  1. With no manager it looks about right to me... I think the suing the club thing might be a bit of creative journalism.
  2. 'Hemingway', most of us have made poor decisions in life. Just not in the public limelight. Some decisions hurt others, some are irresponsible and often selfish. In Gary's case the story we got was that he had an affair with Billy's ex wife... I would think Gary's wife and family would have felt hard done by and betrayed if they were still together (I don't know these circumstances). Whether or not they were Billy took the moral high ground, seeming to claim some kind of ownership of his ex wife which is more of the boys club attitude to my mind. As some on here will know, I'm not a Gary fan at all but I don't think what he did was a hanging offence. Just another situation that shows footballers for all their ability on the field are just normal people off it.
  3. ...been thinking the same wild speculation 'Choke'. There seemed to be a few ahead of him by the end of the year and maybe he wanted or thought he deserved a guaranteed game. Casey didn't appeal.
  4. ...and "Moving Pictures" are probably not that upset that Shannon gave their song a reprise. On a serious note, I wasn't too happy with us picking up 'H' at the time. More from a football sense. It's a pity we did & even more so that it seems to have ended this way. What ever way that is. I wouldn't be taking the media stories as gospel though. Many have pointed to inconsistencies and landed them on his doorstep. Could it be the media have some of their facts wrong? Never...
  5. Well, we effectively traded Clark for him... It could have been a bit of a vanity decision...Roos thinking he could turn him around. Whatever, it was a pity we waisted the Clark deal.
  6. Speaking of Garlett... Where is he? haven't noticed him in the training reports.
  7. I wouldn't be reading too much into this 'Lucifer', Worsfold like Roos is a master of "smoke & mirrors". Don't know what the end game is here but you can guarantee the headline isn't it.
  8. The Tiges have come through a period where they overrated their list. They were good enough to make a few finals but not to win one. They've made some poor decisions, they overpaid for Yarran (I thought so at the time so this episode has no bearing on my thoughts) and Hampson to name a couple. ...but their biggest mistake was in re signing Dimmer. They were too scared and scarred to make the move they should have made a couple of years back. Balme will add some stability but will he have enough time to turn them around?
  9. I can't wait for the 2017 season to start...
  10. Judd's taking over from Buckley... ...or maybe Roos is and they are setting Judd up as the coach in waiting. Eddie has previous experiences with succession planning. I mean what could go wrong.
  11. Who cares...
  12. Go up to the local oval and run a quick 400 and see what you do. Should answer the question... ...of course logic says you are right, but practice is not always logical.
  13. Nice training report 'steve'...
  14. ...and Terlich finished 3rd in ours a few years back. Collingwood were a very average team this year and Howe was one of their better defenders, whilst not a great kick he was entrusted kick in duties at Collingwood. Shows more about them than him. Not sure it backs up your point about him as a quality player. I thinks he's not a bad player, quality is probably pushing it a bit.
  15. I think we are using the category B picks well with Smith & Maynard. If we find a good Irish prospect so be it but as 'Sat' says they are a bigger flight risk...
  16. You almost had me until "Lloyd (on-field)"...
  17. Good luck collecting...
  18. He might have worked harder than anyone else but no one is going to build an elite tank in 8 weeks away from the club... Remember this is only the first week of his first full preseason.
  19. I think they are both talented young players. In making your point on Parish though I think you pushed it a little bit over the top by insinuating not all clubs would be keen on Oliver. If he was OOC I would be more than surprised if he didn't have the same level of interest as Parish. ...by the way, I haven't contacted all clubs to confirm my thinking here.
  20. Yep, agree. More that I don't see the point in De Boer if we are letting Grimes go. Given it's a Hagdorn rumour probably nothing to it.
  21. I guess the successful team thing is all that he has over Grimes. If we were looking to rookie him I would rather throw Jack a lifeline if no one else picks him up.
  22. Follow your own line of thought 'stuie', I was answering your question about me.
  23. I work for myself 'stuie', which means I work for the people who want to pay for my services. If my service is not up to scratch or I am out of favour then it reflects in what I make. If you work for a company (not government) then whether you understand it or not the financials of that company have an impact on your salary. If the company is failing for whatever reason then chances are you will get the ultimate pay cut.
  24. You must be a government worker 'stuie'...
  25. It's going to be interesting to see how this goes. From a personal point of view I'm not particularly interested in watching the womens game. I think it's a good thing that we are involved as a foundation club and will support our team from afar but that's about it for me. Now I'm not really into popular culture as such and would be the last person to say I have a handle on what the public wants. I would be a terrible TV programmer, I would scrap the footy show and get rid of all those cooking shows and so called reality TV shows. All a raging success. Because of this I don't profess to know how the womens game will go. I don't think we will really know where the womens game sits until after a couple of seasons at least. At that time we would know how much money is being brought to the table (currently the AFL's table) and how it should be divided. Currently the game is riding on the back of the AFL. Without the AFL name there would be no TV, no sponsors. This has to mean something, so lets see where it settles and if it's the success many think then the rewards will follow.
