Like the look of this bloke who is obviously not afraid of hard work, high time we jagged another JMac.Seems that Arron has always had the talent, but now has the drive and work ethic to succeed. Good on him, he might just thrive in the 'new' Melbourne. Two-wheel turnaround

Thanks billy, looked on the site, must be blind.

Some low life listed the order of service booklet from Phillip Hughes' funeral on eBay before the proceedings had even finished.
Fortunately eBay had the decency to remove the listing.
Disgusting.

Great to see the players up close particularly the new lads, your work is appreciated 666.

Fox played highlights of Phil's magnificent ton against South Africa tonight, jeez I found it hard to watch.

The voting is done by the match committee I understand who no doubt place higher expectations on the more elite players, conversely a good performance by a younger guy who may not necessarily dominate may earn some 'cheap' votes. Not for me - how do you explain one B&F for Robbie ?
To me B&F voting is always looked at in a different light than actual best players.
Many on here are singing the praises of Jetta yet are expecting so much more from Howe many say had an average year - Jetta finished 9th and Howe 6th. Look at Demonland voting - Viney coming in 4th and not in the top 10 in the B&F count.

Out of interest, where do you get your updates from ?Yesterday 21,118 today 22,055!!
Post draft optimism starting to kick in!!
Club site still shows 21118.

My only interest is in Clark failing at Geelong. Why is this a thread..
Man's an opposition player now.
And one who has to climb Everest before he starts playing to the level that was with us.
Fraud.

Agree Rowdy, Jack and his family bleed red and blue, he has co captained through a very difficult time for the club which is a big ask for someone so young.Good for you Jack! Probably the most selfless player at the club, along with his former co-captain.
Now he can stop worrying about others and concentrate on his own game.
He recognises that his form has suffered as a result and the injuries Jack has suffered have compounded the problem.
Given a full pre season I'm confident he can make an impact in 2015.

Great thread for all the dooms day posters, morning Bluey, get on board boys the sky is about to fall.I, like most people on the site, am really excited about the draft just gone. So I don't mean to bring the mood down, But I'm still worried about our shared facilities, separated football department and lack of a social club. Its the weakest set up of all the clubs.
So, when I read about St Kilda possibly being govt backed to set up at the junction oval ( which was also OUR training ground for about 20 years) in a massive new facility I feel like we may be getting left behind ........again. Footscray is also now going to build a stadium out at Ballarat and play home and away games there probably from 2017 on....with the same kind of govt backing. Im wondering what are game plan or thinking is...or if we have one?

Feel for your loss mate, remember the good times.I posted about Ray's illness last year, but can't find the post. Just wanted to mention the sad passing of my lifelong demon buddy, Ray this morning, in Frankston palliative care. Ray bravely fought a brain cancer for nearly two years when he was only given three months. We used to go to watch the Dees play when we were kids, ducking off from Springy Under 12's and catching the No. 4 to Richmond. For long time supporters, that was when Phil Rhoden used to drop kick 55 yards from full back in the reserves. I was honoured to attend Ray's wedding last year, shortly after he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. Ray's family and mine are all crazy demon supporters and we spent lots of sunny (and otherwise) afternoons at the MCG screaming for our team over the years. You don't need to suffer any more, Ray, and we will all miss you and your wonderful sense of humor. You were taken before your time. Condolences to your wife, kids and extended family. BD

Brendon McCullum made this statement, earlier today:
"On behalf of the BLACKCAPS I want to make the following statement. Our focus at the moment is not on our performances, it is all about Phil. We are heartbroken for Phil's family, Greg, Virginia, Megan and Jason. No one should go through what you guys are going through right now. We are reaching out to Phil's family, Michael Clarke and the Australian boys, medical staff, fans, all who have been affected by Phil's passing. We are also reaching out to Sean Abbott. You are all in our thoughts, our hearts and in Phil's case, our memories. Cricket is a sport, but the cricket community is a family. We are here for you, we are thinking ofyou."
I have nothing to add.

There are a plethora of Merediths', more info please. Finally found a bat to put outside in tribute to Phillip Hughes. Oddly in 16 seasons of mediocre play I never owned my own bat but I have this one. It is a 1926 bat signed by the 1926 tour side. Great stuff but I can't seem to get a photo up here to prove my case. But it is on twitter under Meredith if you are interested.

What about Trengrove ET, would he be in your side if fit ?P-man, I was just having a go at the persistent mis-spelling of his name - something Nasher has now fixed, rather sweetly.
Pedo certainly pulled his weight last year, and perhaps we've not yet seen the best of him.

"Sir Elton John stopped his concert in Germany on Thursday night to pay tribute to fallen Australian cricket Phillip Hughes.
The singer, who confesses to being a huge fan of the sport, was saddened by the untimely death of Hughes and wanted to honour him while showing support for bowler Sean Abbott who delivered the bouncer that killed Hughes."
Amazing.

Remarkable form of respect shown by both teams.Haunting wasn't it?
A batsman makes 197, gets caught, nothing from him, nothing from the bowler, nothing from the catcher.
RIP Phil

Tend to agree, I'm struggling to come up with a club who haven't had ruck problems in the past few years.I think we're fine in the ruck, overated position anyway, Pedo can compete there FFS, and he's only in the low 190's for height. I reckon they'll wait to see if Max King can lift his game this year and if so, he becomes the next hope, if not, I think we'll look to trade in an established ruck and/or rookie another long-term prospect.
The injury list is endless, luck plays such a role.

In my 71 years I cannot remember a passing of a sportsman that has brought a similar response from all over the globe.
Astonishing.

OMG, Phil Hughes has passed away.
Terrible just terrible, only 26 years of age.
RIP.

Alan Jones reports this afternoon that Phil has damaged an artery and is breathing only with assistance. Not looking good.
Still find it hard to believe it's happening - who would have thought you could leave to play cricket one day and not come home ?
His poor family and friends must be beside themselves.
More serious than most of us thought.
Not good.

Lyon has done a great deal behind the scenes that the general public would not know about other than the much publicised events surrounding coaching appointments which have no doubt drawn your scorn.hahaha, Gary Lyon there's a good one..i didn't say anything about the coaching staff being MFC ppl. It was a general comment. Remember that Dunstall and Brereton remained heavily involved in Hawks recently. Yes, we had Healey and Leoncelli, but the latter half of the Daniher era got shafted and a lot remain disinterested in the footy club. McDonald, Yze, Green, Bruce all spring to mind.
Clowns like you who denigrate past players is something we do not need.
Anyone for cricket?
