea of keeping the spot open for a mid season draftee in case of a LT injury.
  5. Pondering my possible response: ignore the post: too late now! post what I'm thinking : you should be so lucky!!! take back my comment about feeling sorry for you...definitely!
  6. There is no way of knowing what May's $ will be. Generally the club has been very fair in its player remuneration and that May has not dragged out the negotiations suggests both parties are happy. I guess that is all that counts. With Kozzie, from news reports his reasons for leaving are about where he wants to live. There hasn't been much on the $ side of it. I would be surprised if the club were to under value him $ wise. Having said that he seems set for a stellar year which would make his value go up. I'm confident the club will find the money if that becomes the deal breaker. All that aside, Kozzie seems a really decent guy and would not forget the support and trust the club has put in him when facing challenges. That may not be enough to keep him but it would be in his thinking.
  7. Just when I was feeling sorry for you for the the pile on to disparage your good self you go and lead with your chin!!
  8. Updated for Steven May's contract renewal to end of 2025. Another key pillar locked away. Kozzie next, please!
  9. Correct. Was signed to end of 2023. So a two year extension.
  10. True. But the Bulldogs made sure they didn't have a 'good' pick to use. Their previous pick in 2012 was 21. Clubs knew that so there wasn't much point in nominating him after #21 so WB got him cheap. As an aside, we got JV7 cheap in the same draft.
  11. I thought Hunter was drafted under the old F/S system as iirc the 'matching' and 'Draft Points' system didn't start until the 2015 draft.
  12. Maybe the FD did but marketing didn't act on it. Lets assume FD forgot to tell marketing. Is it so hard for marketing to have 'training times' as an item to check before training. Better that marketing put up nothing at all than the wrong info. It is indicative of a process/communications that aren't working very well.
  13. Maybe @Demonland can send Kate and Gary a link to this thread. Not to pull rank on Marketing but for someone to reinforce that fans are a key stakeholder. No point sending it to Marketing I doubt they understand or would act on it. It seems there is a disconnect in communications between football and marketing. And an increasing disconnect in communications between marketing and fans if the Membership thread and this thread are anything to go by.
  14. Thank you, Protest withdrawn🙃
  15. A Protest, please! My pm said: Is it that we won a flag in the year that equates to the number of games a player played. eg we won in 2021 and there were 6 players that played 21 games (if my arithmetic is correct) similarly with other players in the team: games played all equate to a flag year... How is that different to the answer? Other than 2021 the others had to be flags in 19xx so the last two digits, no?
  16. Firstly, congratulations on solving @old55's puzzle!! I thought I had but it was only half right 😿 Thanks for the expansive clue. It did occur to me that each was a cryptic clue for player names but didn't have time yesterday to think it through. Not just saying that based on your latest post, as I am into cryptic crosswords and recognized the usual 'triggers'. You may recall with the 'roamin Bryan' puzzle we had a pm discussion about cryptic puzzles. Anyway, I have solved the second one, I think. Rather than go the 'early crow' like I did with old's puzzle thinking I have it, I'll pm it to you. Unfortunately, I have a busy day so can't finish this or 'old's puzzle. Will check in tonight to see the answers.
  17. I think I just solved 'old's' quiz so my brain is a bit too fried to tackle another one today. Maybe you can show one answer to get me and others started?
  18. It seems I've missed a lot of quizzes during the break!! Tim, is that you I heard complaining about @old55holding out on giving the answer in his quiz? 😉 And you've had this thread on the go for weeks and provided not a single clue! I shall ponder your quiz later today. In the meantime could you identify the items @Demonstoneand @Mazer Rackhamhave correct and show the answer. TIA
  19. Thanks for sharing od. There is some new info re the venues we have/would consider and its good to get a bit more clarification on the reasons nothing has happened. Just don't know why the club hasn't shared that publicly as here we are thinking the Board is wedded to the G precinct and relative inactive. As and aside, does anyone know if The Greens hold the balance of power in the Upper House? That might make it tricky to get a new venue up and running anywhere in Melbourne let alone inner Melbourne.
  20. Not directly related to the Fixture but don't want to start a new thread. Barrett is starting early with his negative 'headlines' of the MFC. Yesterday his podcast was captioned: How 'hubris' got to Dees with a picture of the players after the round 23 loss to Brisb. Today his podcast is captioned: The off-field drama that rocked the 2022 season with a picture of May and Melksham. I'll confess that I haven't listened to either. Not worth the effort as he just whines and whinges.
  21. Of the 6 premiership players OOC this year the one I'm keen to see signed is Kozzie. My guess is: May will get a short extension likely on less $ Hibberd will most likely reitire Jordon is an UFA so can look for opportunities elsewhere and probably will if he doesn't get regular game time. ANB plays an important role but at some point we need to develop someone that can replace him Rivers is important but we have others to step in. While it would be good to keep the premiership list together, I feel some need to move on to refresh the team and make room for those pushing for selection at Casey. imv we would be fine if any of the last four or even all four, moved on. On the bright side none of them would be re-contracted on big $ so the sal cap isn't really an issue on keeping them. Kozzie is the one!
  22. My comment was solely about your reference to 'ask the AFL'. I didn't doubt the comment about the AFL data base and Ticketmaster etc. MFC staff have 'read' access (as a minimum) to that data base. They also have 'update' capability because they have updated my info while I'm on the phone.
  23. The person didn't say anything about asking the AFL so not sure that is correct. It certainly hasn't been the case in the past. Other clubs are showing it on their website.
  24. I felt the same. After all, it was the membership department I called and if they don't have the latest numbers I don't know who does. I wasn't asking for the website to be updated which I can see is a marketing role. The person could have just given me the numbers over the phone. Having said that the person I spoke to wasn't very helpful. The little info I got was like drawing teeth. Haven't encountered that with our membership dept in the past. Maybe you can try, daisy.
  25. I didn't interpret it that numbers are down.
