Don't paint me as some teetotaller detached from reality. The Moloney thing was an overreaction, and I think footballers should be allowed to live normal social lives. This however is an exceptional set of circumstances. It is one of the darkest days in our history. A small number of players hitting up the town after that kind of performance is a stupid and careless act, as is even attempting to defend it.

Always liked his persona and that never changed. Right til the end. Good on you Deano.

"Club chief executive Cameron Schwab has repeatedly denied there are frayed relationships within the football department and without. But Garry Lyon, perhaps the most important figure in the Melbourne football community, has declared publicly that he will intervene this week, which only supports the theory that nothing much happens at the club without Lyon initialling the bottom line. Lyon's declaration, made on Melbourne radio is impeccable evidence that the club is internally dysfunctional. And that the club has not been able to quarantine the playing group from whatever festers within the administration." Can someone explain to me his logic in this para? I'm the first to admit Garry needs to put up or shut up when it comes to assisting the club in its direction, rather than taking potshots from the outer. But how does him saying he will intervene become impeccable evidence that the club is dysfunctional?

Wow. Just wow. Normally I'm a strong advocate for players relaxing after a game and heading out for a drink, but in this instance it is inexcusable. If they don't give a rat's backside, why should we?

Right now the MFC stands for soft and insipid. The team has never before looked more like a bunch of skinny kids running around without a clue. Until we get some bigger bodies, experience and real leadership injected into this group, this will remain more or less unchanged. At least a couple more years of pain ahead is my gut feeling. Not as though we're not used to it.

The Bailey decision was a pretty obvious one. Alot more thought needs to go into Green and his future as captain. Yes he was a bad choice in hindsight, but we've already shafted J Mac (I keep harping on about that on this site and I make no apology for it). Shafting the captain who succeeds him could be downright disastrous in terms of fracturing the playing group.

Good read. Agree on every point except Scully, who I think under the circumstances has handled himself professionally and probably as well as can be expected.

I'm amazed at the number of people thinking we can beat the Blues. The team that ran out on Saturday would've struggled against most VFL sides. Our chances of beating a top four side in the state we are in, complete disarray, are slim to zilch. The new coach factor means nothing. Simply a competitive performance would be nice. The SENIOR players looking like they give two whatsernames would also be nice. Right decision was made. 186 ffs. Yes one game, but it's still 186.

I heard he was already doing such a role with GWS.

Jurrah seriously better be dropped this time. His was one of the most pitiful efforts I've ever witnessed.

To be honest I think that is a perfectly rational and fair reaction. I'm by no means saying it should be used as justification for their performance, but they have every right to be outraged. It was an unspeakably ill thought out move. How much thought was given to potential ramifications of forcing your club's captain, a peerless servant to this club, into early retirement? Not least of which, what message does it send to the rest of the playing group? I'm still absolutely fuming over it. Forget all the tanking rubbish. The J Mac incident will sully the club's name for years to come, and it is going to take one hell of a leader in both coach and captain, which we clearly don't have right now, to get us moving past it and forward once more.

I have to admit I began to laugh whilst watching the last quarter. The extent of the domination and our utter atrociousness had become amusing.
-
I hate to say it, but I actually think this could be the beginning of the end for this great club unless there is drastic change that takes place. It was that horrific today.
-
I'll admit I was wrong about thinking Green was the right guy for the job, but in saying that, how many times did Moloney get his hands on the pill today? Equally as horrible a performance.
-
Didn't see it, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Did you see his showing On the Couch? He was like a giggling schoolgirl. I'd take any club's predicament over ours right now, bar maybe Port. Maybe.

Bailey's address at 3/4 time said it all. Every head was down bar a couple. He would look up from the whiteboard and scan around the playing group for a set of eyes to focus on but found none. If that team is playing for Bailey then I'm a monkey's uncle.
-
A game like today makes me think it's not just Bailey's future in jeopardy but the club as a whole. Never seen anything like it.
-
This is all karma for the way he was treated anyhow. Absoutely disgraceful.
-
Right now I honestly would not blame supporters dropping off this joke of a club. Bailey you are an utter disgrace.
-
The margin record may not just be beaten today but absolutely smashed. This is the game that seals Bailey's fate for mine.
-
I immediately thought the same thing..in fact I was a recent culprit by creating one about North. We're screwed now.
-
If he's in the team for his kicking then we're in some real strife because some of his disposal over the weekend was shocking. Personally I think the wait is over and he needs to move on. If anything he is going backwards, not forwards.

Woeful tonight. Truly woeful.
