Not an excuse but sound reasoning ... our forward line was decimated with injury and that was out of the club's control. And then losing Brayshaw and not being able to play Petracca forward was also problematical I'm not being disrespectful in describing our finals forward line as C- ... especially with JVR missing the Carlton final 2 months ago I posed the question on how we could possibly win 3 finals without even a half-decent forward line I don't believe it's possible and the odds say that we were almost certainly going to be found out at some stage I'm actually glad that being found out didn't happen in the GF Petty, Melksham, a fit Brown and a fit T-Mac are all sharp shooters too. As is Petracca when he is on song. Fritsch didn't look entirely right either Not forgetting that Gawn just couldn't find his mojo in the forward line either And I never make excuses

Yes it's been a bit tiresome but one consolation is that anyone can still win outright Usually with 2 weeks to go at least half the field is out of the running

Thanks, and you're a good addition to the site even though you're a bluebagger! Just don't tell @Redleg heehee

Imagine being a 20yo now with a completely open mind about rock bands? (both past and present) The 60's through to now to embrace But for us oldies, we've lived it all Spoilt for choice!! I was a bit young to appreciate and embrace all of the 60's but a lot has derived from that period. Just about everything was progressive rock back then The Beatles probably weren't seen as progessive but they were Early memories was the excitement and anticipation for the release of Sgt Peppers. It was bigger than big

Both, old dee According to Pert at the AGM tonight, we'll be at Caulfield* and keep Casey as a 2nd training centre. We do have 4 teams so it makes sense *See last post on the previous page on the why's and wherefore's re Caulfield (an overview from the AGM)
-
The 2 ovals that are being talked about would be located inside the Caulfield race track according to what has come out of the AGM (Pert) With possible buildings for admin and players gym and indoor training facilities being behind the back straight of the racetrack I'm imaging that those buildings might double as grandstands on race days or for footy practice games and such like After watching the AGM things look like they are in full swing for a possible training base at Caulfield (and we would keep Casey as a 2nd training base) It wasn't just mentioned in passing, more so front & square I was actually quite surprised at the focus on Caulfield by the club because if the subject matter was nowhere near being at a starting point, I'm not sure we would have heard much about it tonight (at all)

And we could have bet London to a brick that the Eagles were going to lose Mind you, my other choice for 3rd pick was Atlanta Houston was the team we missed on (or bypassed) I've had a quick look at the last 3 weeks and none of them are easy ... maybe one only dead-set cert on each of the weeks? I'm having a much better time of it following J-Mac & Zac in Hong Kong!! I'll post up the week 16 games later on

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Macca replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Rule of thumb now Bring in the big boys and bamboozle & baffle them with BS Works a treat And I can remember saying out loud at the time that Kossie was possibly going to get punished for his actions but others further on down the road? Off the field, there is no excuse for not getting consistent outcomes ... they've got all the time in the world to get it right -

So early in 2023 we were told that the illegal action (alone) not necessarily the aftermath, carried a suspension The thugs action was not only illegal and premeditated but he knocked the player out in the process ... no case to answer?? A football action was argued but that same action is now not legal? What's changed? Forget FIFA, the AFL is worse when it comes to corruption. Look after no.1 from here on in ... the rest can eat cake -

For those who don't know, the umpire reported the thug for unduly rough play (or similar) And paid a 50 metre penalty downfield Yet the prosecution never called upon the umpire for his evidence A total stitch up And it's why we should always argue strongly for our players ... Van Rooyen & Kozzie (early in the year) could have been cleared as all 3 incidents were illegal but only one player was cleared (the thug) The defence - both love taps or just bring in the lawyers and make something up Carlton & Collingwood (and the AFL) have shown us how to get a player cleared ... so play the system No point putting your hand up in a corrupt system as in a dog eat dog situation, no one is going onto bat for us -
Another important factor that can't be ruled out is the MRC having a need to increase it's membership at Caulfield/Mornington. They need bigger crowds after a total absence of patrons during Covid. And a bigger membership Having Sandown as an asset means that down the track they can be well & truly cashed up ... refurbishing and sprucing up Caulfield & Mornington is one thing but they'll want more members and patrons So if it comes to fruition, we get our new facility but the MRC could well be looking at our 70k membership to tap into
-
Not sure we'll be going into a 5th day The track has a lot of variable bounce and our quicks (and Lyon) will be in their element The day can be extended by 30 minutes which would give the Aussies until 9.20pm tonight AEDT (if needed) I'd like to see Pakistan dig in but they are 3/19 already

Yeah maybe but there's a lot of unused land at Caulfield now that horses aren't being trained there And we won't necessarily be dependant on the MRC as we've got our own money and maybe some Govt support (maybe) The key point is that with the redevelopment of Caulfield, there will be Crown land available for pursuits other than racing. The stables and infrastructure for training took up a lot of the area The trainers have taken all their horses up to Cranbourne & Pakenham My gut feeling is that Sandown will be sold off completely (eventually) and that will bring in $Billions to the MRC ... otherwise there might be issues selling off portions of land. Racing NSW had the same prospects with Rosehill until they decided to sell Rosehill off completely (for $5Billion) As for where we would be situated at Caulfield if it came to fruition, I highly doubt that the facility would be in the middle of the racetrack as some might imagine ... more so down the Neerim Rd/Queens Ave end but offices could be situated near Booran Rd or even amongst the existing buildings ... there's a lot of area freed up now that Caulfield isn't a horse training facility
-
The MRC own Sandown where, much like Rosehill*, the land is worth $Billions The MRC are talking about selling off a portion of the land at Sandown** to finance the refurbished Caulfield and what would make sense is the MFC using the funds from the sales of the Bentleigh Club, Leighoak and the pokies for a new training facility at Caulfield The real question is how much it will cost for the club to get into Caulfield. If the numbers are right, we're in (in my view) Later on, we could become partners of sorts with reciprical rights for both clubs etc Other than the cost being possibly too exorbitant, it's exciting times ahead *Rosehill is being sold off for $5Billion and that money will be reinvested into other existing race courses and infrastructure etc **All up, the land at Sandown covers 112 Hectares (or 276 Acres)
-
Couldn't believe the half time score too ... (42-0) The Raiders have got 11 teams above them in the AFC all with a game in hand so they'd need a miracle to make the playoffs

I quite like 'Mr Trafficanti' in R3 Caulfield on Saturday for a bit of each-way value 11.00/3.00 Well in at the weights and racing well

Erling Haaland out with a 'reaction' to a stress fracture in his foot. That probably explains why he's been a bit quiet of late Meanwhile, at half time at Luton, City trail 0-1 whilst their rivals are gaining points ... the big surprise being Villa who have emerged as a top 4 threat and are now in the title race
-
It's a must watch for test cricket fanatics these days (England/India) ... I'll be tuning in Such a shame that the Windies have fallen away so much at test level and South Africa and the audience over there much prefer white ball cricket these days Traditionally both test teams used to be so strong with stars everywhere but alas no more, certainly not in the near future anyway

Well, we all could have banked the Pats (not) heehee As for the rest of the games 7Mate 5.00am Jags (8-4) @ Browns (7-5) 7Mate 8.30am Broncos (6-6) @ Chargers (5-7) SNF 12.20pm Eagles (10-2) @ Cowboys (9-3) And for whatever reason we have 2 games on MNF at the same time? Go figure MNF 12.15pm Green Bay (6-6) @ Giants (4-8) MNF 12.15pm Titans (4-8) @ Dolphins (9-3)
