Excellent news, but could be some disappointment in the Jones household. We won't be getting Zac Jones now. Well, unless he slips to pick 40 ...
Unless we trade a player for a pick in the 20s. I found myself forgetting that there's a whole entire week still to go! Plenty could still happen.

Mentioned on the AFL website in the Trade & Free Agency blog:
"6:15pm: Senior journalist Peter Ryan has broken some trade news with Adelaide trading Bernie Vince to Melbourne for their compensation pick which is pick no. 23.
peter ryan @AFL_petryan
Bernie Vince officially a Demon. compensation pick to Adelaide. @afl #latetrade"

I assume we are confident we will get who we want at 9 and that we see Tyson as a homesick pick 3 coming into his 3rd year as better than an unknown pick 2 with no development. Also big believer that you should go by how a kid finishes their year to see what to expect they will build on. The below is a good sign. Look forward to recording these games when Fox Footy play them in a couple of weeks, Just missed Michie' round 13 game v Geelong as it was played 3 days before we announced
"But he finished the season in brilliant form, with 24 disposals against St Kilda in round 22 and 26 touches against North Melbourne in round 23."
Totally agree, but isn't that quote about the end of his 2012 season? Dom finished 2013 with 10 and 18 disposals against Richmond and Gold Coast respectively.
Still very pumped though!

So what happens if we get pick 38 for Sylvia compo and Adelaide say "nup not good enough?"
Could we potentially chuck a player at them instead or as well as?
Pick 38, Tapscott for Vince and Lyons?
Just spit ballin' here.
-
In: Tyson, Picks 9,53
Out: Picks 2, 20, 72
Going to make the Vince deal hard if Sylvia compo pick isn't in the 20s.
Do you know when we find out the compensation GM11?

Sylvia for Vince. I'd probably take that.
I'm still disappointed that Sylvia left the club, although I'm not quite as disappointed as I thought I'd be.
I've got bartender mates who said last night that Sylvia would hit town HARD on weekends. He didn't want to stay, he was probably counting down the hours for the to Free Agency period to start.

And sorry about that but my internet service is crap! Didn't mean to send same message 3 times! But what I say above is gospel as i have heard it. Relax and enjoy a bath with Radox...soothing
Just to make sure I didn't hear you wrong; are you Jewish?

The Horn has finally been blown
Eeewww! Too much information!
He's referring to the Horn of Gondor if I'm not mistaken.

He said the staffs reaction was a amazing when he walked through the doors this morning!
That was a standout for me as well. The man has status and commands respect.

Do we know when they will be announcing the coaching team? When Mark Neeld was announced, did his assistants come later? I can't seem to remember. I suppose I'm trying to work out if Roosy would have already confirmed his assistants before signing.
SO STOKED. THE PILGZ IS JUST SO STOKED. I SHOOK MY DOGS I'M SO HAPPY, THEY'RE DEAD NOW BUT IT'S FINE. ROOS IS COACH.

1) Bellchambers is better than Jamar
2) Jamar is finished but thanks to the knobs formerly running the joint were lumped with him for 2 more years (probably paying ~$350k for the pleasure as well).
Not worth a try? Surely stranger things have happened.
-
I've been told Bellchambers has a huge offer from GWS in front of him. Depends what Bombers are willing to offer him it sounds.
We must do all we can to secure Adams, If we can add him and a couple of first round picks (midfielders) to our list, I will be happy.
And Essendon would be keen to trade him on to potentially get an extra draft pick. That said, is Bellchambers a free agent?
If I were GWS who would I prefer? Jamar or Bellchambers? You'd have to say Jamar is a better tap ruckman, but is getting old. Bellchambers is younger but isn't as good. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
We can only hope that our ability to bundle Jamar with a draft pick would give us an advantage over Essendon. They most certainly won't be trading picks, I wouldn't have thought.

As Wallace said on the radio, someone of the calibre of Roos pays for himself.
If the man wants to pay his own salary, I say let him.
-
So Mr Watts, how do you feel about the clubs direction now?
looks almost certain to sign Paul Roos,
Geoff Walsh from all reports looks good too
PrIority pick on the way
Jesse Hogan coming onto the list
or you can go to Carlton who don't look like ever being more than a B- team
oh how the tables have turned * Laughs like evil mastermind *
Can we maybe not have a go at Jack for potentially wanting to leave? I'd be sad to see him go too, but there's no way I'd blame him either. And I'm of the view point that he wants a reason to stay, not a reason to leave. If Paul Roos is what keeps him here, rubbing it in his face isn't the way I'd go about it. He had every right to see what his options were.

There's an interview with him and Nathan on The Robbo Show this week.
He actually admits right at the end that he'd love to play for us next year. Let's get him there, if he's as driven as Nath, I'm all for it.

I would love so very much for Buddy to just flat out turn them down.
-
And just a side note on SA's domination of junior footy. Their Under 16's are leading Vic Metro at half time by 11.9.75 to 0.1.1.
Sweet Moses...

Morton was taken at pick 4, just fyi.
Pick 4. That sounds more like it.
-
He won the larke medal without playing last round. I can't see him dropping too far. I haven't seen much of these kids. Can someone give me a run down on aish and Kelly.
Correct, and Morton was taken at Pick 4.Morton won the Larke.
So your logic says we should avoid anyone who wins The Larke Medal because Morton won it and turned out to be a spud?
Turn it up.
-
What do they base these prices on? What do they know that no one else seems to?
-
He's been playing alright with the ball in hand, but I think he's a liability in defence. With Grimes back in hopefully Strauss I don't see him making it. Could be worth a trade bait to see what we could get, which wouldn't be much.
I watched a bit of a reply from yesterday and he simply has terrible intensity at the contest. He hangs back and almost never goes in hard, where often his direct opponent has goaled or assisted in goals because he's too slow to react. He can't play in the backline with those sorts of efforts
Yeah fair call. I'd switch him and Grimes in an instant, but I still think that its handy having someone who's quite a big guy in defense. Sellar couldn't do it and Pederson can't do it going off he's recent form. I'd love Straussy to get up and going but he seems to keep finding his way back out of the side.
Dunn hasn't done too badly over the last few games. Yesterday the defense was very solid right up to the last quarter when everyone dropped the bundle.
-
IMO Dunn is finished at Melbourne
I reckon Dunn's been playing some great, consistent footy down back. I can't even remember him giving away a single free kick last night. No arm chopping, no pushing in the back, and some excellent rebound efforts. He can stay right where he is. I'd much rather him there than Peddo Bear.

The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill
in Melbourne Demons
Posted · Edited by pilgrim
Titan (or anyone) are you able to explain; if today was the cut off date for Free Agents, how can we still get Cross? If it's not through the PSD, can we just sign him in the next week without any trade occurring and without WB getting a compo for him?
