When playing in my old band at some dodgy place in Ascot Vale, the 'crowd' had reduced to zero at one stage. While the guitarist was playing an excessively long solo, the singer wandered off (mid song) for a toilet break, and returned to the stage to participate in the completion of the song.

Adrian Gurvitz ... he did in fact write that song. To continue the demons type theme, he was in a band called The Gun who had a hit with Race With the Devil. It was covered by Girlschool, Judas Priest and no doubt others.

Has Barry Manilow been in any of those bands?

I thought it was what the actress said to the bishop. 🤔

Neil Balme - A Tale of Two men
At Least I Saw a Flag replied to Fritta and Turner's topic in Melbourne Demons
I've come across Neil quite a few times. (Won't say in what context.) What I can say is that he was very friendly, and seemed like a genuine type of person. A far cry from his on field persona!! -
Saints Sack Ratten & Appoint Lyon as Coach

Don't know Raymond Carver, but Lou Reed and Patrick White were pretty unpleasant individuals. Tree of Man the The Vivisector are great books. Voss (the book, not the footballer/coach) is a very dreary book. -
Who is this Luke Jackson person ? Hey mods ... close this thread?

2022 Player Reviews: #21 Jacob Van Rooyen
At Least I Saw a Flag replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Freo fans really rate JVR, and hope to grab him when his contract ends. -
My favourite cartoon character ... Slow Poke Rodriguez

Jamaican Farewell is brilliant.

Demons still in premiership window, which is why MFC recruited Grundy (29) and Hunter (27). A lot depends on getting the forward line working. TMac? JVR? Petty? Schache pretty speculative recruit. And perhaps some of the young players taking the next step to put pressure on senior players not consistently performing... Chandler, Laurie, Woey et al.

Saints Sack Ratten & Appoint Lyon as Coach

He was an excellent midfield coach at MFC. Perhaps he was sacked for using the expression "scoreboard nourishment"? Which would be reasonable. -
Like everyone else, I wish Oskar all the best for the rest of his footy career and beyond. Garry Buchanarra (sp) will be surprised. He assessed MFC's list, and had Oskar as a B grader.

I had a read of the Freo Bigfooty thread on Jacko. Interestingly there are lots of references to JVR, and how much they seem to rate him and hope that he similarly goes back to WA.

This.

Bedford ... the fact that he couldn't get a game in 2022 doesn't mean that that would always be the case. Poor outcome for MFC.

A friend of mine is a close relative of Heffernan. He said that Heffernan didn't want to go to Melbourne and his heart wasn't in it. (Which was pretty apparent when watching him play!!) He is back at Essendon in some capacity. -

Good ordinary player ... no more than that. Similar to Mihocek.
