3 point win to Casey!

Laurie far too good for VFL.
BBB has been inaccurate but is full of energy. Repeated leads, tackling, up and down the ground.
Looks like Fullerton may have just done his knee.

Lackluster game. Slow thinking footballers. Hunter is getting possessions but takes so long to move it. Just needs some more energy. Only player to bring in is the Kolt imv.
I'm enjoying the game, but I totally agree with your statement re "slow thinking footballers". Some bad decisions by both teams when the game is flowing, causing everything to stop or go into slow motion.

Would be great for Kolt to get another crack at the seniors next week at his home state. Hopefully he continues to play well and it’s definitely possible.
To be honest, Jaded, looking at him tonight he is a very good VFL player but I can't see it transferring to AFL quite yet. Another preseason away I reckon.

Playing all over Carlton now. Jefferson and Fullerton providing options, Tholstrup & Laurie looking OK. BBB has Vaseline on his hands - dropping everything. Not a bad game of footy.

Some deep entries and F50 system finally beginning to show.

Nothing to excite that quarter unfortunately.
Lots of handball to crowded players and a fair amount of fumbling
A near deserted forward line on a few occasions was not impressive
We are working hard across the middle, causing turnovers and spilled marks, to then have little system or efficiency kicking inside F50.

Regardless of team or result, you have to love a really young group having a red hot go. Hawks really giving it everything.

Tom Stewart had little impact - did Turner play a defensive role on him? Tom Stewart having a mediocre game is a coaching triumph in itself.

We can't change too much after such a great win. Billings is surely a definite out. So Laurie in, and Bowey into sub.

Great performance by the coaches. They went to school on Geelong and found a way to restrict their ball movement.
Absolutely agree. Not enough credit to Goody & co for that win. Although Geelong got heaps of flow on play through half back and wing, most of it hit our stone wall and rebounded back out. The use of Langdon & Windsor out wide made Geelong spread uncomfortably in defending, along with our repeated 15-20 metre kicks. Great method and coaching.
I think they subbed Laurie in too late, but apart from that, all good.

How old was he when we recruited him? 21?
Yes, I think so. Noticed doing well at Casey and drafted from there.

Wow. Gut wrenching last quarter.
Thank you Jeremy.
Max - you led us to victory.
Lever - the rock.
Petty - welcome back
Langdon - you can have a rest now.
Fritsch - how the hell you were never drafted at 18yo, I will never know. You are simply brilliant.

O kozzie...

So much good footy finished with sloppy lazy goal kicking. We are very much in and they are playing as well as they can. It's about composure under pressure and composure while exhausted now. We need someone to stand up and LEAD us to a win.

Losing momentum off our own boot now. So disappointing.

I'll say it again...
Tracc up forward for 10 or 15
Kozzy into the middle for same.
Sub Billings for Laurie
I just said this exact thing. Makes sense.

2nd half of that quarter was all about exhaustion. Our defensive spread is a thing of beauty, but after endless gut running and no stoppages neither team has any fuel left to convert.
Great to see JVR and Petty clunking marks.
ANB and Langdon - astonishing amount of running.

Sparrow has been brilliant.

Both team showing their best, lots of running and great skills. Our foot skills tonight have been outstanding. If we continue to stall them moving through the wing with an extra player loose, we win.
Umpiring is a concern. Not from a bias point of view, but over umpiring minor discrepancies, and not seeing the ball being dropped by the tackled player. Frustrating.

Cracking game of footy. Not as defensive as I thought it might be.
-
It is such a great feeling now, going to any game knowing we have a good chance of winning. The Premiership in 2021 changed everything - I am generally much more relaxed about footy in general.
I can't see the Cats attack being as potent as it has the last 7 rounds. Our defensive organisation rarely allows teams more than 80 points, often under 65.
Sparrow to run with Myers.
Petty to run with Stewart.
Kozzie, Chandler & Fritsch will be our major goal scorers.

Yep, something really stinks about this. Umpire called touched so it is touched.
