  1. Queeny I have just returned from a nice restaurant down the road, Illoner Staller, and my outlook on the world and Brad Green has changed. Im happy you've been in his corner as I have myself in the past.

    I accept your argument and concede. I was too harsh.

    I reflected over a nice bottle of Sangiovese and while all looked cool around me, I wasnt very classy in what I posted.

    I withdraw and reckon you did well standing up for him. Cheers.

    Well thank god did not get that far down the page i was so upset you could talk of green like that.

  2. I remember reading many times that Green had not signed and may put himself in the draft. it was in the papers more than twice. It was discussed if not here, then on Ology.

    So thats my source. He heroically signed on at the death knell every time.

    He had us over a barrel and fair enough went for it.

    I dont see him as anything more than a professional player who has been a good player amongst mainly average players.

    Did he put himself on the line? How often? Well a few times. Much like Paul wheatley's bombs into the centre it only happened a couple of times. But in the retelling it gets better.

    So he brave yes, going back with into pack to take a big mark a couple of times. he kicked 55 in his best year which made him A grade that year. He shouldnt have captained Australia but I was happy for him.

    Does he speak absolute Bulltish? Yes, in my opinion. His glib "Oh we will give it what for" smiling talkfests were cruel to endure, and hardly ever did it mean anything more than words.

    Loyalty. Im over loyalty to tell the truth. Give me Mitch Clark over Green, without seeing him fire a shot.

    Classy? Thats just an opinion you have. I dont give a fig myself, if footballers are only good footballers. Maybe Im not classy. Ive known a couple of good footballers and ive known some "classy" people. The twain dont meet...

    The bottom line for me Queeny is that he had a year to do plenty but he the only leading I saw him do was to run sideways of the ball screaming for a stat. I reckon he went behind Baileys back to the board, which is mainly the incumbent presidents fault but he was a part of it.

    He blotted his copybook in such a manner that Ive dropped off him.

    YOU ARE A JOKE OF A MELBOURNE FAN GREEN IS A GREAT CLUBMAN AND YOU SHOULD HANG YOUR HEAD IN SHAME.HE HAS GIVEN HIS ALL TO OUR CLUB AND YOU TALK OF HIM LIKE A BIT OF CRAP. I CANT STOP MY BLOOD BOILING OVER YOUR CLEAR HATE TOWARDS A GREAT DEMON.DO YOU REALLY FOLLOW MELBOURNE? IF SO MAYBE ITS TIME YOU TAKE YOUR RUDE COMMENTS TO GWS

  3. Interesting to see the negative side of this discussion go from "flat track bully" and "not a leaders toenail" (direct quotes there) to now saying things like "we're just saying he's not flawless" etc etc...

    I don't think anyone has said Beamer is perfect, but the people continually harping on his deficincies and even pulling out stats to try and prove their point (incorrectly mind you) are just managing to highlight the real reason Melbourne Football Club seems so heartless and gutless to the rest of the league, it's supporters (or a vocal percentage of them anyways).

    And don't give me this "saticsfaction" carp, of course no one is satisfied, of course everyone wants success, but nit picking faults in such a gutsy player for our club is helping how? Personally, I think some of you aren't "satisified" without something to complain about and you delight in doing just that.

    Very well said i love you beamer and you will always be a leader in my book.and also be the best and fairest player at our club in the history books.He does not deserve to be called leaders toenail what a bad comment.And he will get better again in 2012

  4. How old is col now? he really gets to me sometimes. I wish he would just get out there and use the god given skill he has and start to turn games for us. i think he is sometimes just in another world. Please col do it for your fans and knuckle down just like beamer said at the b&f you could be anything. GO DEES

  5. I think it is very important to have a leadership group in the modern game with all the pressure on the young guys in your squad. Its a very diffrent game to 20 years ago so its very important to lead the team by example. To stop the media from chewing kids up and throwing them to the dogs.It also helps with building a strong culture. Which shows why poor leadership = bad culture look at us in the last 5 years weak leadership on ground and a weak culture. I to can see the silly 8 or 10 men leadership could be a bit over the top but i think the 2 jacks will bring a strong culture to all the players over the next decade which will help our club play like demons again. Look at sydney adam goodes and brett kirk have set up that club for the next decade with a strong leadership group which won them a flag and there culture is very strong and got all the bloods fans just what they wanted a flag.I love my club but i think its fair to say we have not known how or what a culture is under dean bailey.No strong leaders has hurt the club bad in the last 3 years. But now we have Mark neeld who will get this team along with the 2 jacks and 6 leaders PLAYING LIKE DEMONS.

  6. Bailey was trying for germ warfare that day. It didn't work.

    Get over the deconstruction of Beamer. If he was 22 you would all love him and see no fault. Jones was a whipping boy and now that has changed as Neeld will turn him into the next Swan. Unbelievable

    Very well said moloney is a gun for our club bottom line. And he would be the first pick for mine every week going on current form if you cant see that then you are a joke to the red and blue army. Love some of the hate out there to go towards some collingwood scum or even GWS. lets go back to loving the best and fairest player.

  7. I said up to 3 games. No need to be pedantic. Cheers.

    Then peace in the Middle East to round it off. I would not be surprised that Neeld would be unhappy with 10th IF we put in the inconsistency of performances this year.

    Good. Because I dont think anyone made it. And the spirit of youth does not always equate to the physical maturity of men......

    your a funny man but this is my thoughts and thats what counts were im sitting so good luck with 10 th rhino we all love the club the same i just have high hopes cheers

  8. Good. We should also demand that players with less than 30 games experience play like they have 130 games under their belt. Its only fair.

    Its basically the same list as last year with Clark and changes at the edges. Everyone can certainly hope for finals and I think everyone does.

    But there is nothing wrong with making an objective assessment of where your side is at. It may give you a broader horizon to understand the good and also the tough times as well.

    I felt we did not get much of out of Davey and Green last year. Anything we get from them is a bonus IMO.

    Just my thoughts but i can see why you think this. But to me mark neeld will not be happy coming 10th he will want finals this year. And so do i. If you think 10th is were we are at with draw we have this year then in my view we have not even improved from last year with the easy draw we have. Lets start to demand results on the ground. GO DEES

  9. I think its not a big ask to make the finals this year. And we should start to demand finals football this year. We have the best draw in the comp and its time to stop making out like we are not ready. Thats rubbish and im sure mark thinks the same time to stand and be counted we cant keep crying that we are young. I for one will see this year as a flop if we dont make the 8 with draw we have. I know were young but we almost made it last year and we were bad. Time to let the football do the talking for this team and stop excepting nothing less than finals every year for the next 5 years. Just my thoughts

  10. FOUR JACKS = 13th FLAG

    I am now almost 30 years old and been going to watch the dees since i was 4 years old. We have had our ups and very big downs (2011) over my life time so far. But as a member of the best football club of all time i can finally see the light. And that light has been very much alot of hard work from BIG JIM and co. Now we have a club with all the things you need to be the best in this great game. And i think we have the best man for the job in Mark neeld and co to bring the best out of our very good young kids. Our list is no doubt the envy of other clubs as we get ready to take on the world at this game we all love. With all the pain over the last 5 years has not been for nothing we have a young team with some of the very best kids from around Australia. And what will make us the next geelong or collingwood is the 4 jacks we have as weapons. 1st we have Jack grimes who has all the tools to lead this club back to were it belongs and very good skills. It seems he has alot of time on his hands when has the ball which only the best players seem to have. 2nd we have Jack watts who i think will go down as one of the all time greats of this game he has all the skills of James hird and can run all day he will own our forward line over the next 10 years MEGA WATTS is growing into a man lookout. 3rd We have Jack trengove Who is now the youngest afl captain of all time. You do not get given a job like this for nothing i have meet the young man at our best and fairest and he really is very smart and mature for his age and to be seen as a captain by all your team mates at this age says you have a very special player on your hands. And we all know how much talent this young man has. And finally the most important part is Jack viney who we need right now as we all know our midfeild is missing that star power but this kid is as hard as nails and very much going to be the star we need i know its a team game but every great team needs star players and our four Jacks will lead this club to a 13th flag it might come quicker than alot of so called experts think just look at the hawks and collingwood both very young sides. As we sit here right now i have never been so happy as to were our club sits there will be some more ups and downs but our club will have its day soon. GO DEES TIME TO RISE

  11. I must disagree here. Caro has "quietly" put the boot into cameron for years. At Geelong last year she was leading the pack. Caro is a quality journalist but her Schwab slant is far too obvious. What relevance was mentioning $cully in the same article as the China Trip last week? There was no need at all apart from smug bitterness. That is not reporting news.

    Have to say i have always thought this to she is always laying the boots into cs. I wonder what her problem is? The club is really working hard to bring home that 13th flag and doing some great work. Im sure that mark neeld will be the next melbourne coach to bring home the flag we all want so much. And i will be off work for 2 months the day it happens. Was also good to hear jims brain op has gone well. Goodluck jim you are melbourne and we all love you

    Threads like this make me really disappointed in our supporter base. What does a player have to do to earn the slightest piece of respect at this club?

    Brent Moloney - lifelong Melbourne supporter, forces his way onto Geelong's list 'the hard way' - through the rookie list. As a second year player he features in their finals campaign before coming our way in exchange for a first round draft pick. Battles the dreaded osteitis pubis that stalls his career completely for 3 seasons. Despite this, becomes starting midfielder. Earns the respect of his club, going beyond the call, not just on-field but as a clubman and becomes vice-captain. Even after losing it through an off-field incident, he earns it back 'the hard way' through dedication and game day performance. Wins the best and fairest and finishes ninth in the brownlow. Above all else, this bloke is hard as nails and has never at any stage taken a backwards step on the football field or done anything other than what is best for his coach and the side.

    Anyone with the slightest clue about how a football club operates would realise you give this man the captaincy without a moment's hesitation. Especially given there is nobody else on the list who comes remotely close to ticking all the boxes that the player in discussion has. However, most of you operate under the mindset of a desperate minnow club, and want to give it a bloke that has 2 years experience and - while clearly a potential star - has in no way earned it, and as we have all learned 'the hard way' could be off at the end of the year for whatever club can arrange an under-the-table payday for him. Not to mention he is one of a long line of Melbourne players that bolted out of the gate, and the vast majority never became anything. It's the exact same cretins spouting this garbage who wanted Brock McLean captain after the 2006 elimination final. That worked out well didn't it?

    Fortunately I know damn well those in charge at the club would never allow such an embarrassing injustice to occur - because they know how football clubs operate - and Moloney will be the next captain of the MFC, like he was born and bred to be.

    When Trengove, Grimes, Watts etc get to the point they can list an equivalent CV than Moloney, they will have earnt it.

    Are you saying you think trengrove might go at the end of the year if so you are on the green stuff sorry but i agree that beamer will get the role and trengrove will be next in line

  12. I think it was a big heartache losing one of the best young players in the country but this could prove a blessing.

    I would like to know what you think We should do with our compo. I think having Viney Junior coming in and with Trengrove we have the making of a top 4 midfield. If we keep our picks we can hope to try find a fast running outside player with class. But this could take more time and you never really know with picks 10 and maybe 14 and with Adelaide wanting to get their hands on Viney Junior they might make us use one of our first picks. So I think

    We should not gamble on this and trade on the Scully compo and get a readymade player who is ready for our assault on the top 4 and a 13th flag. With the GWS having all the power next year there is a lot of great players holding out their contracts to get a big pay day. Having this compo we are in a strong position to attack. so think we could find a readymade leader were we have been a bit weak since the great Junior McDonald was sent away and Brad Green yet to show he has what it takes and he is around 31 years old. But he has been a great player.

    I think this will be the best time to put the icing on the cake for this GREAT football club. What would you do?

    PLAYERS OUT OF CONTRACT IN 2012 THAT I'M AWARE OF:

    * Sharrod Wellingham

    * Steele Sidebottom

    * Scott Pendlebury

    * Dayne Beams

    * Luke Ball

    * Brendon Goddard

    * Bernie Vince
