  1. The cupboard has Ben Brown, TMac, Petty and Fritsch in it. The list has plenty of tall forward talent, the problem is injuries.
  2. Will Verrall just looks and moves like a player. I reckon he’s a goer. Be great to see him come on.
  3. Nice to see the Channel 7 commentary team are pro Carlton at all levels 🙄
  4. The biggest 2 criticisms of the game for us to work on: The centre clearance work in the first 4 minutes of the last quarter was the difference in the game. We get that right and we win by a few goals. Bowey gifted them a goal by panicking right in front in the 3rd. He needs to straight line the ball more. He’s got to develop his strength so he can take the heat. He’s a good kid, just needs more confidence in his body.
  5. I will say at the ground it was glaringly evident that the longer the quarters went on the fitter we looked. I think we’ve got our fitness plan right this year. That game goes for another 2 minutes and we’d win. They literally clung on for the last 10 minutes. Credit to them for that, but Salem should have kicked his goal and the score review doesn’t matter.
  6. I think this gets criminally overlooked. We have had no luck with our key forwards. That JVR has come on as well as he has at AFL level has been a huge bonus, but he needs a senior body to help.
  7. You’re certainly 1 of something.
  8. I reckon it’s a loss we can learn a lot from. The level required is higher than we’ve been playing the last few weeks. Our half forwards and mids got a fair bit wrong tonight, and they’ll be annoyed.
  9. I’ve settled down. The reality is that we pipped them this time last year and it really didn’t make much difference come September. Being fit and feeling good in September is what matters. We didn’t play well for sections of that game, and almost stole it. I’m very proud of the boys. When it mattered they came hard. Sometimes it just doesn’t fall your way.
  10. Just got home from the ground. I had a rubbish seat, which meant I was right on the line of that goal at the end. That was clearly a goal. I’m still livid. I don’t think I can get over it.
  11. Calm down. We didn’t play well and almost stole it. Long way to go.
  12. Oh roaming Brian’s coming up! TV off.
  13. That was the worst team defence I’ve seen from Geelong all year. Collingwood won the ball out the back at a stoppage at half back and then just ran into an open forward line. An under 15’s team would have scored through that set up. Horrific.
  14. Geelong have Dangerfield, Stewart and Cameron, and then a very big gap.
  15. Wait until you see him without his glasses on!
  16. If Dangerfield doesn’t do everything for Geelong in the middle they are a bottom 6 side. The end is near.
  17. Even when Channel 7 is talking about what Geelong has done well they paraphrase it by saying ‘which Collingwood have now stopped’. Is their supporter base that huge that games can only be seen though their lens? It’s just weird.
  18. Wonder if the producer at channel 7 might tell BT it’s not a great week to make mushroom metaphors?
  19. Jeremy Howe’s outfit.
  20. Totally, unbelievable.
  21. 100%. @Deebauched the growth of women’s soccer has nothing to do with the US soccer team, and everything to do with the calibre of player currently playing for Australia. They are easily one of the strongest national teams we have, and on top of their talent they play an attractive, dynamic game style. Good teams draw good interest. It’s that simple. Also, I’ve done a bit of work with US National women’s soccer players and even in the US a lot of them found it hard to make a living. We need to be encouraging female athletes, not trying to find a reason not to like them.
  22. I hope Brodie tears the next few months apart. C’mon big fella.
  23. I was born in Regional NSW then lived in Tassie, Queensland, Warrnambool, Melbourne, Geelong, London, Dublin, New York, California, Perth and back to Melbourne. I’m not saying I used to be a spy, but I definitely didn’t use to be a spy. The first rule of espionage is confusion.
  24. Just on Tom MacDonald… 6 weeks ago Melksham would have been the most likely experienced player to never play another game for us. Benny Brown has really only come good for about 20% of his time as a Demon. Sorry, I should have said ‘Premiership player’ Benny Brown. You get my point. Opportunities exist if you can see them, and take them. Tom only needs to come good for a 6 week period. Never write off professional athletes who’ve been in the system as long as these blokes. They know what it takes.
