Farewell Brodie Grundy
Because of his decorated coaching career? His successor took the same list from bottom 4 to top 4 in a single season.

Tassie game vs North Melbourne
Does Clarkson coming back magically makes them a top 4 quality side? FFS if we canโt beat a bottom 2 team, we canโt win the flag either.

Farewell James Jordon
Itโs not laughable. The reason weโve been able to manage our TPP without losing a single one of our stars, is because weโre giving younger players longer deals on lower money. Spargo is not a risk at his age. Even as depth, heโs very good. The fact that we still have money to chase players every year, for example Grundy, speaks volumes about how well we are managing our cap.

Knowing our luck theyโd say we breached the rules and take the flag off us ๐

Farewell James Jordon
The only way he stays in as a permanent fixture is as an inside mid. The only way that happens is if we are committed for Trac to play predominantly forward in the years to come. This could well happen when Clarry finally comes back from his full hamstring amputation.

2023 Injury List
He said pre game on Friday that heโs hoping to get a game or two in before finals. That would be absolutely fantastic. We canโt win the flag without himโฆ or Clarry.

There is a reason he isnโt playing inside anymore, even tho Dogs lost Dunkley. Last year when he was playing as an inside mid, he only averaged 3.7 clearances and 8.6 contested possessions, going at 54% efficiency Oliverโs stats were higher than that in his first season of football. As I said in a previous post, if he didnโt cost much then of course youโd look at him, and he will probably be a star at Geelong. But he isnโt worth the picks or financial outlay he would require, because he doesnโt fill an obvious gap. I would rather Taylor use our picks to unearth another really classy midfielder via the draft.

Judd McVee and the Rising Star Award
Gus doesnโt have the leg speed to play on the same players Hibbo does. If anything youโd give that role to Rivers. I am thinking of opponents like Rachele (I know heโs suspended) or Fogarty as an example. Theyโll both outmuscle McVee and be too quick for Gus. Hibbo would be a great match up for either as he has the body strength and the pace to play on them. McVee is more like Jetta IMO. He takes the role on that really nimble quick small, like Cameron or this week probably Rankine. Where Hibbo is really unique is that he can play โtallโ but he has the speed of a small. He isnโt as easily replaceable as I think a lot of supporters think. It says a lot that at 34 theyโre priming him for finals. If I think about our list, Smith is probably the player who is most โlike for likeโ, while not being anywhere as consistent.

Come on now, are you comparing the disposal efficiency of inside mids to an outside runner? Clarry and Trac basically average twice as many contested possessions as Smith. And I know you are not comparing these two champion footballers to him. I know you are not! I canโt even talk about how wrong this comparison is. The guy is struggling to get a game over Oscar Baker. Compare him to Ed Langdon who has a 73% disposal efficiency or Hunter at 66.7% Edit: and for [censored] and giggles, ANB has a better disposal efficiency too at 64.5% ๐

Please name them, Iโm genuinely interested He is a wasteful accumulator. Doesnโt mean he wonโt go to Geelong and be a star, but he isnโt a player who we need or who will make us significantly better. Whereas Geelong are old AF and need to inject speed and youth into their dying midfield. For a packet of chips and $200k sure, but he will cost a bucketload. Money and picks we can spend better elsewhere.

What They Are Saying at Westlakes
Sloane has given his heart and soul to that club and has had some big personal off field tragedies to overcome at the same time. To think his own supporters can talk about him like heโs yesterdayโs trash is pathetic. Then again, they donโt build them smart over in SA.

The Run Home
You are probably right. They will also need a lot to go right with their aging list. If they can't get Guthry back to full fitness by September, they are cactus anyway.

The Run Home
My biggest concern in all this is Geelong. I don't want them coming in hot. Even if they don't over take us inside the top 4, if they go on a run like they did last year, it could end as badly as last year did. I want the Lions to smash them this weekend and destroy their faux confidence.
