  1. Geelong clearly the better team. I really donโ€™t want to play them again.
  2. Iโ€™m not drunk enough for this game.
  3. To be fair they are both revolting clubs.
  4. I do wonder how much of this is a popularity contest? Bont is a nice guy on the field, so other players vote for him. Wines and Oliver are competitive beasts. Probably not out there making friends.
  5. No state in Australia will have Victorians at the moment without an exemption, and no state is giving our exemptions for desperate footy fans. So unless you can swing a work or compassionate exemption, good bloody luck to you!
  6. Even if we can get a deal done (say bundle picks for lower picks trade, Weideman trade etc), I am not sure how we are going to pay him? We have so many quality players coming out of contract soon and a list full of stars and rising stars. Cerra would need to be getting paid well unders if he wants to play for us.
  7. I thought we'd struggle to make top 4. If we lose a close one next week, it would still be a very good season with a largely very young list that is on the rise. If we get smashed like that last PF we played in, then I would be worried. But there is a lot of long term excitement with our current list. We are not at the end of the road like Geelong, or to a lesser extent Port and Brisbane. Having said all that, we have been blessed with an amazing injury run and a pretty even competition where there isn't a very strong and obvious stand out. This may never happen again. Our golden opportunity is now, and to not grab it with both hands would be really disappointing.
  8. Can we PLEASE remove all the clear misinformation in this thread regarding vaccines? If you are a Melbourne supporter and you plan on attending games next year, I suggest you get yourself vaccinated and quickly. Daniel Andrews made it pretty obvious today that no jab no footy entry. Just another reason to do the right thing and get jabbed!
  9. I got my first dose today! (I was booked in for Monday but the clinic didn't get their supply so got pushed out to today). Literally jumped on and booked the very first day it was available. Both my husband and I will be fully vaxxed come October 11th... my parents 10 days later as they got AZ.... I can't wait!
  10. It greatly reduces your risk of catching and transmitting it. Itโ€™s a no brainer to get all the players vaccinated in the off season. I for one hope all our players are pushed to get it done as soon as our season is finished. Itโ€™s also about leading the way and setting a good example for the community. Players are, rightly or wrongly, role models.
  11. You only need to look at Jones and Gawn to know that if a player is driven enough to succeed, they will. Both arenโ€™t as talented as Watts, both suffered the same horrible time at the club with some truly terrible coaches and administrators. Both went on to captain the club. One is on the verge of becoming a premiership captain. While what went on at the club for decades was unacceptable at all levels, from the board, to the administration to the coaches and the recruiters, an individual still needs to take responsibility for their own actions. Watts couldnโ€™t even cut it at Port, a successful club with lots of quality leaders. He didnโ€™t have the drive or the motivation to be a modern day footballer and thatโ€™s ok. Not everyone has that in them.
  12. 1000% on the money. If you trust in your ability to coach and you have nothing to hide, why run away from a selection process? He said they have his resume already as theyโ€™ve seen him coach. Yes theyโ€™ve seen you coach 0 flags.
  13. Iโ€™m barracking for injuries and suspensions tomorrow.
  14. Zero chance people wonโ€™t be breaking rules to watch the grand final together. My dad is unwell and Iโ€™m an only child. Tomorrow both of us will be partially vaccinated. I have a valid reason to go see him as I do actually take care of him and help him out with things. I wonโ€™t be letting him watch the grand final without me, should we make it. I assume many people will be stretching the rules to do the same and frankly, as a staunch follower of the rules for the past 213 lockdown days, I can no longer blame people. We have reached a point where people are done mentally and emotionally. Itโ€™s terrible and it will stretch our medical system, but the resources for peopleโ€™s resilience are also finite.
  15. Insanity not to mandate vaccines for players and staff. The entire league can still go into disarray if a player gets Covid.
  16. An arrogant [censored]. Seriously good on you for keeping your state, and the most isolated city in the world Covid safe. But carrying on with such arrogance and disrespect for the rest of this country as if our GST revenue doesnโ€™t keep your [censored] afloat, is despicable. He is a joke.
  17. Iโ€™m very happy for our WA based fans. The issue isnโ€™t that the grand final is being played there. Itโ€™s that unlike in other years, we canโ€™t attend even if we want to! We are being robbed a once in a lifetime opportunity. In normal circumstances you could come over to the MCG and watch us play. Thatโ€™s what really hurts. But nobody begrudges you or anyone else in WA. I just think people outside of Victoria have absolutely no idea what life has been like for us and how incredibly mentally defeated we are. So please donโ€™t judge.
  18. My neighbors are Melbourne supporters. Struck gold!
  19. Heโ€™s great to listen to. His podcast with Gawny is really fun as well.
  20. And I think theyโ€™re going to do a grand final parade which I think is nice for the players.
  21. Goes to show how little finals we've played, that I had no idea they had this award. The award makes no sense, because some teams will play 4 finals, some 3 and some 1. However if Oliver wins it, it is 100% fair and a great award!
  22. If we lose to Geelong in a prelim, it will officially be the end of me and 2021 will be declared the worst year in the history of years.
  23. This really hurts. I expected it, but my god it takes away a lot of the happiness I feel about this season. I know that it's very selfish, and of course I want us to win, even if the game is played on the moon... but all the things you dream about when you dream of your team winning a premiership after 57 years, have been taken away for us loyal supporters who have suffered long and hard to get here. 2021 is a total dumpster fire.
  24. I definitely prefer to play GWS, but Greene just made sure that won't happen. Beating Geelong 3 times in one season is going to be a big ask. On the other hand, they will be exhausted and we will be fresh. Their old legs might give out. I still hate both these teams with a passion and I hope they bash each other badly this weekend.
  25. Thank you to each and every Victorian who has done the wrong thing and ruined the grand final for us. Really, truly, thank you. And a special shout out to my mate Scotty for his vaccination stroll out program. I look forward to getting to the MCG in 2098.
