  1. Howes was earmarked a while ago as someone who can play wing. So possibly wing or perhaps half back and Windsor goes back to wing. I think Howes was sort of pushed into a backline role out of necessity, but it’s not necessarily where the club wants him to play long term. He is a beautiful user of the footy, and good overhead. So actually wing is a role he would be well suited to. Of course the other option is he replaces Turner down back and we play Turner Roo and Petty up forward, which has been my dream all year!
  2. Turned this game on and then immediately off No thank you
  3. Trac filming this riveting game. Hot tip Trac: this won’t get many likes on TikTok.
  4. Laurie really enjoying the conditions
  5. Sestan a late out… debut for Monday??
  6. Watching Brisbane kick 900 behinds to lose the game
  7. Ross Lyon coached one of the most talented teams in recent decades and got them 0 flags. He’s also coached the joke that is Fremantle. He has a lot to say for someone who has won no flags with two clubs, that he ran out on.
  8. It was not worst than the Mills hit. It was the exact same thing. Same action, of leaving the ground and turning your body to hit an opponent. Both actions were poor and unnecessary, and just as everyone here condemned Mills for his actions (myself included!), we should be doing the same for AJ. Mills made a split second poor decision and so did AJ. I don’t think either players were like “I’m gonna try and concuss this guy”, but both went too hard and too high. They both deserve 2 weeks, and are lucky their opponents weren’t concussed or they’d face 3+ weeks on the sidelines. I love the aggression and fearlessness that AJ brings to the contest, but this particular action is exactly what we want to stamp out of the game. He was always getting suspended for that, and if a Saints player did the same thing to one of our players, we would expect they got punished. We can’t sugarcoat a poor action because a Melbourne player did it.
  9. I agree, but also why waste the money on a challenge? AJ isn’t exactly setting the world on fire. What he did was stupid, and could have easily concussed someone. Given what Viney is facing and what we went thru with Gus, I have no issues letting him cop a 2 week ban.
  10. Which we would never ever get against the Saints outside of a final. And given we only ever play smaller or interstate clubs at Alice, this remains to be true in every scenario. So you can only blame the club for so much. If we could get a consistently good turnout to games and strong membership numbers, regardless of ladder position, we wouldn’t need to sell games.
  11. If we only win this week and don’t win again until round 23, I would walk away from 2025 happy
  12. Bloody hell he’s one player we really need to play against the Pies. Ffs
  13. It wasn’t. But Mills is Mills, and AJ has played 5 games for 2 suspensions. Connect the dots.
  14. As expected. He didn’t need to do that at all. You leave the ground and turn your body and collect a player high, and you’re in trouble. Stupid from a guy fighting for his AFL life. JVR to replace him
  15. Where did you hear about Melksham?
  16. It would be so lovely to find ourselves in a financial position where we no longer need the $1mil pay check that comes with this game. But when we are 20k down in memberships, that seems far fetched. We want a home base that will cost millions, but we don't want to sell games that make us more money than any home game does (except for perhaps KB). There is no easy way to say this, but the ground is not the problem, the playing group is. We would have lost at the MCG yesterday kicking 7.21 as well, and we would have made peanuts with a crowd of maybe 35k.
  17. Finally, a sentiment we can all get behind; removing Collingwood supporters from our life by any means necessary.
  18. If you think that what he did in round 23 2024 was worthy of a 3 game suspension, then you are the problem. Yes he needs to control his aggression, but he’s an amazing footballer who makes us a significantly better team.
  19. But I already wrote him a harshly worded email with ALL CAPS and demanded we learn to kick. Night wasted.
  20. Agreed, and we never will be able to judge him properly without giving him a proper run in the seniors. How many people here wanted Chin gone because he was always a sub and struggled to get into the game?! Bedford exactly the same. Both are very good players now. Being the perennial sub is the hardest job in football if you’re trying to cement a role. I don’t personally think Laurie will make it, but likewise how would I know from the 15 minutes I’ve seen him play in 24 months? If you continue to play him as the sub then you’re setting him up to fail.
  21. Responding by suggesting we offload him. Because he kicked poorly, after kicking five goals last week and winning us the game. He also won us the game against Freo. He’s won us 2 out of 5 games this year off his own boot. We are crying out for speed and ball use and talent like his. But by all means let’s trade him off because he, like every other Melbourne player, missed gettable shots. I think Lindsay should be traded too. 0.5 this year. A wasted draft pick.
  22. Ah Demonland, the place you come after a loss to discuss trading Kosi
  23. To be fair I’ve seen lots of players for Melbourne under zero pressure not hit a target… He is a gun
