  1. You must have forgotten what Roos inherited. We were North / West Coast level bad. How is Clarkson going at North? We played finals 1 year after he left, which was something we hadn't done in over a decade prior. He changed the trajectory of this club, and set the foundations for Goody. When he took over, did you think we'd win a flag in your lifetime? I sure as hell didn't. We are in a completely different place now with our list, but I still believe that what we need most is a cultural/ attitude/ mental reset. More than we need a new game plan or a list overhaul.
  2. Success fixes a lot of problems, most especially commercial ones. So number one priority is to get a coach that will bring us success. That doesn't mean flags every year, it means being competitive, and in the race every year. Think Geelong. Of course what will it take to make us a consistently successful, and therefore commercially viable and relevant team, is the million dollar question. Do we need a mental reset, a game plan reset, a list reset, all three? And who of the candidates is the best placed to bring about all those changes in the least amount of time? IMHO Buckley is most likely to command respect and therefore implement a mental reset quickly, and probably also draw players/coaches from other clubs to come to the club. That is a massive factor and cannot be underestimated. Do I think Buckley is most likely to get a really good game plan going? No. But maybe that's less important than the other factors. At the end of the day sacking a coach, and appointing a coach is risky business. There is never any guarantees in life, but unlike the last handful of coaches appointed by the club, we find ourselves in a far healthier position with our list, and so this makes the appointment maybe more important in terms of getting the right person for the now. I still think that this competition is as wide open as it has ever been, and small tweaks can go a long way towards success when you have the bulk of your list spots covered with quality. We also have a good mix of experience and youth. A new coach can very well do a McRae. Doesn't mean they will of course, but it's not that far fetched.
  3. To be clear I am not against booing. I totally support Crows fans booing Houston for example. I just can't stand booing for the sake of booing, or worse booing for the wrong reasons. Like the hate Goodes received was appalling to me. And last night booing the victim of a homophobic slur by their own player was putrid. BTW he wasn't the one who reported it, officials overheard the players talk about it post game. So why the booing? Adelaide didn't even do the right thing and self report, so screw them (except Nibbler!).
  4. No. Finals allocation is always 50/50 per club, regardless of who the home team is. If the allocation for one team doesn't get filled, then they open it up to opposition fans, and then general admission. The grand final is the same, the allocation for members is much smaller than in other finals because #AFLsucks, but each team gets the same allocation %.
  5. Yes and our reasons make sense, and their reasons point to them being backwards inbred losers. Nobody is saying that there's anything you can do to stop them. Doesn't mean that booing a victim is not a disgusting thing to do. I hate Collingwood as much as the next person, but neither Quaynor nor Collingwood do anything wrong in this instance.
  6. We boo Maynard because he physically assaulted and ended the career of a much loved player who still suffers the physical consequences of that injury Booing IQ is the equivalent of Pies booing Gus for getting injured I’m not sure how you can compare the two
  7. As is my tradition when Pies wins finals I’m leaving the state. Sadly not on a permanent basis.
  8. Experience really matters in finals. It’s why I don’t buy this idea that guys like May or Melksham can’t be meaningful contributors if we play finals next year. Adelaide’s best two players tonight Walker and Nibbler have finals experience. And it shows.
  9. Crows with zero composure
  10. She said he should wait for the Northern Territory team
  11. Pies +7 clearances +10 contested possessions +9 tackles That’s the game
  12. Proof once and for all that in finals pressure and contest is key. Adelaide has gone to water. You need guys like Clarry and Viney in and under winning the hot contested ball.
  13. Embarrassing work from Adelaide
  14. Adelaide [censored] the bed Maybe their fans should focus more on their players and less on booing a player who was the victim of a homophobic slur by their own Inbred behavior
  15. Josh > Nick
  16. Maybe don’t leave Sidebottom alone. He’s a handy player.
  17. Mason Cox is an embarrassing footballer
  18. Houston lol
  19. Adelaide need to calm down they’re panicking and their lack of experience is showing
  20. The combined IQ of the crowd is running into the negatives
  21. I don’t want to keep going around in circles, but there’s a reason we didn’t make Peatling’s short list and it’s not because we didn’t offer him excellent money and a long term contract. You can go back to this thread and read some of the comments about how into him we were from some well respected posters https://demonland.com/forums/topic/58889-james-peatling/page/2/#comments And you absolutely did condemn Trac’s behavior. A two second search shows you saying that you agree with Lewis about how poor it is for Trac to air his grievances in public.
  22. How do you know we didn’t throw a lot of that capital and money at a key forward first and failed? How do you know that Gawn didn’t do a mountain of work to try and convince a quality tall forward to come across to us before we even spoke with Grundy? Surprise, sometimes best laid plans fail. Nobody ever denied Gawn has a big ego or that he has a lot of sway within the club. The suggestion that he’s damaging the club, or stopping us succeeding, or scaring away players because of that is utter garbage. We played Schache as a useless sub in a final because Grundy was already renting houses in Sydney while we were trying to win a flag. Perhaps some blame can fall on Grundy? Or maybe on the coaches who thought those two could magically turn into forwards?
  23. Sorry I wasn’t clear enough. I thought the context of the post made it clear that player managers refused to talk to Tim Lamb about their clients coming to the club. I wasn’t trying to be deliberately confusing. And I told you if you want to have further discussions about this in private I’m happy to. I don’t air dirty laundry on this very public forum. I like Andy too much to do that to him, and I love the club too much to have grubs like Morris run with it (and yes many journalists read this forum). I’m also not someone to name drop or leave crumbs and then say nothing else. I feel like plenty of well informed posters have said the same as me multiple times over the past 12 months. There’s a lot of weight to this discussion. And I already told you about Peatling. We were very heavily into him. Offered him a very good deal. We also spoke with a number of potential suitors to see if we could make a deal with Trac work in our favour and none had interest in coming across. McKay (Harry) is one name I know of. Our reputation in the industry is poor. That is absolutely not all on Trac, it’s also on Clarry and Smith and our fall down the ladder, and our court room battles and our boardroom instability. But Trac poured gasoline on an open flame. I think you’re foolish to think otherwise. And if memory serves me right you were very strong on condemning his behavior last year. When many denied the noise, you were one who from the beginning said where’s there’s smoke there’s fire. And you were correct.
  24. I think you’re being deliberately daft. You know exactly what I meant by player managers didn’t want to speak to us. Of course they spoke with us in relation to their clients currently employed by the club, but it was radio silence when it came to their other clients that we were pursuing. And just because the media didn’t report it, doesn’t mean it’s not true. No player manager is coming out publicly and saying that they don’t want to deal with certain clubs. Now that would be unprofessional. As @JJJ noted above, Tim Lamb brought a knife to a gun fight because of the situation the club found itself in, where a Norm Smith medallist and highly paid senior player was complaining about the club very publicly. Even his own management was telling him to stop because they saw the damage it was doing. Trac is not the first nor last excellent player who found themselves at a club that is underperforming. He had every right to feel aggrieved, and he had every right to express those feelings. He just needed to do it privately, the same way other senior players did.
