  1. As disappointed I am for us, I have to respect Liam for his decision to put his family first. He has thrown his footy career and all the wealth and prestige that came with that onto thin ice with this decision. He may not get picked up by an Adelaide club and ever play AFL again. Kudos
  2. Girlfriend and he needed to be in Adelaide and bridges were being burnt.
  3. Would have been nice if the MFC had announced it first, or at least appeared to be aware of it...
  4. Great, we can spend the next 6 months getting excited about pick 54 that we get for trading him to Port.
  5. Our cupboards are so bare. Liam was one of a few special players we have at Melbourne. "Sigh"
  6. So disappointing. This year. So over it.
  7. Sorry if someone has already said this (i just skimmed the last 5 pages of Stuie Vs WYL etc...) Brock McLean's slump and recent form turn around may be the path Brent needs to walk (or is in fact already walking). If indeed the game has changed to their (Brock and Brent's) disadvantage and they have to adapt, has Brock successfully changed his game, etc..? Can't stand watching the Blues so I couldn't say for certain...
  8. Our Jack is yet to have "a career defining moment" for the better.A No# 1 draft pick four years in, should have at least given us a purple patch, a couple of highlights... and the longer we wait the more we doubt him. I hope the real Jack Watts shows up in 2013. http://youtu.be/HUm15jxuMvM
  9. Imagine Neeld and the FD have been asked to bake a premiership cake. They arrive and look in the pantry, some good fresh ingredients, some old, some low quality ingredients, some high quality. They test out the ingredients, cakes are not up to standard, certainly not premiership cake standard. So they work out what they can disgard or sell and what they need to buy or draft. They then repeat and resume the cake testing in 2013. Neeld is one horrible year into this process, his first shopping trip (last year) delivered Clark, arguably our best player prior to injury, so he knows his ingredients. His cake baking plan is based on cooking a "premiership cake" so he's not cooked us up some sweet boston buns while we wait for a premiership cake, he's tried to make a premiership cake, and with the ingredients he has these cakes have sucked. Neeld has a full wallet and a handfull of draft coupons and he's about to go shopping again... If he pulls our list, game plan and culture into shape over the next two years, he earns the right to have a tilt at baking the premiership cake.
  10. Already renewed. I'm totally over this season, but given the headwinds of the last two years I cannot imagine next year could get worse. In fact it can only get better. The wheel turns and we shall rise, it's just that the low part of this cycle is deeper and slower than any of us expected. Hopefully our rise will be of equal strength. Go Dees
  11. That game must have been great to be at William, I remember listening to it on the radio, in a car, outside my in-laws place in Sydney. And I really wanted to be out West watching that game. Thanks for the preview. Carn the Dees.
  12. No relation to TPP and salary cap. Unfortunately.
  13. I like what MN said about the upcoming period, that we would look at all options and leave no stone unturned. As the Clark deal taught us last year a deal is not "done" until it's signed, and there will be alot of speculation before that happens. The new FD has some cred with the Clark acquisition, so I'll trust they know what to do.
  14. The fact that Magner and Sellar were recruited was, in part, because both demonstrated the opposite of this culture, as in hunger, humility and a commitment to do the work required to prepare for the AFL.
  15. Had an amusing thought that Mick might blink in the face of family pressure and knock back the Blue's offer. Long shot I know, but where would that leave the Blues if MM and Roos both decline the "privilege" of coaching the Blues"? Choco Williams? An assistant? Up shlt creek!!!
  16. Hey Hazy why don't you respond to a factual comparison with other football clubs, instead of your infantile school report card? Again ... Whats say you good sir?
  17. One way to assess Cam would be to look at the results relative to North Melb, Geelong, and Port...
  18. I thought I would have a look at North Melb, Port Adelaide and Geelong to see how Cam has performed...
  19. Yawn. Life is too short. Well done Cam and well done MFC. Go Dees.
  20. Todd was brought in because he's a trusted former teammate of our president (at the time), who was involved in the Hawks 2008 premiership side, before moving to Adelaide crows... Cam schwab has played an important role in getting the MFC back into a position to climb the ladder. His achievements include: Eradicating debt, profits, increased revenue, increase membership. He achieved these this despite the following headwinds/distractions: Woeful on-field performance: During his tenure we have finished (16th, 16th, 12th, 13th, 16th). the MFC is a football club yet he's raised membership numbers despite the performance of the team. Also, this record to my mind justifies his "meddling in the FD". Global Financial crisis: Financial markets meltdown, recession in most economies, etc... Yet Cam increases our revenue and finds sponsors year in year out. Present dying of Cancer: With Jimmy ill for a couple of years, Cam stepped up his efforts (and maybe overstepped the mark) but he was out their flying the MFC flag and trying to allow Jimmy to recuperate (as was Don and much of the board). No one is perfect, but smart people learn from their mistakes. Cam is a smart man and a very good football administrator. Hopefully in three years he'll have proven himself to be a great one.
  21. Our Mitch Clark has been better than Cloke this year anyway, so who needs him. See comparison.
  22. We'd lose by 100+ against a team that would only score 135. "Release the shackles" against a Freo team that seem to have adopted Lyons "defence first" mentality so well. Perhaps we could ask Sandilands to tap it to Jones to give us a chance to actually get the ball in space so we could "release the shackles". Our only chance of beating Freo is to "ropa dope" them to keep the score low. We don't have a forward line capable of going toe to toe with them...
