  1. I'm just so uncertain about Morton. I see glimpses of what he could be and I think maybe he's turned the corner, only to see him shank the ball 5 mins later.

He did that interview with Matt Burgan a month ago saying he's trying to improve on his efforts.....all I can say is he better shape up or he'll be outta here faster than you can say Paul Johnson.

  2. This in from "Trades as they happen" on the AFL website http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/125176/default.aspx

"UPDATE, 12.20pm: Melbourne defender Matthew Warnock has joined Gold Coast as part of a three-way trade deal that also involved the Brisbane Lions.

The deal saw the Lions give pick No.52 in the NAB AFL National Draft to the Demons.

In return, the Lions gained Queensland zone player Dayne Zorko (he was the captain of QAFL team Broadbeach in 2011) and pick No.47 from the Suns.

Gold Coast gained the Lions' second round pick (No.34).

Warnock will strengthen Gold Coast's defence in the club's second AFL season.

The 27-year-old has played 55 games for Melbourne since making his debut in 2006."

I had hoped that we'd use him to get Caddy, and I admit to my heart jumping once reading the word Gold Coast and Warnock in the same sentence but it seems he's gone now for pick 52. Should we throw that pick back at them? or maybe we need to get rid of someone who we don't really want to lose. Depends how badly we want Caddy. Maric and Bater are still on the table and Pencil is as good as gone.

  3. I'm not sure if anyone else has said this, but am I the only one who would be leaning towards Crouch more than O'Meara? My reasoning: the go home factor. He has said that he'd rather be drafted by a WA side, and I worry that if we spend our top pick on him, put development into him just to lose him as soon as he comes out of contract. I don't want to lose another No.1 draft pick when we could get someone just as good and know that he'd be less likely to get homesick.

Might be too small a thing to worry about if we were able to get the No. 1 pick in the Mini Draft, but I will be very disappointed (and many other adjectives) if we lost this kid to WCE of Freo just because he wants to be home with the family. I will not stand for it.

Here's hoping we make the right decision!

  4. Hey there,

Just watched his highlights package on the Melbourne website and it reminded me how much I enjoyed watching Blease play this year. Having not seen him play in VFL this year, I was very much excited with this guy playing off half back (especially against Gold Coast with his 7 rebound 50's). For anyone who hasn't seen it I'll post a link. http://www.melbourne...84/default.aspx

My actual reasoning however for posting this topic is to see what people think on whether Neeld should keep Sammy in the back half to provide that fast run and carry or whether to try and work him up into the midfield? I personally think he works well in the back half, but seeing him ripping up the wing and burning off some opposition next year also sounds fantastic.

Ps. This is my first topic, so if it's out of place or has been discussed already, do forgive me.

  5. Very excited indeed. It may be a rude awakening for some of our players, but its come to that point where its either, shape up or ship out. I look very much forward to seeing our boys play hard, tough, consistent footy; something that I can honestly say I don't remember seeing for a long time.

  6. I remember reading that Neeld might be a good choice, provided we don't get Malthouse, as he's very much aquainted with the playing style of Collingwood...duh. But surely he might be a good choice? and surely a lot more attainable?
