I don’t believe that just because one doesn’t enjoy watching women play football it makes one misogynistic.

If you read the comments on the day this was posted (3 weeks ago), and the subsequent comments I made, my comment had less to do with the particular comment I was referring too, and more to do with the tone of the thread during this time (which I noted in my original comment).

I talked about it with the poster who made the comment, apologised if I misinterpreted what they were saying, the poster was very gracious, and we all moved on very quickly. I do stand by my comment about not liking the tone of this thread during that period. There was a fair bit of unnecessary name calling going on, and I didn’t like it. Everyone here contributes a lot, but I had hoped that it could have been done with more empathy and less name calling (as I noted in subsequent comments).

Regardless, I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make, 18 days later, but I agree with you. Not liking women’s football doesn’t make anyone misogynistic.

i rang today as well to change my reserved seats, the lady said i have to go onto a waiting list again, not sure if this is normal or not, but i told her if i cant change my seats ill cancel my membership cause im not even sitting in a designated dees spot, its basically a few rows of dees members and then reserved public seating. last year it was fantastic, this year we have had so many close calls to knocking opposition supporters out who think its their right to sit in someone elses reserved seat.

lots of fun but im gettingtoo old for this now. give me a dees bay anyday

I’m in exactly the same situation. The club has been hopeless at forcing the MCG staff to protect the value of our seats, and so we’ve told them we need an upgrade (which we are happy to pay for) or we aren’t paying for reserved seats again.

This year I went to all our home games except one, and 8 times I had to move people out of our seats. It was ridiculous. The Collingwood home game was like sitting in the Collingwood members, and the MCG staff did nothing.

  3. Scott in the post match presser, according to The Age….

Two off-field staff contracted COVID, Scott revealed. Masks were worn in the Cats’ rooms. Word of flu had filtered through to the Brisbane camp. Holmes had a bout of gastro. Could his illness have led to fatigue, leaving him more vulnerable to a soft-tissue injury?’

This Is eerily similar to the prelim in ‘21. I’ll never respect him for doing this. They always have some excuse, that ignores that all clubs are dealing with things that aren’t going their way.

    It’s pathetic.

We've seen how poorly he umpires the footy for years and he's been no better this year.

How does he get selected to umpire a prelim?

Every time I see him I laugh about the story that he told security at the MCG to tell our cheer squad to stop calling him ‘haircut’. It’s too funny!

  5. Brisbane are going to finish top 4 and get the number one talent, and another first round player in Marshall via the Academy, 2 years after getting a pick 2 and finishing 4th.

The system needs a major overhaul, because the last 5 years have seen an unbelievable amount of Father/Son talent going to top teams for almost nothing, and then the academy system being an absolute lottery - unless you’re a Northern state club.

  6. Modern success is becoming increasingly about maximising what you have as your systemic advantage. For Geelong that’s country access for players, and home ground advantage. For Sydney it’s academy access, and home ground advantage.

Both Longmire and Scott are excellent coaches, but they are also given 5-10% advantages that undoubtedly help them. I struggle to think of what similar advantages most Victorian sides have - with the exception of Carlton and Collingwood and their ability to take advantage of big crowds, and the momentum they provide.

In a way it’s proof that equalisation is working, but it’s also highlighting where advantages exist.

Yes.  It is not official club training.

They all need to stay in good condition. Yesterday I was at my gym working out next to an incredibly tall kid that looked like a young Sam Darcy.

Then I realised it was Sam, and that I’m old.

I think the damage has already been done. You cannot walk back the absolute [censored] storm we had in the last few months. It didn’t play out well for us, nor Trac.

The best thing we can hope for is Houston stays out, we redeem ourselves and try again for slightly less of an asking price in 12 months.

I reckon the Houston trade went cold for a number of reasons - but the club was probably expecting to part with pick 10-14 as its first round pick. When that came in significantly over the last 4 weeks of the season the price became unreasonable. There’s a huge difference between ‘first round’ and top 5.

If he does move it’ll be interesting to watch what the eventual cost is.

We had a 9% decrease in membership, which was one of the worst membership drop offs in the league. Could even be the worst.

BBP where did you read this? I’m keen to investigate it 👍
