  1. I think we use the sub as much to give the in-form VFL guys a taste and to say "you are really close", as we do for tactical reasons. While I agree that I would play a tall as a sub given we are missing Tmac and have nobody who can swing back to defend, I can also see the value in Harmes being sub, as he can play a number of different roles. He allows us to also shuffle the mids/forwards and potentially send someone down back if we need a hand there. Edit: I actually think Smith would be a great sub.
  2. All I can say is, good luck to Jackson. The grass isn’t always greener. You have no idea how good you have it at Melbourne.
  3. For the love of god, do NOT lose to these clowns. I want to bury them and make them realise what a truly mediocre side they actually are and how lucky they have been to get an easy draw and get away with so many close wins. I also want to see Howe and Ginnivin cry. Ugly cry.
  4. But of course according to Tex he was just after the money. Premiership counts Tex- 0 Lever - 1
  5. Definitely not. A massively strong brand owned by a South African company now that also owns Witchery, Mimco and a few other brands. This is a great partnership for all the MCC high brow fans of Melbourne and also for those of us who enjoy 20% off… If you don’t own their towels you’re missing out 😂
  6. You should receive an automatic ban if you post anything nice about Geelong. Seriously, it is not OK to like, support or heap praise on that club.
  7. Seriously doubt we would get the figures people are talking about. If we get 70k it would be impressive. I will be there!
  8. Max Gawn is the best captain in the AFL. Modern leadership is about a lot more than just performance. Gawn has the empathy and ability to connect with all types of people, which makes him the perfect leader. He has a unique ability to relate to and inspire everyone, from 18 year old rookies to 30 year old veterans. Viney is a great player and someone you would love to run out with every week. He would die for his teammates and he never leaves anything out on the field. But his personality would not be everyone's cup of tea, and that is absolutely fine. He is a hard man to please, and it makes him a great player and good leader, but for mine he is not the sort of captain you want in 2022. I think Lever is our next captain. Incredibly well spoken, well loved by his teammates, great footy brain, and has that same fatherly type figure about him.
  9. Anderson is a very good player but he isn’t consistent like Touk Miller. Touk Miller delivers week in week out. Just like Oliver. He is consistently very good.
  10. I literally said he’s had an outstanding year and is a gun player. Can come to Melbourne anytime.
  11. Sure, but Touk has no competition within his own team. Quite often standout players in middle of the road sides win Brownlows. It would help enormously that GC have received a lot less thumpings this year than previous years, and no doubt Touk has had an outstanding year and is a gun player. No doubt Dew is gonna help him along too. For me Oliver winning the Coaches Award last year in a premiership winning season was an outstanding achievement. To finish top 3 again this year, which I suspect he will, just backs up what a remarkably consistent player he is at the top level. I think his last two weeks have been well down due to his injury, and not because he has been successfully tagged. It's very hard to tag someone who is so skilled at winning contested footy. Also if he played for Geelong, he would get 10 free kicks a game. Alas he just gets dragged, held and hit behind play instead.
  12. Touk Miller has no competition. Oliver is literally competing with his own teammate who is just 3 points behind him. It's why he is unlikely to win a Brownlow. He plays in a midfield that is just too strong. Has to start kicking goals if he's to win it one day I think, or hope Trac and Viney have shocking seasons... which he never would want!
  13. Playing under Gawn is the best apprenticeship any young ruckman can hope for and the softest introduction to AFL. The grass is definitely far less green when you’re expected to be a star recruit at 21 and your only support is another young ruckman who is trying to make a name for themselves. It’s not going to be easy for Jackson to try and take time in the ruck from Darcy. Can’t see him being as generous as Max was in a grand final.
  14. Just don’t tell the majority of Demonland posters who banged on for 2 seasons what a horrible result it was for us. We basically got two gun key defenders which made up a third of our premiership defense, for pick 10. A bargain.
  15. Add to that some of the best father sons combos to come out of the AFL.
  16. Absolutely not. Sadly for Dunstan he is a one trick pony. Harmes can play a few roles and also tag. He gives us far greater flexibility. Dunstan was always going to struggle for consistent AFL game time coming to us. He really only replaces Viney or Oliver.
  17. Yep. A percentage booster against North could see them overtake us. They are a game behind however, so win all 3 and we cannot be overtaken. Lose one and it comes down to percentage.
  18. Completely unique ground. Only they know how to play it. They play many Victorian sides there too. I never said they didn’t deserve a home ground. I just said they have the best home ground advantage of any side in the competition. And the AFL is correct. You cannot host finals in a stadium that holds such a small capacity. They don’t host finals in Marvel either.
  19. They stay competitive by being given 10 wins a year at Geelong. End of story.
  20. I think Melksham should take Saad when we play Carlton and Moore next week. ANB could play on Daicos. He has the endurance to go with him.
  21. Dogs set themselves up to beat us. It was their final. They needed to get it done and they did. Shame for them that they won’t even make finals… 😂
  22. All I want out of the Dogs - Geelong game is for someone to kick Selwood’s hand and break it. Oh and for Geelong to lose.
  23. You mean we shouldn’t drop him for being selfish, despite being the only forward in our team who actually kicks goals consistently? I’m shook.
  24. And I reckon the two loses include the one where May came off concussed against the Pies.
  25. Yep. Unlike the Pies, Swans are a genuine contender.
