  1. amybody know if energywatch is still giving away sherrins for signing up?
  2. hawks, cats and pies will all be hard to beat but they're all short genuine ruck stocks so my vote goes to carlton...a fit kreuzer should see them top 4
  3. the only injury i've ever applauded was when Gherig did his hamstring trying to run around Nathan Carroll in that elimination final in 06...and i [censored] myself laughing everytime i rewatch it
  4. jurrah playing 3rd tall makes an interesting opponnent...then how do you cover overhead markers like petterd and howe...hope he can get his body right with all this running. anybody see how nicho went in the skill drills? we all know he can run but can he hit a target?
  5. hahahahahaha
  6. makes the decision to become a guarenteed millionaire look smarter and smarter
  7. jnr...though not of his own volition. every touch he gets is gonna burn
  8. Jamar is to Martin what Gawn is to Spencer. the former gets injured and the latter gets the chance to prove themselves. admittedly spencer will have to do it at casey level first but there is no such thing as having too many ruckmen. Don't think we should ever get rid of ruckmen unless they are truly awful at which point efforts should be made to replace them with a better big man. From reports the Demons are now the tallest team in the competition but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a solid stable of specialised rucks. In my opinion it is the hardest hole to fill if you lose a couple to injury. Also Fitzpatrick could be a smoky people seem to be forgetting to challenge spencer. not sure what value we would get for a 30yo Davey if he has a bad season this year which would make 2 [censored] years in a row Edit- Didn't realise s_hit would be censored...can you write the word crap? Edit 2- Apparently you can write the word crap...seems a silly difference
  9. The last remark by the commentator says it all - this footage is from '97! (i think). Between him and big jimma we have some decent alumni down at the MFC.
  10. seems strange that a thread regarding potential rookie picks is still going nearly a week after the draft has occured...perhaps a "potentially politically incorrect statments" thread would be more appropriate especially since we seem to have done so well with the rookies we got
  11. nicho #1 magner#2 couch#3 williams/sheehan#4 evans#5 sheehan/williams#6 hoping we don't have the same injury list as last year but just in case
  12. not phased if the money is spent on recruiting and researching 18 year olds or 28 year olds...if they are a fit for the game plan that neeld is putting together and they lead to on field success then they can recruit a 38 year old soccer player from Argentina for all i care. best return on investment is 4 points each weekend
  13. only been around for a couple of decades so plenty of modern names here: 1. Jeff Farmer- Was at the G the day he kicked 9 in a half...has a legacy as the wiz but could've been so much more 2. Jordie Mckenzie- Love this kid!! Probably weighs about 50kg dripping wet but throws himself into every contest like a beast 3. Aaron Davey- Admittedly he struggled between the ears this year but still remember him WALKING between 2 bulldogs players 4/5. Daniel Ward/ Peter Walsh- Always think of these guys as a duo...both underrated grunts who did what needed to be done down back 6. Russel Robertson- By the end he was more interested in mark of the year than the game. Not the best attitude but was bloody entertaining 7. David Scwarz- Unfortunately by the time i was reading the little footy books of the mid 90's the Ox had already gone through his 2nd reco so i missed out on his brilliant '95, but the way he threw himself at the ball made his moniker more than appropriate 8. Jeremy Howe- For similair reasons to Robbo but he does the work at ground level too. he'll be on my list for the next 10years with a bit of luck 9.Jack Watts- The MFC and Demonland are crying out for a fleet footed crumbing forward. this guy ran down lewis jetta on the wing of the G and his skills below the knees is sublime...who says a small forward has to be under 190cm? 10. Liam Jurrah- High flyer with the skills at ground level. If he can build his engine he could become even more of a devastating force Willing to admit that a couple in there seem to be favourite "memories" rather than players and the order will probably vary from hour to hour (already changed it 3 or 12 times) but it isn't tooooo bad an effort considering how many legends could've made this list since i started watchin mid 90's
  14. the day we drafted him i turned to my housemate and said "i can't believe we just used our #1 pick on a kid with a pre-existing knee condition..." seemed like a mistake at the time, and at the end of the day he's played a fraction over half the games he would have been available for if not for that same dodgy knee. that is the only real mistake i can see. who knows, i don't like the fact that he lied all year, and i think that the business with his dad was beyond sickening as was demetriou's reaction to it, but if i was him and was offered 6mil knowing that my knee could give out at any moment i'm going to take it. the general consensus seems to be that if we hadn't taken scully we would have taken dustin martin instead and whose to say sheedy wouldn't have gone after him in the same manner? anyone on here who says they wouldn't relocate for that kind of money at that age is either a liar or armish and i'm not sure brother ezekiel has ADSL2+
  15. poor bastard...hope he is able to get his body right. showed some good glimpses last year
  16. what ACTION did he actually take? the only ACTION he took was to effectively dob him and his mate in. "An investigation found Bock broke the rules recklessly, but, importantly, he did not intend the information to be used for betting," Anderson said. how can this be the case if he recieving a harsher penalty than the most undeserving captain in afl history? maxwell didn't miss games and the only reason i can come up with as to why would be the fact that the bet lost. "Bock co-operated fully with investigation and the investigation team is absolutely satisfied he was honest at all times."- the same cannot be said of the 2 members of the filth brigade...this is a shocking, shocking decision which only serves to highlight a growing lack of consistancy within the afl. Anderson said the cases were on the "same tier" but Bock's offences were worse because he told two people and one of them "was known to bet on AFL football from time to time"... 90% of people i know will have a punt "from time to time". they're not even close to being on the same tier and he certainly doesn't deserve to recieve a heavier punishment. afl missed a chance here to give Bock a well done on his forthrightness and hoensty, what incentive is there to do the right thing now? not saying that players should be betting on themselves or encouraging people to do so, but i mean really...what did HE personally do wrong except have a casual conversation with friends and family... EDIT- his only real mistake was to tell the authorites of a potential breach...can't see many more players coming forth if this is the treatment they recieve
  17. after winning his second consecutive liston trophy, valenti has to be asking "what more do i have to do"... he may be lacking in a bit of pace but surely you don't accidently win the VFL brownlow twice in a row, and i can't believe both the expansion teams passed on him at the very least...even port are crying out for something/anything in their midfield. EDIT- do like the look of mitsubishi (coined by binman), just hope he doesn't miss too many weeks trengove style...look forward to seeing who can brush aside more tackles out of him, beamer and tappy (possible drinking game there)
  18. Had a cursory look on the afl website and i couldn't see Shane Nelson's name come up...did i miss something or did 17 clubs miss out on a quality mid fielder?
  19. couldn't agree more... over on the "franchise" thread there is near unanimous condemnation of the private owner set up because said owner could change all aspects of the club with little care for history or loyal fans. can't see how selling out and changing our name, even for a millions of dollars, is any different. the afl and its supporters always denounce mercenary players (not to name names) so why would and entire CLUB do it. Melbourne Demons for life
  20. it's not like St Kilda to be in the news during pre-season lol
  21. i compare garland to rivers because there is noone else to compare him to, except that rivers regularly picked up the 2nd big last year. when rivers was gettin destroyed by the black and white filth why wasn't garland moved onto dawes or cloke? garland may be quicker than rivers but he's not the man to provide the run and carry out of defence we need, having said that who on our list does? alot of people on this site want grimes, tapscott and nicholson in the midfield so who does that leave to run the ball out of the back half, especially if davey and blease are going to be playing forward this year... in my "highly chemically altered state" my conclusion is that the club seems to have put alot more sotck in rivers (not that i agree with that) considering how he polled in the B&F sp garland finds himself in a tricky spot don't get me wrong, he has the stones and the potential to play the game and i would like to see how he's looking after all the running that neeld and misson have the lads doing but i really do believe (again thanks to all the chemicals coursing through the system) garland needs to work his core strenght up and become a genuine 3rd tall defender otherwise i can see tynan stepping up very quickly this is how i believe the clubs defence will line up for the NAB cup at metricon (which i will be attending live, who else will be there?) FB strauss frawley bartram HB rivers sellars tynan/grimes both barrels please
  22. how did goal machine jacko poll in his brief but prolific stint with the dees?
