  1. I came to Melbourne in early 1965 from England. On the boat over I experienced my first game of Australian Rules football with a film about the 1964 premiership winning team Melbourne. After my arrival I was taken to a game between Richmond and Melbourne by my brother who was a Melbourne supporter at that time.  I have supported the Demons from this day to this and never thought this day would ever occur. Hallelujah l can now die in peace.

Stats are only a small part.

The facts are one player gets a game in a premiership outfit whilst the other floats between the seniors and reserves in a bottom two team that was decimated by injury.

When people try to align players based upon stats alone it is quite ludicrous- I accept that, but I wasn’t e one who started that train of analyses.

If some people firmly believe ANB could seamlessly fit into the Richmond line up as a best 22 and be a valued contributor then they’re clearly on some very, very good drugs.

I don’t believe stats tell the whole story either. You were the one who posted the link as evidence for your point.
I just don’t agree with people using cherry-picked stats that “prove” their assertions.

    Good grief!

You reckon Hardwick would play ANB for averaging a single tackle more per game?
    ANB vs Castagna

I am not a great fan o f ANB but Cherry-picking stats from a year in which a team came near to last as against the premiers  is a bit disingenuous

Try comparing their 2018 stats or their career stats which you can find from the site you have sourced. You maybe surprised.

    Goodwin has shown his hand.

He will keep playing Oscar and Weed as long as they keep following instructions. Only way they'll be dropped is if they don't follow team rules or lose fitness or form so egregiously there is no alternative but to drop them. Get games into them.

    Joel Smith. Same deal.

Tim Smith. Same deal, at least until Hogan is back in. Get games into them, find out what they can do.

Pedo, Trenners, can get ready for a long season at Casey, and silently pray for a killer run of injuries.

Tim Smith has been picked because he was the tall forward in the best form. Goodwin has shown his hand that if you are performing at VFL level you will get a game. On last weeks form at Casey the next tall option would be Keilty. Pedo is not in form at the moment and it would have been an injustice if he had been given a game this weekend. I am sure he will be considered again when his fitness and form warrant it.

Has Peders actually been playing for us at Casey? have heard nothing on him doing anything of note for months..?

Played last weekend. Was very ordinary. Would prefer they gave Frost, Smith or Keilty a shot on the form shown on Sunday

I found that many of his handballs today got us into more trouble than what he was under.

Quick handballs is one thing, but not to put the next bloke under more pressure. I prefer Clarry taking the game on and wanting to kick it more.

Thought he was as bad as Tyson today for causing turnovers early on. Both players played better as the game went on. Both will definitely be there next week barring injury. As will O Mac who I thought was solid today.

i am sorry for your loss mate , I am sorry for bringing this up today , i just thought if a little of what hell it is posters could understand might help

I don't want sympathy , i was just hoping to make people understand what he might be going through , there are plenty others here have fought and lost this battle here

I talk to people to try and help other understand what happens to families, in these trying times. Its Not easy, that look i see in my wife eyes when i do things for our daughters

thats what breaks my heart. Most thankfully will never have to understand it fully. Others will

I have always enjoyed reading Demonland and thank everyone involved. I am sorry i have derailed the thread , a first for me !

A much more worthy derailment than most on here mark. Hope things turn out for the best for you and your family.

I try not to care about the problems of others. Particularly anonymous others over an internet site, but posts like this make it bloody tough.

Feel for you mate. Deeply in fact. Hope your kids remember her in a way that befits your memory of her. Must have been tough for them as well as you.

It wasn't my intention to take sympathy away from markc. Just trying to give support to someone with similar situation. But yes it is hard especially for the kids.

I know exactly what you are going through. I wish you all the best. The Life of special people is sometimes way too short. 12 years ago today I lost the best wife and mother anyone could wish for.

  10. It's no surprise the posters on here who don't get it.

Try looking at the problem through the eyes of a sections of the community who have been abused and vilified for decades (sometimes centuries) instead of through the eyes of the white middle class male. You may find you see things in a different light.

  11. Went out and had a look tonight. Not usually a reporter but here's some of my observations.

He hasn't  been mentioned much on here but thought Smith showed some good signs tonight, got better as the night went on. Took some nice marks and kicks well

Hunt was also outstanding with his pace, started out being a bit erratic with his kicking but by nights end was hitting targets at will.

Petracca looks a class above, we should just bite the bullet and start him next week.

Brayshaw was also in everything and isn't far off.

Weideman still a bit off but shows promise. Needs to lead more till his body grows enough to match it with the maturer bodies.
