  1. It wasnt a dump - it was a festering sore on the landscape - calling it a dump was far too kind.
  2. my My argument is not a Watts argument. My argument is simply that if you damn Neeld for too little players improving then you have to credit him with anyone that has improved. The fact still remains that it is damning how few players have gone forward and how many have gone backwards or stalled.
  3. Should players improve ..really ? have you seen the statistics for those who are drafted who dont make it ? how many players are cut from the list each year, how many players are traded as deemed not good enough. Then did you conside rhow many players go backwards each year ? how many players have stalled development ? But if you want to blame Neeld for players going backwards then you have to give him equal credit for those who go forwards. What i do believe that people have a good argument is that the ledger shows that way more players have either stalled or gone backwards than forwards
  4. I think you can lay some criticism that not enough players have improved under Neeld but I think it is disengenuous to damn him for little improvement in not enough players and then suggest that players that have improved cannot be attributed to him at all. Edit - if people want to speculate that " Jones was always going to improve because he is such a hard trainer and committed to the task then by extension you can comment that Watts was never going to improve under any coach because he is lazy and not prepared to work hard enough"
  5. 75 tackles from 15 players - thats a fair amount of tackles
  6. but mainly the Freys
  7. I only have one thing to say...valar morghulis
  8. you know nuthing PJ_12345
  9. He drove through the boomgates - he meant to go around but he missed the target by 10 metres. He went through the back door favoring his boundary line approach even though the quickest way home was straight through the front door. Jack Watts was hovering around the boomgate deciding whether or not to open it or just hover about hoping the boomgate would come to him. Neeld was 96 minutes late to the meeting but was overall pleased with his effort even though he did go through the boom gate instead of around it. When quizzed about the the boomgate he quipped "with a bit more experience Ill be able to go around it and with a bit more bulk on the gate I wont be able to go through it so easily but at the moment it is what it is"
  10. I've got a secret for you - we might need a few skilled footballers as well or had thought slipped by you ? may put a wee dent in your 12 month plan.
  11. There you go - spot on. So if Neeld gets the bullet I will not be jumping up and down and saying Hallellujah we have an experienced coach ( whoever he may be) - our troubles will not be over because "the savior" will be inheriting the same the problem footballers with the same problem culture. I will give him the time to try and rectify problems that were not of his making or of Neelds making either. Problems that have been years in the making and festering.
  12. No thinks that anyone has a Magic wand ? Yup - HH - does. You will notice that I havent taken anyone else to task. I hear your arguments and dont disagree with a lot you have said. I have applauded Neeld for his approach to stamp out the soft underbelly but unfortunately not enough of the players have come along for the ride.. I was under no illusion that it would not be a quick fix but I understand those calling for Neeld's head because whilst we were expecting a grind I am not sure anyone was expecting the shameful football we are delivering now. However to suggest that anyone who doesnt think an experienced coach like Roos or Williams would get us wins is a moron is a moronic statement in itself. It is the great unknown and we have shown over the years that messiah's come and go but only hard work from all involved ( most importantly the players) will get us success. I also prefer your approach that "Neeld is not the answer". I can respect that as you are judging him on whether he is right or wrong for us going forward. Anyone who suggests that another experienced coach would get us wins here and now is delusional ( and moronic - I am waiting for the experienced Sheedy to get GWS wins)
  13. you mean like Sheedy...hows he going ? how did Pagan go at Carlton. How did unproven coaches Scott got at Geelong and Longmire at the Swans ? I am not saying for a minute that Neeld should stay and nor am I advocating an untested coach as a replacement. What I am preaching against is a "magic wand". We have a lot of very average footballers running around and no amount of messiah's are going to turn that around in a hurry and to quote - "anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron"
  14. Gotta love a hypothetical....this "moron theory" of yours can only be proven through action but I have already lived through the promises of Bailey and the promises of Neeld - new dawns and next year will be better. I am a 100% wait and see what happens because anyone who professes that we will be better purely based on sacking a coach and unsubstantiated promises of a better tomorrow and what could be is a moron. .
  15. His kicking and decision making can be poor but you always know you are going to get 100% from J Mac.
  16. for two seasons albeit where he was very average and went home anyway.... Seriously, you can lay many many problems at the feet of Neeld but you are out of line with Jurrah and Wona....
  17. I would assume that "they" being the club would be sounding out who is and who isnt available. As to the players being sounded out by Roos ??? Can you understand what you are saying - we have a senior coach who is in place and yet you would accept senior players talking to another coach about the prospect of him coaching the club ?? Players are put into a leadership roles because of their supposed integrity and values. Exactly what does it say about the players but more importantly I cannot for a minute suggest that Roos would want "future" players talking to him about a new role whilst Neeld was still coaching and I could not imagine a club putting players in that position. It is a completely different story if the coach is fired tomorrow, there is a caretaker in place and a perspective new coach wants to hear from the leadership core but not whilst a contracted coach is still in place.
  18. 1/ I could not imagine Roos asking to speak to players as an experienced ex coach - given how he would have viewed that same situation as the Swans coach 2/ I could not imagine the MFC allowing it - would blow up in our faces big time. If desperate times call for desperate measures then fire the poor bastard but to even give a seconds credence to this sort of disrespect is disgraceful ( and quite frankly not to be believed). We talk about culture and sure we will go behind our coaches back and talk to perspective alternatives but to think that our club would allow a perspective new coach to talk to players whilst Neeld is still is in place... just wow
  19. Bottom line is that there is enough to yell about to upset players like " get a kick, get a hard ball, dropped your head again, chase you pea heart" without having to get offensive ( let alone racial abuse) - I equated what that girl said to calling someone fat or ugly and I also dont think she understood the connotation but I dont think any abuse of that nature is necessary. As an aside - I went to a Melbourne/Carlton game in the early 90's after returning from 3 years o/s and every time Dorotitch went near the ball they called him a "[censored]" which i thought was harsh until my mate explained to me that he was actually caught ummm...well.... anyway that epiteth was well earned.
  20. Not to mention disrespectful. I have no problem with clubs doing the sounding out and even negotiating for new staff/coaches behind the scenes - that is accepted practice - but to allow them to talk to players ...ummm no.
  21. It is Roos ego that may get him to take the job - it is his love of his reputation that may overcome his ego that may well dictate whether or not he comes. I love Leigh Matthews but he doesnt have the ego that Roos which is why he wouldnt take the job.
  22. I am sure the post is all rhetorical but in case it isnt. the responses are - WTF,react with the scepticism and derision it rightly deserves. Agreed, No and no. That about covers it
  23. You answered your own statements there. Our possessions are so down because we cant string any chains together because of our deplorable skills - we hand the ball back way too quickly.
  24. I find it difficult to believe and even more so that someone like Roos would talk to players with an existing coach in place. Stranger things have happened but not much stranger IMO
  25. I actually think it is a slap for "pre Neeld" as Neeld found exactly the same thing when he arrived. I also think the Cale is 100% right about the leaders and top end players of a club leading by example - you look at the likes of Cox, Galss, Kerr etc that their youth can flourish under compared to our ummmm...errr......hmmmm
