I will continue to favour BB over Tmac because he is harder to defend aerially, but Tmac does give us more flexibility. If you want a less athletic tall forward, then Gawn at FF is it. At least he won’t ever get out marked.

McDonald dropped? Must mean Petty is going forward again. I guess no Lynch for the Tigers and Lever back is allowing us to do that. My guess is also that Gawn will play most of the game at FF. Lowers the risk with the knee injury and gives us a proper focal point up forward.

Freo has consistently failed to develop players. It’s not unreasonable to suggest that Jackson won’t reach his ceiling while playing for them. He certainly isn’t learning from any good KPF down there and he’s getting minimal ruck time because Darcy is a very good player.

Brother or not, Andrew Brayshaw is an excellent player. I’d be very happy to welcome him into our midfield. Good age profile too. Same goes for Sarong. Just have a feeling that the trading relationship between Freo and Melbourne isn’t a good one. So doubt it’ll happen.

Of course not. They are responsible for the development and success of said 20 year old player. Which includes assessing the club’s management and culture. Remember when nobody wanted to play for Melbourne? It wasn’t because we didn’t have money to throw around.

I don’t think that’s true. Good managers also care about their players welfare and I don’t think Jackson getting Bronx cheered by an entire stadium and being plastered all over the WA papers for poor performances is great for the mental health. Nor is moving to a club like Freo going to do anything for his development as a player. Or his chances of seeing success.

A smart player with good management looks at that and thinks “this is bad culture and bad management”. A selfish player who is only focused on himself and the money sees no issues with a club pushing retirement on a 300 game champion, and trading 4 important players just to fit him into the salary cap.

I mean I’m not posting those tweets. The internet is brutal. But when you’re earning more money than a 6 time AA ruckman you leave yourself open to criticism. I think footballers being criticized for their football is fair game. Being criticized for anything else, is absolutely off the table.

He would have made very good money in Melbourne too. It is not like he was facing a life of poverty. Ultimately the choice was his. Nobody put a gun to his head. But of course as with most big trade deals, the players make out like bandits and the clubs suffer the consequences for a long time to come. Couldn’t be happier for Peter Bell.

Not only that but he stopped trying half way through the season for Melbourne when Gawn was badly struggling with injuries and we could have used him. This bloke won a [censored] RS and a flag because he was lucky enough to be drafted by us. Then turned around and spat back in our faces when we had the audacity to offer him a big lucrative deal. Would probably be in and out of the SANFL making $200k a year if Freo drafted him in 2019. Can get absolutely stuffed. Do not feel sorry for him. He has his mum and his cash. He got what he wanted and he also got what he deserved.

Of course it’s not his fault. One player is never the reason for a side being terrible. But it is his fault he chased money he didn’t deserve and Freo had to dump 5 of their starting 22 players to make it happen. It definitely explains part of why they look so awful. They went and got a player they didn’t need, to play a role that doesn’t suit him, and gave away their whole salary cap and draft haul to make it happen. Absolute stupidity. I would be furious if Melbourne traded 5 players to bring in a ruckman… and then forced him to be a forward… and then had 0 draft capital heading into a strong draft.

I have a sick sense of satisfaction knowing that Jackson has to play for this rabble 😂
