Is it possible we've already signed Sharrod Wellingham? Been good for us today.

How is it possible that Collingwood are so ordinary when they've managed to get so much value offloading players who contribute so little? (e.g. Wellingham, Dawes, Thomas)

If only we could match their strategy - first round pick for Dunn?

Bit harsh on Thomas who although I can't stand, he has been very unlucky with injury and to a lesser degree Dawes injuries haven't helped either.

Wellingham has played some good footy at times also but they shanked letting go Rhyce Shaw who played a vital role in the Swans premiership and Heath who at the end of this year will most likely be a two time b&f and two time All-Australian.

If Buckley could manage them the Pies could have had a mini dynasty similar to the cats

RE: Peaking too early - they need draft picks to build their ordinary list. Of those you mention, Weitering Docherty, Cripps, Curnow and maybe Sumner will be winners. Not convinced on SOSOS. Gibbs is 27, injury-riddled Murphy is 29, injury-riddled Kreuzer is 27 and Casboult only has one string to his bow at 26. No way they all play 5-6 years more. Gibbs might. Murphy has 2-3 max, as does Kreuzer. They need a serious injection of talent. Outside of Cripps where are their A grade mids going to come from?

RE: "I think we will pass them over the next two years easily, but they will know us off later this season" - we're already ahead of them, mate. We've had more wins. We'll leave them in our wake over the next 2-3 years. But funnily enough, I too think they'll knock us off this season too.

All fair points Adam and i didn't know Murph was that old. Thought he was only mid 20s as well for some reason.

I say 5-6 years as players with talent are playing a lot longer now with 18 teams spreading the talent thinner. I think a few of these boys might hold on - pending injury obviously. Of course, Jones and Vince for us also will do this.

I know we have won more games but I have been impressed as much with them this year knocking over Port, Cats and pushing the weagles last week.

Our list has more talent imo also but as we agree, it's a danger game Rd 22.

    cheers mate

I gotta say. I can't deny I'm a little envious and [censored] off that a coach like Bolton can bring structure and work rate from ordinary players so quickly. We clearly have more talent on our list and going forward I wouldn't want to be Carlton (they're peaking too early too), but it is frustrating to watch. That said, the caveat is certainly our inexperience meaning it's harder to implement those structures and work rate for longer, on a consistent basis.

Very much the same in the envy party. They are tracking well. Not sure about the "peaking to early" part however as I think winning breeds more winning.

Bolton definitely has them believing in themselves again. Especially players like Ed Curnow, Touhey, Armfield who Malthouse had in the scrap heap. From the few games I have watched of them this year they seem to be playing ok footy.

There leaders in Gibbs, Murph, Kreuz, Casboult all have 5-6 years left in them and there kids in Weitering, Docherty, Cripps, Sumner, Charlie Curnow and Silvagni will be players as well. Simpson plays the soft role in the spaces on the flank and will probably play till he's 40 like Burgoyne, Bob Murphy, Enright and Matt Boyd.

I think we will pass them over the next two years easily but they will knock us off later this season

  4. I despise nearly everything about the filth and enjoy seeing them lose but I just can't hate Pendles.

Just love watching him go about it, plays a different game the way he hand balls long to players running into dangerous spot.

    Other than that.... Eff em

Might as well engrave the cup now.

As much as it makes me sick I agree.

They just have to many guys who are match winners and can't be stopped. Also, to have Hodge and Burgoyne just picking off easy touches on the flanks and then go in the guts when need be just shows the ridiculous amount of talent there team has.

They aren't even playing there best footy still imo and are sitting two games clear. Pricks

When was he a rookie at EssUndone?  Pre or post or during the experimentation era?  Just wondering.

Sorry monoccular didnt see the response.  He was there prior to all the dank issues.

He is still very close mates with Hurley as well.

Have heard Jenkins has re-signed with Crows, in fact was done some time ago, just won't be announced til later in the year. Source is a mate with very strong AFC connections including a club legend.

I can promise you i have a better source and he definitely hasn't signed there.

Brisvegas are offering a wonderful deal for him which crows wont be that close but imo he will stay loyal to Adelaide. Probably just delaying it hoping a few more $$.

He should go north imo. Was a rookie at the bombers and signed for peanuts to get on a list at the crows and he needs to make some serious hay while the sun is shining and its shining brighter up north.

  8. Not a trade period but I wouldn't be against a mid season draft allowing teams to look at the second tier comps for players to fill certain roles in case of injuries etc.

Maybe increase the rookie list to allow another two players to be recruited mid year for example

  9. HFF is his spot for mine. It's where he did his damage for Sturt what feels like an eternity ago. Couple of my mates played with him there for that season.

I think we shanked his development by loading the muscle on him for an inside mid role after 09. Prior to the finals he was taking big pack marks and had decent pace over the turf. Not electric pace but never caught with the pill. All while playing on the flank I'm told.

The HFF can be a graveyard if you're not a smart player and he clearly is so for mine Id like to see him spend his preseason with a focus on speed and agility training and make this spot his own again.

I read about Pendles working for years on his speed with only slight improvements each time but still enough to be an advantage. If he can do this while still running sub 10mins for 3kms there is to much upside imo to not give him another year at least

Amazing what happens when you get the best player in the comp and give up sweet fark all in return

    #equalization

Hopefully when we are up and about we will be able to get some quality in just the same.

But my god he's been a beast this year. We would have knocked over the bombers and North and be sitting nicely at 8 and 4 at the worst if we somehow jagged him in the off season.

  11. 6. Gawn. Just everywhere every time we needed him to be. Should poll three in the charlie

    5. Vince. Ridiculous amount of the pill he won today. Turned a couple over early which cost him bog in my eyes but he still was super.

    4. Bugg. Really wasn't a fan of him as a recruit but he really has added a fair bit. Steele and Pendles were going to be the two to win it for them and after the 1st I thought they might. His next 3 quarters he destroyed Sidebottom thank god

    3. Tyson. Smooth mover, plenty of hard ball wins and his kicking has been super

    2. Kent. Easily his best game for us where he hurt a few filth back men and slotted a few through also. This is what we need from the Kent week in week out

    1. Frost. Hoges/T Mac are unlucky here but I was just so shocked with how well he went and the dash be kept providing. Very exciting seeing him play well back there

  12. I thought Kolodashnij (God knows how it's spelt) was going to take the next step this year after a really solid last season. Seems to have gone backwards big time.

There are a couple GC boys who would have to be looking to abandon ship surely. Prestia hopefully but I hope we are in the ears of say Kolodashnij, Hall and Martin. They all have that outside pace we will need

There's the small matter of booking stadiums, arranging staff for ticketing, security, catering, cleaning, etc etc. Businesses organising boxes for their favourite clients, getting in food & drink .... so many factors.

One week is impossible. Even a month would be pushing it.

No doubt Ted, would be hard yakka. Still I think it would be something that could be looked at in years to come as the game becomes even more about the almighty  $$$

Maybe the venue could be booked 4 weeks in advance and the best tenants that are highest on the ladder or what looks like will be the biggest blockbuster jags it? That way most of the staff, catering, etc is sorted??

I dunno, just thinking out loud... Via a laptop

A week to plan is long enough

this current system is a joke

As much as I agree with the idea of a floating fixture a week definitely isn't long enough.

I come down from Mildura with the better half and it is easily a few hundred $$$ more if I'm not booking well in advance for flights plus looking at accommodation.

Maybe 4 weeks in advance would be ok

  15. 25 touches and 15 tackles to Grimes is another great effort.

Not sure what else he could do to get a look in at the moment unless his touches have been horrendous (which of course is possible). Wasn't listed in the best so maybe.

I don't doubt his papers are stamped and I'm not his biggest fan however I think he deserves a couple weeks to at least show the improvement he's obviously had with better coaching/development.

  16. 6. Viney was manic all day at the pill, continually got smashed but kept fighting through.

    5. Gawn continually clunked some grabs around the ground getting us out of trouble. God help us if he goes down.

    4. Jetta. I simply loved him destroying Fasolo and his rebound is becoming first class. Continually kicks well from defence.

    3. Watts has to get in slotting four.

    2. N Jones. Bless his heart.

    1. Lumumba. Provided some fantastic run today and is finally lowering his eyes hitting targets. Got pinned a couple times also that frustrated but that's going to happen with how he plays

  17. I admit I have never been a fan and continually wondered why he was allowed to 'develop' in the ones instead of learning to play forward in the twos.

However I thought he was quite good today and did some good things with the ball as well which was unexpected. At one stage he took a ballsy kick from the back flank to the corridor which set up a goal which showed he clearly has some skill and the confidence is improving.

    well done to the kid

    Yes I would

You might expect him to play twos OD due to his brainfart last game and I agree it's challenging to change a winning squad but there is no doubt he will be back in the ones.

Imagine the uproar if he picks up 40 touches for Casey and the ones get done by a couple points.

    Is our raining b&f also.

Don't care who's out and they will be unlucky but Vince and Jeffy will be two of the first picked
