It's raining now i get that but even earlier when there wasn't so much.... Grundy ok around the ground sort of.... but boy he makes a meal of a fair number of contests and disposals. He's a big man yes and you expect some fumbles and clumsiness but gotta say he just lacks clean hands alot of the time and gets caught a fair bit. Does he use grippo as many of the other boys do i wonder? Hopefully he can keep things a bit cleaner frol here albeit not expecting much now that its pissing down. Nice goal from the Traccstar there

Why would you have your best receive clearance player not in the middle for the most part of the first half? Tracc. And instead play him mostly forward? Unless he has an issue with that ankle?

'Bogged down Clarry' seems to have lost his leg drive out of congestion this season. After quarter time or so anyway. Might be why he's back to the dinky panic short handballs and lollipop kicks selling us into trouble quite often and giving the oppo plenty of nice looks. Good dominant Clarry gets on his bike and works his way out of congestion a little before either finding a receiver by hand or kicking long towards targets. He's still getting from contest to contest but the other 'running/leg drive' bit is missing after the first quarter or so. He's also lost any zip at middle bounces and not really giving us much at 666 of late. This leaves too much to too little... usually Max, Viney & Tracc.

Correct. It also resulted in a neutral outcome even though the Hawks won the tap. Not bad! The other somewhat out-of-the-norm set ups (vs 2022) included... Tracc, Sparrow & Gus Viney, Sparrow & Gus Clarry, Kozzy & Sparrow x 3 Viney, Gus & Jordon I have the outcomes on these but won't bore you with the details

The world can be cruel sometimes Uncle I'm cracking an Angostura 7 year rum tonight which survived a duty free stampede at Port Vila. Some weren't so lucky and saw their stash get smashed on the way out! The lengths ppl will go to for cheap booze. Of course i just happened to be passing by and errr... well. Regardless i will raise my first glass to the restoration of all things good at the Manor, a speedy recovery to my old mum (who's recovering from a bout of the dreaded lurgy at the old Freemasons) and a win for our Mighty Demons.

Agree with this. We will need more Gawny than Grundy attendances at the 666 bounces, *the opposite of last week, if we're to win this imv. *Approx 62% Grundy, 38% Maxy Also more attendances from Viney, Tracc & Gus vs some of the more fringe fellas that we've been trialling through there of late. The break we've been giving the more usual core players at 666 is surely being (partially) done to save them for more attendances in matches like this? Not sure where Clarry is at in middle 666 bounces. He was nowhere near it last week. He will need to get involved alot more and be the other extractor to provide an assist to Max & Viney. Those latter two can't do it all on their own all night for mine (against this oppo anyway....lessor ones yes as we saw last week).

Ideally they might have ran him for at least one match this weekend gone had Casey not had the bye L but for poor timing.

Didn't attend any center bounces against the Hawks WWSW. Anything's possible of course but it would mean a bit of a turn around from last game. Agree Gus might get some more time here though. He attended approx 21% of center bounces on the weekend and performed pretty well both offensively and defensively. We had a higher 'effective clearance %' and 'lower effective oppo clearance %' when he did.

Think you're underselling Macca a little PF. He's a proud experienced campaigner and will add the "leading forward" who can also play higher up ther field as the connector at times. Allows Roo to play a bit more time deeper and focus on crashing packs / getting ball to ground and taking the odd contested. Roo is also a very accurate kick up to about 35 meters. Makes sense to keep him closer to the 30 meter zone. The boys will need to ensure they don't kick too many shallow entries though in order for the strat to pay off. Port will of course be looking to curtail that idea!
