  1. Check mate?????

We do not have a FOJ sponsor.

check mate means you attack the MFC CEO with no idea whats going on. You say he had nothing to do with energy watch when clearly you had no idea. 6million for the BOJ is not bad is it? And i would think if we had nothing on the go for the FOJ carro wilson would be all over it. Cam would be working as hard as he can to get the best for our club.

  2. Not joking, you cannot base your faith in his ability to land a big sponsor on history.

He struggled to land a major sponsor last time, and got lucky at the last minute thanks to a couple of fans, and could not hold onto the sponsors longer than the initial contract.

EnergyWatch also sponsor the Victory and the Rebels, seems like they targeted Melbourne clubs, so it would be interesting to know how much was Schwabs work and how much was Energy Watch approaching the club.

Now the club is about to start the year without a sponsor on the front. Schwab has a very poor record with major sponsors at this club. Hopefully he lands one soon, but history does not provide any proof that we should have faith in Schwab. He has many strengths, this is not one of them.

Heads should be rolling at the club over this.

maybe heads are not rolling because cam has a major sponsor. That we will see very soon? And also cam had alot to do with energy watch if you listen to the interview. The owner said he did not follow melbourne but the melbourne football club business model made him want to be apart of our club so i would say that has alot to do with cam he is the ceo. going on current form he is flying check mate.

  3. I think you got a bit excited, i obviously wouldnt trade 2 top 10 picks for Gaff, but i will take to first rounders to get him imo.

Scully has his issues, Knee's ect, playing in a rubbish team will hurt him imo.

And i am a Scully fan, cant say he wont be good, but doesnt mean i have to think he can kick

Gaff is a top 4 pick, mids picked in the top 4 are normally very very good, Gaff imo is of this quality,

The other big one is that we have another year to see Gaff play, once he plays full minutes not a sa sub his numbers will spike but 5+ possessions a game imo which is big. He is an accumulator like this and apparently has great disposal.

We will obviously re assess at the end of the season once we know alot more about all the players on offer, Danger, Deledio, Gaff, Caddy ect

No scully is a much bigger prospect because teams dont throw 6 million to a kid with out doing there home work fullstop. They no more then you and me. And west coast will not tell me to get f%%% because if they do get to greedy and the kid wants out we have seen what can happen . And a top ten pick and a 2nd round pick is not a bad deal if he is home sick. So lets just say we have a diffrent view on this subject after all we both want the best for melbourne and its a good problem to have cheers.

  4. It would have been seen it as a slight loss, but Gaff doesnt have the injury concerns that Scully has.

Both are very similar imo, both high possession getters, Gaff with better disposal!

Really this is a silly comment now i hate scully alot but to say there very similar and gaff has better disposal says to me sour grapes. Scully is a much bigger prospect than Gaff. I would give up 1 compo pick and a 2nd rnd pick for Gaff. And it also depends on were we finish if we have a averge year we could be looking at picks 6,7 and 11 or 12 in a super draft so to say you would trade both picks is crazy. But everyone is hopeing for the best result i know because we lost a number 1 pick but lets just say i would be happy to trade 2 picks for a ready made gun like bartel or swan not Gaff. Lets not take a risk with these very good picks. We are 1 or 2 star players from having a real crack at a flag over the next 3 to 5 years. Lets not waste the best chance we have had since the late 80s. Does anyone think we should make a play for deledio?. He is coming out of contract and would add some class.

  5. Is this the melbourne football club. This is great to see. No more im so sorry dean ohhh thats ok sammy its not your fault. Mark neeld is setting the standard that is going to bring out the best for this club. an elite work ethic and elite compliance . Im a big sammy fan but there is no execuse when your a pro afl player.on the eve of your first game for the year

  6. We lost a player that thought he was bigger and better than the club we all love. If we finsh 10th or 11th this year we could hold picks 8,9 and 11 or 12 which in a very strong draft will be a very silly move to trade. unless we get a ready made gun who is under 25. Is gaff a gun? no way in my mind. Is he a chance? yes. But so are picks 9 and 11.Im glad we are in this position of power. And we should be happy to have this power back because the little money spider who tangeld a web around our club had all the power last year and played us like a fly and sucked the blood out of the club. Now we need to make the best move for the club and that is something i will leave to the experts. But if i had my way i would go for caddy with 1 pick or keep both. GO DEES 2012

  7. I have faith in cameron swabb to get the best deal. If that means we have to wait till the end of the nab cup so be it. It will be a long term deal that cam would be holding out for. We could get another cheap one now but if we want a big long term deal with the chinese it will be worth a few fans waiting for jumpers. I mean it is still the offseason so get the best deal you can cameron and i have full faith you will bring a big fish to the club goodluck and GO DEES.

P.S we have the best name in the comp.

  8. Big Jim just to add on to Striker475's post - the two big differences between Ultimate footy and dreamteam / supercoach is the draft and the scoring.

Each week you'll compete against a different opponent within our league across 9 categories (Kicks, Handballs, Marks, Hitouts, Tackles, Frees For, Frees Against, Total score and Goal accuracy). If I am playing you, we add up the total number of kicks for players in my starting 18 v total number for your starting 18 and so on. Whoever has the highest total wins that category. The person who has the highest number of category wins (out of 9) wins the round.

One thing to consider when you are drafting your players. Not only do you need to conisder getting the balance right in terms of positions (enough quality backs, forwards, mids etc.), but you should also try to get the right balance in terms of the 9 categories across the team. For instance do you want a Liam Jurrah type forward who may not get a lot of possessions, but who will (hopefully) get you quite a few goals, or do you want a Colin Sylvia type who will rack up the kicks / handballs, but get less goals.

Thanks mate cant wait to get it going just went on the website and read the rules cheers for your help. The live draft will be some fun cant wait.

  9. I hope your right and 2011 made us realise having better talent on papero than other sides doesn't mean you will automatically progress. A lot of careers & reputations on the line this season so lets hope we see a backs to the wall/then against us mentality for the whole season

I agree mate there is alot of players on notice this year under neeld and does not matter what you have done in the past. I think this is why we should see big improvments this year or they will be on the trade table come the end of the year. Who is your smokey for a big year i think watts will be our best player come the end of the year i have a feeling he will just hit his straps this year.

  10. Nobody smashed Brisbane last year, this is a danger game lets not lose sight of that. They have talented youngsters and will welcome back a fit, Merrett to their defence and a fit Jonathon BROWN who we know on his day can be anything. Browny usually starts the season well only for his older body to catch up with him. Having said that we should win this game and it will show us a lot about our lists change in attitude or not, but to think turning up and collecting the points is a gimme would be a big mistake

Mark my words we will smash them by smash i mean 30 to 60 points not really a smashing but a good win all the same.i have great trust in our coach and list to beat the lions with comfort at the m.c.g just heard nathan jones on MFC website and he talks about making sure the gameplan/machine runs well as part of his new midfeiald role and also says this pre season really has been almost double what they had done in the past i cant wait for the footy to start i might sound a bit cocky but neeld has me thinking we finally have some good structure around the club and our rise to the top is coming GO DEES

  11. Scored 10 votes in the Brownlow. 2nd best of all players at MFC, led the club for goal assists and second for tackles, and top five for possessions better than Trenners,Jones,McKenzie ect. A lot better than people give him credit for.

Wow did not see his year that good but stats dont lie i think we all know he should be number 1 in all these stats because he is so good when on.

  12. I think we will come out and smash the lions and hopefully build some winning culture early. The demons should win by 40 points with our talent. But you never know it is a new gameplan but we should account for them easy at home. cant wait go dees
