  1. The Suns winning this will be the biggest upset since Victoria had less Covid cases than the rest of the country.
  2. I’m really surprised we didn’t bring in BB but maybe the club is just not fully happy with his fitness and want to give him more time to be cherry ripe. It’s still a long season and at 12-2 I don’t think we should doubt the coaches. The time to peak isn’t now, but getting our forward structure right is still top priority before finals. I feel like BB must be really close and our forwards know it. Incentive to play out of their skins on Saturday. And hopefully kick straight! This game will be won in the middle anyway. GWS have a really genuinely strong midfield both inside and outside. If we defend them well through the middle of the ground and win the contested ball we should account for them. Their backline isn’t their strength. Super interested to see if we put Hibbo on Greene or if they put May on him. He is basically their Dusty. Shut him down and it goes a long way to nullifying their scoring power.
  3. If Vanders is sub and somehow makes it onto the ground I hope he runs thru this fat [censored].
  4. Currently maybe. Ask again in 2-3 hours and the situation will change at least 17 times by then. Nobody knows anything. SA could have an outbreak, we could have an outbreak, borders will shut, borders will open. For the sake of simplicity the AFL might decide to hub everyone in Victoria for the next 2-3 weeks and hence we play Port in Victoria. Or not. Hope that helps.
  5. To be fair, if every draft nets us an Oliver and literally nothing but trash in every other round, you would take it and run. Oliver is actually a superstar. You only get those once in a blue moon.
  6. I would agree for consistency, however Jackson plays a much more difficult role for a young player and is definitely someone who has a higher ceiling. Very few 19 year olds would be taking ruck time away from Gawn.
  7. It’s less about further cases and more whether Victoria thinks SA are a risk and closes the border.
  8. Isn’t there a deadline? Haven’t we passed it?
  9. He’s our highest goal kicker. He’s also the player who, if he comes out for Ben Brown will leave us to break even in defensive pressure. Fritsch plays as a tall. But isn’t a tall. He’s opportunistic and he’s great at finding marks on a lead. But he’s taken as many contested marks inside 50 this year as Spargo. We need to be able to take more contested marks inside 50, and to neutralize more aerial contests so we can spend more time with the ball inside our forwardline. We are a team that wants to play a forward half game, but at the moment because we lack marking power up forward we are seeing far too much reliance on our defense repelling opposition scoring. As May said post game, it’s unsustainable to keep defending the way we have been. Fritsch is the one player who I think we can replace with Brown that doesn’t change our forward set up too drastically.
  10. Looking forward to a Melbourne home crowd again after the disgrace that was the Essendon crowd.
  11. Exactly. Cry me an absolute river West Coast. You’re rolling in the bloody cash. You’ll live.
  12. It was clearly a joke. Sorry SA I’m happy you avoid a lockdown. I still think you’re a ridiculous state.
  13. Good for SA. Bad for us. Go to lockdown SA. You suck and nobody likes you anyway.
  14. I agree. Too bad the federal government wants to take no responsibility for hotel quarantine, or return travellers, for state borders, or even for something going wrong if you don't follow medical advice and take AZ if you're under 60. Too much politics between the states. As you say, this is a war. In a war, the federal government resumes all responsibilities. Yet in probably the biggest crisis faced by this country in decades, they are happy to let states run the show. They sent an intern to the meeting with Pfizer. An intern. They backed AZ because we could make it here. It was all about the dollars. Pfizer came to us with an offer to buy millions of doses last year and we turned it down. Fine, we didn't want to put all our eggs in the one basket. But what have we done since? Built not a single proper quarantine facility, not rushed approval of other highly effective and readily available vaccines like Modera and Novanex, have no shut our international borders, and oh year, have cut off financial support to businesses bleeding money thanks to this insane elimination strategy. I am a liberal voter, always have been, but am disgusting with the federal government. We got lucky in round 1, and so we got lazy. We thought we didn't need to rush to spend money on anything. It's the typical "she'll be right" attitude of Australia.
  15. Not if Tassie shuts their border to SA. My bet is that the AFL will get both SA teams into Victoria as early as today, before the borders close and we see a Victorian hub for the next 2-3 weeks. Could we be blessed for once and play Port in Victoria?! Will something finally go right for the city and the team that is Melbourne?!
  16. But the government literally told us to speak to our GP about getting vaccinated. So I can’t listen to the GP, I can’t listen to the AMA. Who do I listen to? Our politicians? My friend is well under 60 and has had two doses of the AZ. She is not risk adverse at all, but she too reads the guidelines of the AMA and wonders why our government has decided to ignore the advice given by medical professionals.
  17. AMA came out today and said listen to the medical advice and don’t get AZ if you’re under 60 or haven’t already had your first dose. My best friend who is a GP agreed. Now each to their own but I know who I rather take my medical advice from, and it’s not fat [censored] politicians under the pump for poor vaccination roll out numbers.
  18. *Goes to knock on all the wood around*
  19. Would not let me select a bay, but gave me M50 so no complaints. We are normally one bay over.
  20. Opinions and A-holes are the same. We all have them and it’s a good way to get whatever sh/t you got going on out.
  21. Nothing has changed. Those rules are meant to come into effect on July 1st which is Thursday, pending any disasters. Since we know 25,000 is going ahead anyway they’re starting to sell members tickets. Then if the allocation goes up as expected they can release more GA tickets. Makes sense.
  22. I agree re the CG game. I think that will go ahead as planned. Port is coming to Victoria this week to play Hawthorn. It’s possible that in order to avoid any issues with borders in SA suddenly shutting that they will ask them to stay here for another week to ensure our game goes ahead without any issues. As realistically if SA shuts their border to Victoria there are no states left to play in except Tassie, and I assume Port would rather get some much needed practice playing on the G than down in Tassie (and Tassie could well close their borders too).
  23. To be fair at 25,000 vs GWS I expect very few will miss out. 24980 Melbourne fans. 20 GWS fans. If as expected the limits are increased on Thursday they will release more tickets. But I applaud them for letting priority members get tickets early. It’s too annoying not being able to organize your weekend until much later in the week.
