    I don’t understand your gripe.

A season is 23 weeks. Not just round 1.

If we end up having 0 Friday night games then I’ll sympathise with you.

We will have more night games for sure. I was expecting to play another top eight side. That’s all. I can express an opinion, your entitled not to agree with it.

Also I might add that as I am getting older I would prefer day games any day of the week.

they ran that rumour last year.. didn't happen

It was the Pies who were anxious to maximise the gate

Not sure the Pies are too worried about who they play in the opening round next year as long as it's a home game for them

Correct. It was stated in the article about the 2019 requests for fixturing and that both clubs were having another crack at getting this game next season.

PJ did provide a soundbite that could get the media and footy comunity talking:

"GWS - no one cares about them because they are from Western Sydney"

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Get writing Caro, Barret and Co.

    A straight shooter is PJ.

You also mentioned in your previous post about his legacy. One thing that’s would be for certain is that he would not want it to come undone after the tireless work he and Roos et al put into the club.

Very much doubt it will, but it’s always on your mind especially when you have just left.

  5. Thanks for the PJ interview. It was very insightful, a great look from inside the tent from an management point of view. I thought he was very open with his answers, the bit about the Geelong prelim and how we out sold the Tigers in the first 30 minutes of ticket sales opening, and that he was going to the game knowing the crowd was going to be pro Melbourne.

Didn’t think Pert got a tick and it was the only time he bristled.

Sounds like he will be following the Dee’s.

Enjoyed the discussion about the clubs trading as well.

    What a day. Well done.

    Spot on.

They hope Weideman takes the lions share of those goals, but Trac, T Mac, Fristch, Hannan, Melksham, Oliver, Spargo etc. etc. will also share the load a little as well.  I'm not worried about it at all.

With Preuss coming in, he or Max can spend some time forward when Preuss is in the side. I am surprised that not much has been said about bringing in Preuss, I think it’s a much better get than most seem to realise

    Opinions please.

    HOW TOMORROW WILL PLAY OUT:

Brisbane trade Beams, Pick 32 & 55 to Collingwood for Pick 18 & Future 1st Rd Pick.

Brisbane trade Pick 5 & 18 to Melbourne.

Melbourne trade Hogan & Pick 36 to Fremantle.

Fremantle trade Neale & Pick 30 to Brisbane

Melbourne trade Pick 5 & Future 3rd Rd Pick to Gold Coast for May & KK

This means Bellend can trade Pick 11 & 23 to GWS for Lobb & Pick 14.

    West Coast trade Picks 20 & 22 to GWS for Picks 11 & 47

West Coast trade Pick 11 to Geelong for Kelly.

Bombers trade Pick 9 & Future 2nd Rd Pick to GWS for Shiel & Future 4th Rd Pick ($cully trade).

    Am I missing anything/anyone???

My guess is the only thing you have missed is that it is all but done, and we are waiting for the “live theatre “ tomorrow night.

I do not understand Freo and their attitude to trading at all. (mind you I don't think I want to)

Hogan has 1 year left on his present contract.

Asks us if he can explore his options with Freo.

MFC agree on the understanding that we would need to get fair value in any trade at this time with Freo.

Hogan and Manager meet with Freo.

Freo do their due diligence ( I would imagine this would include a clear understanding of Hogan's expectations and those of the MFC)

Freo announce that they will no longer be looking at Hogan as they cannot meet MFC trade requirements (no mention of the contract requirements of Hogan and his management and an inference that there may be some unspecified problems)

Freo meet with Hogan on Saturday after Bell's announcement that they are no longer interested

Been reported that MFC would accept 5, 23 & 30

Given all that I would say that there is not a lot of goodwill between Freo and Hogan and hos management or between Freo and MFC.

As negotiating strategies go, Freo's approach is more than very strange.

I find the timeline interesting in that Hogan met Freo after they withdrew their offer. Is that when the Hogan camp asked for 8 years, 8 million as an FU Freo, pay up or shut up?

ITS amazing that Hawthorn just keep plucking talent from other clubs and they give up nothing to get them across. Meanwhile, the MFC is sitting around waiting on the flogs in the West to sort something reasonable out. We have a lot of spots to fill on our list, dunno why we are seemingly sitting on our hands when blokes like this are moving

Putting aside my total dislike for $cully. Hawthorn are the number one destination club because they have the leagues number 1 coach and a great medical team which $cully might need.

In the cold light of day if $cully came back to Melbourne supporters would just have to put up with it. I have no doubt the football department would do what’s best for the club.

$cully already knows at least a third of the supporters at Melbourne despise him and surely that would be on his radar.

Not convinced, just making him stay.

Maybe they are trying to be the Magpies of the West. Support us or hate us. They have certainly moved up the ladder on my list.

Hope they stay anchored to the bottom of the AFL one.
