  1. If the goal is to win a Premiership the path required is more rigorous and taxing in the short term than patching up a mediocre team with a soft culture so they can reach the fringes of the 8... Neeld has cut hard and deep, with the view that this is the only way he could transform our team into premiers in his tenure (assuming an extension). That this has upset us poor long suffering fans says more about the crud we were sold from 2010 on about the inevitable rise of the young and talented Demons... than it does about Neeld's ability.
  2. Dawes' article in The Age also highlights that the MFC is now training and being prepared to the required elite level. It may take a couple of years at this level for it to become fully evident, but it appears to be going in the right direction.
  3. I'd like to see one of our mids given the role of nailing N Jones tag at every opportunity...
  4. I'd be hoping Clark and Dawes will be ready for the Carlton game.
  5. Look forward to Dawes and Hogan lining up for Casey on the weekend. Glimpse of the future!? No coincidence that this articles come out just as Dawes is able to hit the field again.
  6. I thought it was a good article and courageous of Dawes to put his name to the assertion that the MFC playing group will come good on the field. In any behaviour / performance change process having players make public statements of their intention or the intention of the group only deepens the commitment of the player to deliver. He looks (and writes) like a man who has been challenged by the manner of him leaving Collingwood, to take his game and leadership to another level at Melbourne. Looking forward to Dawes getting onto the G in Red and Blue.
  7. Given our paucity of quality experienced mids and senior players was a condition Neeld inherited and is trying to rectify (as you've acknowledged above), what more can a coach (any coach do) to "make chicken salad from chicken [censored]"? Surely Neeld (or any coach) would require time to address this issue?
  8. Watch out BH with your almost acknowledging that he's doing some things right angle, another win and you'll be back on the Neeld's Reality Bus! Toot Toot
  9. IN: Sellar, Strauss, Mckenzie, maybe Rodan.
  10. With Casey in good form, Spencer, Rodan and Strauss would seem contenders for a spot although Jamar/Gawn (Spencer), Terlich (Strauss) and Byrnes (Rodan) won't be dropped. Good to see some pressure for spots coming from Casey, will only sharpen them up. With Dawes and Dunn to come back from injury the pressure will only build. Hopefully Dunn will put some pressure on Watts to take it up a gear.
  11. Five players playing in their first win (Viney, Terlich, Pedersen, Byrnes, M Jones), great to see the recruiting strategy start to pay dividends. Reckon Shannon "Monty" Byrnes kept us in it in the first half... not that the recruiting of experienced players can be attributed to the coach in any way, but well done Mark none the less.
  12. Well done Mark Neeld and the FD for weathering the storm and persisting! I guess the Biggest score in the final term from the MFC ever (12.2) can't be attributed to the coach in any way, but well done Mark none the less. Solid win, in the end! Bring on the Lions.
  13. I could never make up better stuff than we've been dealt or dealt ourselves these past years... Sigh
  14. Our new recruiting manager punches out a kid on a trip to Europe!
  15. The team puts in a 4 quarter high quality effort and win a game of footy.
  16. If Toumpas (or Watts, etc...) are the 23rd best player in the squad in regard to the coming game then they should be the emergency. Why would we bring in the 26th best when we have a better player available? We are in the business of winning AFL games (well we should be).
  17. It will be interesting to see how Jack plays on Sunday.
  18. The level of end of the world, hair pulling over the top language being used is out of whack with where the reality bus actually is. By my pre-season reckoning I always had us down to lose Vs Essendon and West Coast. So only the Port game was an unexpected loss. That said the margins were bigger than expected, but I always expected to lose at least two of the first three games. So the arguement to sack the coach 3 games in boils down to "we lost to Port" and "the margins were bigger than expected". Flimsy justifications to turn over an entire FD that's only been there 18 months.
  19. My point is I don't know. I have never met Jack Watts, never coached him, etc... and while you may have met Jack (I don't know), are you in a better position than Neeld to question his judgement with any authority? No. So your accusations are irrational and driven by an emotional agenda...
  20. Why does Neeld stating that "Watts was left out because of the potential that he'd need to replace a tall in the event of an unforeseen injury and that the team's needs overrided the individual players needs. Ballarat was too far to get a quick replacement." mean he is a whackjob? We need emergencies in case of a late withdrawal. Are you saying he is a "whackjob" because it's Watts?
  21. There is a lot of uninformed speculation and assumption of incompetence being thrown around by people who don't have a clue what's really gone down, i.e. re Jetta, Watts, Blease... If you don't know why Watts was dropped and used as an emergency admit it. I don't know why. But to speculate that the reason was wrong instead of right has your agenda (dissing Neeld) tainting the facts (you don't know why Watts was dropped and used as an emergency). It's a bogus way of justifying and projecting your disappointment in the teams performance and making the issue bigger than to most likely is... It's also a way to big note one's self by implying you know more than you actually do.
  22. I'm not jumping off Neeld's reality bus, I think we are at ground zero and the future starts on Sunday. Heresy I know, given the total capitulation of faith across this thread. We are like a plane that has stalled and is plummeting toward the ground... I choose to believe that if we stick with Neeld, the engine will fire and we shall rise like a phoenix.
