That was the worst team defence I’ve seen from Geelong all year. Collingwood won the ball out the back at a stoppage at half back and then just ran into an open forward line. An under 15’s team would have scored through that set up. Horrific.
-
Geelong have Dangerfield, Stewart and Cameron, and then a very big gap.
-
Wait until you see him without his glasses on!
-
If Dangerfield doesn’t do everything for Geelong in the middle they are a bottom 6 side. The end is near.
-
Even when Channel 7 is talking about what Geelong has done well they paraphrase it by saying ‘which Collingwood have now stopped’. Is their supporter base that huge that games can only be seen though their lens? It’s just weird.
-
Wonder if the producer at channel 7 might tell BT it’s not a great week to make mushroom metaphors?

100%. @Deebauched the growth of women’s soccer has nothing to do with the US soccer team, and everything to do with the calibre of player currently playing for Australia. They are easily one of the strongest national teams we have, and on top of their talent they play an attractive, dynamic game style. Good teams draw good interest. It’s that simple. Also, I’ve done a bit of work with US National women’s soccer players and even in the US a lot of them found it hard to make a living. We need to be encouraging female athletes, not trying to find a reason not to like them.

I hope Brodie tears the next few months apart. C’mon big fella.

I was born in Regional NSW then lived in Tassie, Queensland, Warrnambool, Melbourne, Geelong, London, Dublin, New York, California, Perth and back to Melbourne. I’m not saying I used to be a spy, but I definitely didn’t use to be a spy. The first rule of espionage is confusion.

Just on Tom MacDonald… 6 weeks ago Melksham would have been the most likely experienced player to never play another game for us. Benny Brown has really only come good for about 20% of his time as a Demon. Sorry, I should have said ‘Premiership player’ Benny Brown. You get my point. Opportunities exist if you can see them, and take them. Tom only needs to come good for a 6 week period. Never write off professional athletes who’ve been in the system as long as these blokes. They know what it takes.

I lived in Perth for 3 years about 5 years back. It has the best weather in the country, and easily the best beaches of any city. Eagles players are gods there. The club is super connected. If Harley goes to Perth he’ll be set for life. The Eagles are the biggest show in town by a massive amount. A former Eagles player I know got a sweet job that paid him 200k+ a year, a job he was criminally under qualified for - simply because he used to play for the Eagles. You play 100 games at that footy club and your whole life is set up.

How far away is Matt Jefferson?
The heart beats true replied to Floody100's topic in Melbourne Demons
He’s really good over head, and is a very clean kick. I think what’s holding him back is his fitness. The stress of playing on bigger bodies drains him of energy quickly, and so he often looks to struggle to stay in the contest. I’d say he’s still 12 months away, but he has the assets. -
The interview was before training. He says ‘I haven’t got through training yet’. Let’s not jump at shadows. He’s not talking in real time. He’s talking about getting though training because he’s interviewed BEFORE training. It’s not all falling apart. I promise.

Murphy isn’t Daicos. That’s huge for them.

Ok, just for context, Harry played one good game forward. He looked great, but we also won a lot without him - including wins against Brisbane and Collingwood. All this stuff about how we can’t win a premiership now is just not true. Our system is ultra competitive. Our best player hasn’t played for 10 weeks, is about to come back fresh, and ready to tear the competition apart. It’s a speed bump, but have some faith. This is a great team.

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs North Melbourne
The heart beats true replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our biggest lost in 15 rounds is 15 points. We get no credit for being in games so consistently. Why’s that? Because we’ve been doing it for 3 solid years. Footy commentators hate consistency. Gives them no story to blow out of proportion. -
Dangerfield Approached to Join AFL Commission
The heart beats true replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don’t mean to sound condescending about professional athletes, because it’s a highly specialised skill and requires a lot of commitment, but how can a multi billion dollar entity seriously think it’s a good idea to put someone on the commission who literally has no experience with administration? An advisory role, sure. But on the actual commission? That’s nuts. The guys never had another job, let alone the experience required. -
Is this reported somewhere?

Love this!

I live for this kind of information. I’ll be at a pub quiz in 2029, this will be a question, and the entire pub will be in awe of the stupid [censored] I know. Thanks @Webber. Love it

A draft pick is a lottery. Look at Bowey and Laurie. One pick apart. Going a game clear of an interstate team in 2nd when we are massively in contention is worth a lot more than pick 4 vs pick 5.
