Melbourne midfield ranked worst in AFL by Champion Data
Pink Freud replied to SaberFang's topic in Melbourne Demons
Perhaps you might have heard the one about statistics and damn lies. Well this is one about using past performance and applying it to the present and the future. It simply doesn't take into account that some of the midfields with older players are bound to decline while the younger midfields have the capacity to overtake them with rapid improvement. There's nothing wrong with the Champion Data people. Pollsters are getting it wrong all of the time. Look at the recent US elections. -
So how does this work?

Eleven Pies players test positive to illicit substances
Pink Freud replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Apparently the hair tests won't be used to establish strikes against players under the 2/3 strikes rule. -
Leaving aside Callan Ward, they lose two of their best players from that side. • Treloar - thanks to Collingwood • Cameron - thanks to the Tribunal Two very significant outs.

My profession is grateful to all those who contribute to this thread. It's saved us a great deal of time and expense in our research efforts.

10.00am and there should be more during the week.

Worth going for the presentation of the players at the end and also to find out some more on the injured players like Angus Brayshaw.

I might be going early with this call but I think we won the Ben Kennedy - Jeremy Howe trade by a long margin.

Just listening in to SEN when a caller by the name of Chris from Camberwell rang with three points to make:- 1. Melbourne needs a key forward and should go after McCarthy from GWS by offering its first round pick. 2. Melbourne should be claiming Darcy Parish as father/son because his father Les Parish played more than 100 games for us. 3. Melbourne should claim Andy Lovell's son under the father/son rule as he's a gun. I don't have a problem with the first point although McCarthy wants to go back home to WA to play for Freo. On the second, Darcy isn't Les' son and in any event, Les only played 7 games for us so he's not eligible to go father/son. On the third, Kieren Lovell who is the player referred to, isn't Andy's son either. I did however, love the bloke's passion, even if he is a bit misguided. Anyone know him?

Beats listening to Meatloaf's attempts at singing.

It's also evidence that he's a liability if he can only produce such a game once in a season. Trade while he still has some currency.

The possibility still exists in this AFL landscape. This time 12 months ago, who would have thought that a recent # 1 draft pick like Tom Boyd could be traded? Who would have considered it even a remote possibility that the MFC would be shopping Trenners around? If it suits Gold Coast to trade Prestia to another club now instead of next year when they have no contractual hold over him, they might do it.
-
One wonders if the AFL would deign to investigate the possibility?

If that was true then how do you explain the significant improvement in the team's performances in 2010 and the early part of 2011 when they won several big games including the slaughter of the Swans by a record margin for them under Paul Roos? The thing that broke their spirit was the internal battle within the club between those who were for and against the Bailey style of coaching which failed against teams that applied the hard forward press like the Hawks and the Eagles who murdered us in 2011. Of course it had nothing whatsoever to do with the extra coin that Carlton was prepared to offer to Brock after we refused to give him a pay increase? After all, Carlton had no recent history of tanking at the time, did it?

We're still a few weeks off the official trade and free agency period. Patience is required.

Port want to find a way to get Charlie Dixon over from the Gold Coast Suns. If that means a high draft pick or a trade of a player to another club, they will get it done if it's the right deal.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 5
Pink Freud replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
On the other hand there were periods during the game when we stood up quite well to them and but for some poor kicking for goal, could have had them. They didn't have Fyfe that night. I wonder who takes him on? -

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Pink Freud replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
You missed this one WJ. Parish is already top of the tree and barring injury, likely to be up there in November. Click go the shears: Draft prospect Parish a true son of the soil -
There has been speculation that Hird only agreed to the August 2013 sanctions conditional on getting an extended contract. Chances are this extended contract has plenty of terms favourable to Hird and he has Essendon over a barrel.
