Deevoted- are we only running a Supercoach competition next season due to lack of interest in the DT format? I'm happy to move to that one if it means there is more people involved and better leagues. Last season we had randoms in our league and it's not the best.

The plan is to try to get the numbers back up for Dream Team. It only needs 10 more teams and we have the promotion system back in business.

I am hoping we retain who we have now, and build from there. Failing that , we still have our regulars with their own league to join.

If the DT comp gets canned, anyone wanting to play DT, still ends up playing against randoms. I plan to keep it going. AFL fantasy suffers from the same lack of numbers. Since the DT split I have asked for votes for a preference, AFL or RDT. RDT slightly ahead each time.

I played both AFL and RDT, is it just me? but I prefer RDT, for a number of reasons, one is AFL just has too many trades, I end making needless trades just to use them all. Then its mostly sideways trades, because the rookies $$ go up the same time as the ones selected in my team. Making it too hard to generate cash. Maybe I am doing it wrong. but RDT is close to how SC works.

** Special mention to Mega_Watts scoring 49,299 Total Season Pts ,took out this years Highest overall score in the RDT Comp. Making it back to back, taking his tally to 3 overall , and moving him ahead of gmac on 2.

  3. Thats another year done and dusted. Congratultions to all the grand final winners. I hope everyone enoyed being part of our comp. There were some really impressive scores this year, and if it was hard in the Stynes league this year, it is going to get tougher as more high scoring teams get promoted. In a slight surprise, the Barassi league (Div 3) outperformed the Flower league (D2). There was big scoring going on in Div 3.

I have collated all the scores for all 4 leagues, and can post all the results if there is any interest.

I got there early and had to leave early so I missed the nail biting finish.

In the early game J.Lovett spent as much time sitting on the bench as he did on the ground. I am not sure why, unless they are easing him into it.

I  had my eye on him when on the ground, and he has a bit to do, still hasnt done anything of note for mine. I hope that changes before the season is over. He has time on his side but is going to have to work harder during a game.

Oscar player a good game (in my eyes). So did Dunne, though Dunne I expect more from, and a few times threw a team mate under the bus with a stupid handballs.

Sighted Roos at the ground, along with T Mac and Jetta, to add to names in the previous reports.

*Parking at the ground was a nightmare*  I left before the rush, so that was a bonus.

If nothing else I 'nailed" the correct weekend to get cruxified for a slip up in DUNN's surname.

I also try to sign up to the cordner league

I am not sure if you joined the Cordner league in time before it was filled. I have a number of unknown teams in that league.

If you can post the name of your team, as helps me organising next years leagues.

If anyone else in the Cordner league that also has a Demonland Username , that hasnt done so yet, could you post the name of your team in this thread.

And on that note, welcome to all the new coaches in whatever comp league you are in  for 2016 and good luck moving up the ranks.

To all the regulars that play every year, I hope you enjoy the battle with fellow your Demon supporters.

Thanks to all the coaches in the Jim Stynes League (Div 1) nearly everyone returned, and when notified with their codes, joined quickly, allowing me to move on to the remaining leagues. I had heaps of replies in my (PM inbox), too many to name, of appreciation. Now I put my feet up for awhile.

    That's disappointing…. I guess a number of people can't be bothered anymore?

Is there more doing Supercoach now? If so I'd be happy to move to that next season as I enjoy the multi tiered competition.

Supercoach is steady and is the most popular. Dream Team started to drop off in numbers (not just our comp) but in general. It didn't help when Virtual Sports split with the AFL. Now both forms of DT have suffered.  Some ditched DT and stayed with SC, as it was just too much trying to manage 3 teams.

It seems the competition isn't full yet. What happens if we don't have the full 18 teams?

If the league doesn't get filled by D'LAND members,The RDT system will auto-fill the league with randoms.

Of course without the required numbers for the our  promotion system, that has gone out the window as well.

  9. The Stynes, .Robbie Flower, and the RD Barassi Leagues are now full.

If you are not already in one of the 3 Comp leagues you can join the Cordner League (Div 4)

You will neeed to act quickly as the Auto league fill will kick-in soon.

    Cordner League  (Div 4)  Code = 646052

Once registered with Supercoach select join / create a league and then enter the above code.

  10. Now upgrading Punt Rd oval is making some sense.

They need more room to make stables for their horses. The ground gets renamed Punt Rd Stables.

What a F"n" joke, No curtain raiser games, yet Horses get a gig. Spare me!!!

The AFL is fast becoming a bigger circus, we have clowns running the show. May as well have animal acts as well.

When you look at the TV vision of CP 5, he looks anything but an AFL footballer. Thick legs, heavy body and floppy arms.

That's what they said about a young skinny kid that rocked up to training. They gave him No2, and the rest is history.

When I 1st saw Petracca in the flesh and I made mention in a training report, that he was built like a brick outhouse ,,,  etc

    Now for a few comparsions.

    A.Jakovich 187cm 98 kgs

Some noting how big Hulett is already 194 cm 94 kgs

    Petracca 186 cm 94 kgs

And the best tree trunk legs ever, Brad Hardie 181 cms 88 kgs

It all comes down to what the player thinks or plays best at whatever weight he prefers.

I won't be expecting Petracca to be pushed off the ball too easy. In fact I hope he comes up and runs through a skinny runt who;s name we no longer mention around here. If Petracca lives up to the hype and stays fit. There will be more than one player running off for a change of shorts in what we hope will be a long and successful career in the red and blue.

  15. Over the NAB challenge a few questions were asked, one was just how many top ten draft picks we had playing.

The other was just how many players were going to come out of contract this year.

One thing lead to another, so I complied a list (just for my own interest.) Then thought perhaps it might be a handy reference for some on here interested. This is not my 1st round team, though it could be argued on paper, not a bad lineup to start with.

columns = Where they went originally in the draft (DP) then age ,height, weight ,games, Home state originally, and when contract expires.

The interchange is most of the players likely to play soon, in no order. Just treat as intended ,a 'rough' guide?.

(As I hope I have them all correct)

Anyone know general admission for kids who aren't members please?

Try wearing a high vis vest and a hard hat. Tell'em you are doing a quote for Eddie on the cost of ripping the joint down.

  18. 'Checker' Hughes gets the nod from me. By the length of Flemington straight.

I admired Northey, he was great for this club. He followed Barassi, after Barassi got the joint back in order, and in typical Barassi style, he demanded standards were met or you were out the door. If anyone thought Ronald Dale was tough. Coaching the MFC reserves was a little bloke by the name of Ray "slug" Jordan.

Whom I had the great pleasure, of standing about 6 feet away, when 'slug' ripped into a player, and used just about every expletive in the book to get his point across. For a little bloke, he would have been heard 2 blocks away.
This was just a practice game, at a local football ground (Might add, women and children close by)
Between the 2 them, there wouldn't be any compromises.Slug was probably only 2nd to Denis Pagan for success in coaching reserve teams.

Enter Northey. (After the ground rules had been set)

    Coached from 1985 to 1998

Coached 4 teams :  Sydney, Melbourne, Richmond and Brisbane Bears

Coached MFC from 1986 until 1992   Won 90 Lost 76  Played in 1 Grand Final - Lost.
I am still of the belief we should have won at least 1 or perhaps 2 flags in that time.

    Frank "Checker' Hughes

Coached from 1927 to 1948    *1965 doesnt count as he stood in as temp for 1 game for some bloke that got the sack*

     Coached 2 teams : Richmond 1927 to 1932    5 Grand Finals won 1 flag
Melbourne 1933 to 1948    6 Grand Finals (including a drawn GF) won 4
    Total Games = won 244  lost 129

Now between 1939 to 1945 (2nd WW) the MFC lost a handful of the their star players, some never to return to wear a Red and Blue jumper.
One can only guess how many more Grand Final wins could have been added if not for the fact the war disrupted our run of success. Then he had to rebuild a team, Lost the 1946 GF and won another in 1948.

I'll throw in, just for good measure, he was coaching against the Great "Jock" McHale (Collingwood)
You can add in the influence he had on a young Norm Smith. As well as the insight to giving us our Nickname of the Demons.

"Checker" gets my vote.Someone will need to come up with a bloody good argruement to convince me otherwise.

  19. Of the Casey players, a few times Tom Baker (not sure of his background) took some nice grabs, and moved well. But as mentioned, delivery to the forwards was terrible.

Jordon Moncrieff (son of hawthorn player) showed a bit. But it was a bad day for Casey, and not much to brag about.
