Anyone for cricket?
Yeah, I reckon the idea has merit. Helps give another form of the game it's own 'season'. It's an ideal way to start the summer of cricket. I'm not a big fan of the 50 over format but that October window could give it a good kick along. So we'd have the domestic one day series followed by 3 Shield games in preparation for the Tests in Nov/Dec. Then we'd get the Big Bash right through the Holiday period along with the ODI's. Finishing off with the Shield season. Little bit more streamlined. England all out for 232 in the 1st Test against New Zealand. We need those Kiwi's to knock their confidence around a bit hey? New Zealand 1 for 5 in reply ... lost a wicket as I was writing this post - typical! Edit: We play England in 5 x ODI's from mid to late January (2014) Possibly followed by 2 or 3 T20 Internationals.

I was surprised at the size of the crowds at the CFL games. It's more popular than expected. Hopefully by mid June our footy team will start playing a lot better, otherwise, it's the Canadian Football League for our sporting joy. C'mon the Saskatchewan Roughriders!!!

Early August. It's just as well I'm into the Hockey and the NBA. Definitely need lots of distractions from the footy club. Or for us American Football fans there's always this alternative (wonder if Tim Tebow will make an appearance!)

Yeah GL, the next 2 games are at home for the Warriors so they've got a 'golden' opportunity. At this stage anything could happen in the West. Memphis are in with a show over OKC. Miami put their foot down today and they're looking ominous. Next 2 are in Chicago though and you'd reckon that the Bulls could win 1 of the 2. Interesting that all 4 series have been split so far. Here's some highlights from today's Warriors/Spurs game. Klay Thompson lights it up.

Grizzlies get one back and the Knicks get on the board - Carmelo went on a terrific points scoring run. Both series are tied at 1-1 and it will be interesting to see how Memphis and Indiana go in their 2 home games coming up. Reggie Miller and Spike Lee had a reunion of sorts today ...

Yeah, it was a well put together doco, Demon16. Those '30 for 30' ESPN doco's are well worth seeking out. Should be a terrific series vs the Knicks. I reckon your blokes can do it. The Pacers are strong at points allowed and rebounds so we can look for some tight games. ... Scout's take: Knicks vs. Pacers (from a Knicks point of view, only one I could find) Anyway ... the Bulls get through after defeating the Nets in Brooklyn today ... highlights Wonder if Derrick Rose will do a 'David Lee' and make a brief appearance for inspiration. Might seem a bit contrived so I doubt it. The 8 teams are set for the Conference semi-finals now. Miami might be a little rusty but if they come out and win game 1 then we could close the door on that series.

Caught up with this ESPN '30 for 30' doco called 'Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs The New York Knicks' Definitely worth a look or at least to bookmark for a later time. With the Knicks through to the 2nd round of the playoffs and drawn to play against Indiana, the doco is quite apt and is a great trip down memory lane. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QLiu10jSto

3 of the Conference Semi-finals are now set. Spurs/Warriors, OKC/Memphis, Knicks/Pacers are all interesting match-ups whilst you'd reckon Miami will take care of the Nets or the Bulls. They would probably have more trouble with the Nets. I reckon anything could happen with the other 3 match-ups. OKC without Westbrook will find Memphis a handful. ... Watched a bit of the match and Andrew was very good - big game. Even David Lee played a couple of minutes and Curry had another good match. They're up against the Spurs next. Should be a good series. Highlights of game 6. The Nets/Bulls series goes to a 7th game after Brooklyn won today. Back to Brooklyn for the decider on Sunday (our time) Knicks @ Boston for game 6 tomorrow (9am ESPN) Should be a cracker. New York were leading 3-0 and they'll need Carmelo to step it up you'd reckon.

Spurs and Heat have their feet up but we've got 6 series all with a score line of 3-2. Boston and Houston would have to come back from 3-0 deficits and I believe it's never been done before. Heard some stat that only 12 Teams have forced a game 6 after being 3-0 down. ... Boston @ Knicks highlights (today)

Ha! I still wouldn't rule out the Jets going forward. Geno seems quite a confident young bloke and I expect him to be the starting QB. You just never know with Rex although the Patriots will probably dominate the AFC East again. In the 2010/11 season the Jets went 11/5 whilst New England went 14/2 so you never know. I must say, I like watching the Jets games. Just for the theatre alone it's good value. There are a few teams that are good entertainment value. Eagles/Vick, 49ers/Kaepernick, Steelers/Big Ben, San Diego/Rivers, Saints/Brees, Giants/Eli and even Dallas with Romo are good to watch. It's a great League and I find it hard to hate any team. It was only a couple of years ago that the Jets went to their 2nd Conference Championship game in a row under Rex and with Sanchez. So they're capable but they seem to be in the news for the wrong reasons a fair bit. Tend to think Rex likes it that way and maybe the organisation does as well. Any publicity is good publicity?

Geno Smith in the news already. Not sure what the bonus dollars are when a player is selected in the first round or indeed if there's any extra dollars involved if a player is a high draft pick. Couldn't see KC picking him anyway with Alex Smith on board. Although you're never quite sure with these things. Surely Geno's not upset about being in a 5 way tussle for the QB spot at Jets? Surely not? ... Geno Smith fires agent after fall to New York Jets

Maybe I should have started off with "Apart from the Bengals, any team can etc etc..............!" I didn't know that story Strafford, but it certainly explains a lot. There's probably a number of sporting franchises in the States with the same sort of issues with their owners. You do here stories here and there but the actual teams don't readily come to mind. Anyway, you probably mentioned it in an earlier post, but are you happy with your draft choices? Me .... I see a whole bunch of names who I know very little about! Obviously Green Bay have tried to strengthen the defense, offensive line and RB position but time will tell on whether these blokes are any good or not. I have much the same attitude with the AFL draft. There's a lot of flaws in the whole process so I don't trust it that much. Unless it's a draft where Luck and RG3 are involved although Russell Wilson went at overall pick 75! Imagine how some of the teams without a decent QB must be feeling re Wilson.
