Well , we're getting to the pointy end of the season JJ and it looks like Chicago and Miami have got the top 2 seeds stitched up in the Eastern Conference . And can the Knicks hold on ? Milwaukee have won 7 of their last 10 and are a bit of a chance . In the Western conference Oklahoma City and the Spurs look like they'll be the 1 and 2 seeds going into the playoffs . I'm still holding out hope for the Suns ( who've recovered well ) . It's fairly tight from 4th down to 10th with Utah on a bit of a run . Tomorrows ESPN game is the Magic @ New York whilst Saturdays ESPN game is Portland @ the Clippers . Here are the standings .................... http://espn.go.com/nba/standings Edit : Hey JJ , with Detroit and New Jersey unlikely , have you got a team or 2 you're likely to follow in the playoffs ? And anybody else out there in the wonderful world of 'Demonland' got a team ? If the Suns don't make I'll be hoping Chicago , Dallas or the Clippers do well . Though I still think Miami will win the thing . Cheers

One of my favourite songs . A huge hit back in 2003 . Clever video . Macca 7.1

Yeah , it's an odd move but then again we are talking about Rex Ryan . He thrives on confrontation . To me it looks like if Sanchez has one poor game , he'll be replaced . Same treatment for Tebow . Rex wants to keep his options open but he probably won't be happy with either . Sanchez doesn't like running with the ball and Tebow does so the contrast is there . Sanchez throws better but he's no A grader . Just another strange Rex decision . And the New Yorkers will boo Tebow at their 1st opportunity . Heard Tony Kornheiser use the term "Tim-sanity" today . This has all the hallmarks of turning into a circus . Good for us viewers though . Cheers

I like the way the Americans reward everybody who contributes to a successful season (however small) . By the way , I don't always agree with how they go about things but on that one , definately . Their attitude to drugs in sport ended up being a bit embarrassing . Now , they're getting much tougher on drugs . And rightly so . Got a tip this early out for the Championship ? I'm gonna be boring and tip Miami ! Cheers JJ

Well done to Patty Mills . Right place , right time ? Andrew Gaze got a championship ring with the Spurs back in the late 90's . I vaguely remember seeing him in those open top cars , being showered with adulation etc . Didn't matter that he didn't get that many minutes . It doesn't get brought up much and some don't believe it but one things for sure - they can't take it off him ! Cheers

Nostalgia time "Alan Parsons Project" with "Eye in the Sky" . Not an actual clip and a little bit out of sync but still good . Macca 6.9

Major League Baseball
I never used to be able to watch a regular season game . Based on the 1 game out of 162 - what does it matter ? But ................now that I know more about the rivalry's and divisional match-ups I can . And , of course they're mostly 3 game series . Seems there is always something to play for . Those Red Sox / Yankees games are beauties . And they play each other a lot . 18 times ! Cheers

Yep , Doug Heywood was famous for "The hustling , bustling Timmy Watson" and Doug Bigelow's "Flower supreme" was another beauty . Cheers

Agreed on almost everything there 'Bossdog' . I don't mind Dermie in small doses . He's got some good opinions but goes too far sometimes . Roos is getting better as well . I think Foxtel are taking the Channel 7 feed so we'll still get BT . I like his humour . I put the stereo on when Dwayne is on ! Otherwise I start nodding off . Cheers

Major League Baseball
If memory serves me correct , Toronto won the World Series 10 years ago or thereabouts ? Fair effort considering that division . MLB is a big pastime but the fans can take it very seriously hey . You've probably caught that ESPN doco involving the Cubs fan Steve Bartman . Scary stuff . Cheers

I follow the Boston Red Sox 'GTG' so I'm hoping we do well this year . Fell away dramatically last year . Too much chicken and beer apparently ! Philly , the Yankees and maybe St Louis should be up there again . Payrolls play a big part but not always . I know a couple of Red Sox fans who try to watch every one of their 162 games . That's keen ! Cheers Edit - I see you are a Blue Jay's fan there 'GTG' . We're rivals ! No , not really , I'm not that keen ! Must be great to be able to see the games live . Same with the Hockey yeah ? I've got a cousin living in Vancouver so I follow the Canucks . Again , not with any great passion .

I like watching the games JJ but don't really have a team . Saw Steve Nash live at the Sydney Olympics when he represented Canada vs the Boomers . He was awesome . So ...............I have a bit of a look at how the Phoenix Suns are travelling from time to time . It's a bit like the EPL for me , just like watching the big match-ups . Probably stay that way as well . Don't dislike any of the teams and don't have any favourites . The sport itself can be great at times . Especially around the play-off's . Espn have got the Miami/Chicago game on this Thursday around noon . Espn's Saturday lunchtime game is San Antonio/Oklahoma City ! Couple of beauty's there . Cheers

Current Television
Thought it was time to revisit "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific" . When 'The Pacific' came out a couple of years ago I decided to watch an episode of each series alternatively . That way you get to experience both the main areas of conflict of WW2 . Worked well too . Two really great series' and well worth a look or indeed a 2nd look . Even better in high definition if you can manage it . Cheers

Anyone for cricket?
Qld vs Tassie in the final hey ! "Back to back" for the Tassie blokes ? Lets hope a "sporting" wicket is produced so we can get a good game . The match is supposed to be on Foxtel but my listings don't show it yet . Maybe it'll be listed in a day or so . Will probably be streaming on "cricket.com.au" Cheers

Couple of classics there JJ from STP . I think you're right . All there songs offer something . Here's a track from "Lacuna Coil" , an Italian gothic metal band (now there's a combination !) This band have had some chart success and I just love bands with a female lead singer . Evanescence , Paramore , No Doubt and Flyleaf being amongst my favourites . This song is one their hits . It did well in the US and the UK . Macca 6.8

Movies/DVD's
The film "Ten Canoes" is one of the better movies I have seen in the last few years . The events of the last 48 hours or so has made me think of how this film in some ways represents the values of indigenous culture . This movie will surprise you with it's honesty , humour and on how human behavior hasn't changed that much over time . It's a really good mystery with native language (subtitles) . It won a host of awards at the 2006 AFI's (including best film). Every Australian should see this film . Highly recommended and here's the IMDb link for reviews and trailer . 4 stars out of 5 . http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0466399/

So where is Peyton gonna end up ? Apparently there's 12 teams after him . Perhaps more ! And he says he'll make a decision in a week . My tip - Denver . Reckon Elway will get him across the line . It's just a guess though . Cheers

Thought I'd resurrect this thread started by 'Cards13' Watched a terrific thriller last night called "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" . Having watched the entire Swedish trilogy a while ago I was a liitle sceptical about the English version remake but my scepticism was ill-founded . This film was very well done and was great from start to finish . 4 stars out of 5 . To borrow a phrase from Roger Ebert - "Two Thumbs Up" . Over 2 and a half hours so make sure you've lots of popcorn !! I'd love to hear from other posters recommendations of films young and old . Here's the IMDb link for reviews and trailers on this movie . http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568346/
